Spirit Entry 4: The Twin Guardians
Briiiiiing!
"Okay, class! School is done~! Please return safely to your homes~!"
The student population immediately emptied the classrooms while Lonán exited at a more sedate pace.
Although he moved slowly, he made sure to avoid his peers; he just didn't feel like talking more than needed to.
~~
The sun slowly set as Lonán walked down the streets.
Shadows started to stretch and darken, and Lonán paused momentarily to watch the shadows.
The boy looked up at the sky and observed the warm-orange color, eyes drifting to the pink and purple clouds.
After a few more seconds of staring, Lonán continued to walk, until he came to the edge of a forest.
Caution tape was wrapped all around the border of the dark forest, where the trees seemed eerily to reach out to you.
But Lonán ignored all that and glanced around before entering the forest.
After squeezing past a few trees, he came across a dirt path, where fireflies drifted lazily across.
After a few minutes of walking, Lonán halted.
Suddenly, a blue-white flame popped in front of him.
"Young Master! You're back!"
Lonán kept a stoic face a he nodded in return.
And then an red-orange flame sparked to life at the raven's right.
"Young Master, how are you?"
"Fine, Aoi, Aka."
The flames disappeared, revealing two white-haired teens.
The two would've looked like twins if it weren't for the different colors they wore.
The one of the left wore a blue fox mask; a white kimono with light-blue decorating the edges adorned his body.
The one on the right wore a crimson mask; a blood-red kimono with an orange flame design adorned his body.
Aoi, the one wearing the blue fox mask, crouched down in front of Lonán.
"Young Master...you look...tired. Did something happen?"
Lonán slowly shook his head, but Aka suddenly touched his wrist; the boy winced slightly, and the two noticed immediately.
Aka carefully rolled the sleeve of Lonán's uniform, and the two fox-masked men tensed.
There was an angry, purple bruise on Lonán's wrist.
"Young Master...how did you get this?"
The area seemed to have gotten a few degrees lower.
Lonán sighed before patting the two on the head.
"I had a little fight. I did one of my fighting moves wrong and twisted my wrist slightly--it'll be healed by morning, so it should be fine."
The two sighed, knowing that the boy wouldn't lie.
Suddenly, Aoi picked Lonán up and piggy-backed the other down the dirt road with an amused Aka following behind.
Lonán raised an eyebrow, but he didn't complain; he yawned, blinking his silver eyes tiredly.
"How are Father, and the others?"
Aka smiled underneath his mask as he lit up the pathway with orange orbs of fire.
"Master and the other Young Masters and Young Mistresses are waiting for your arrival."
"Am I holding up supper?"
"Not at all, Young Master."
"Good..."
Aka and Aoi raised an eyebrow underneath their masks when Lonán suddenly stopped talking.
Aka upped his speed slightly to stand next to Aoi and looked at Lonán's face; Aoi started to panic slightly.
"I-Is something wrong with the Young Mast--!?"
Aka chuckled.
"No, no...the Young Master has simply fallen asleep."
Aoi sighed in relief, listening to the soft breathing of his Young Master.
The two fox-masked guardians frowned; Aoi was the first to speak with Aka ending his sentence.
"A fight he said..."
"...at his school?"
The twin guardians glanced at each other, and searing sapphire and blazing amber met.
"Should we..."
"...pay them a 'visit'?"
"Do...n't..."
The guardian paused in their walking and blinked their eyes in surprise.
"Young Master?"
Lonán was still asleep, but he was talking.
"...Just...oblivious......don't....hurt..."
And the boy went back to snoozing.
Aoi and Aka were stunned before small smiles appeared on both of their faces.
"The Young Master is too kind."
"Indeed..."
"But we can still cause mischief without hurting them, right~?"
"Yep~!"
