nine // sorry
===
Friday 12th August
Jordan Terrell had somewhat missed Dominic's presence in the library. He gave her an excuse to smile, to laugh, to let go, even if it were only for a few minutes. She was still unsure as to what he was doing with her sister on Wednesday night but pushed the uncertainty to the back of her mind as she watched him walk over to his usual table from behind a bookshelf.
Dominic sat down, throwing his bag on to the floor before running a hand through his messy brown hair. He looked around, seemingly distressed before pulling out his phone and proceeding to scroll through it with a blank expression on his face.
Jordan continued to watch him inquisitively before deciding to venture out to the study area. She came out from behind the bookshelf and walked towards Dominic's table, her eyes flitting to the ground every so often.
"Hi." she said as she sat down, playing with her fingers. Dominic looked up from his phone in surprise, his eyes widening.
"Jordan." he said, shocked.
"Hello." she replied, looking into his bright blue eyes for a split second.
"H-hi." he stammered, shaking his head and putting down his phone. "Sorry I thought... Sorry." he muttered, running a hand through his hair. "Wednesday night... Mark's party... I'm sorry." he sighed, his shoulders falling dejectedly.
"You didn't do anything..." Jordan said in quiet confusion.
"I wanted to help though... The stuff Kaden was saying... You looked upset." he explained quickly.
"Oh." Jordan said simply, not meeting his eyes.
"Yeah."
"She says stuff when she's drunk." Jordan numbed. "I-I don't know if she means it or..." she continued, her eyes stinging and heart rate rising.
"D-did you hear what she said before you came in?" Dominic asked with dread, willing Jordan to look him in the eye.
Jordan nodded softly, her curls bouncing. After a few moments, a few tears rolled down her lightly freckled cheeks.
"I'm sorry, I don't even know why I came here." Jordan mumbled, her voice breaking as she stood up and began to walk away.
"No wait!" Dominic said, jumping up and running round the table to stop her, his hands placed on her bony shoulders. "Stay, please. Just don't--" he stopped mid-sentence when Jordan let herself fall into his arms, crying silently.
He wrapped his arms around her small frame, his heart threatening to beat right out of his chest.
