"Ahmed come on, we're going to be late." I sighed and checked the clock again. It was half passed noon, and he was still taking a shower.

"Wait, wait I'm coming. Can't you wait for a brother for thirty minutes sheesh."

He walked out of the room and quickly grabbed an muffin off the table. A frown immediately covered my forehead. That was my breakfast.

"Hurry Ibrahim, why are you standing there. Come on!" I rolled my eyes at him and shrugged. He's yelling at me when I had to wait thirty minutes for him to return.

I started the car and drove until the police academy came to view. Living with Ahmed meant being late almost every single day. For the past two years, I had to beg the boss not to fire is for out tardies. Being in the police academy was a dream I had ever since I was a young boy. My mom let me enroll and Ahmed tagged along with me.

I looked at my self through the drivers window as I parked the car and pulled the keys out of the ignition. My cloudy grey eyes looked tiered and worn out. I was up all night reviewing files and writing reports for the latest crimes we solved. It took me nearly all night, and the reward was having bags the size of a cup under my eyes. If I was a girl, I'd cover it with make-up, but being a guy, I didn't have that option.

I slowly ran a hand through my hair and across my eyes. Hopefully today isn't a tough day. I seriously need to catch up on my sleep. Nights have become too feel like years when I can't sleep. To top it off, the sunlight is starting to kill me too.

I walked out of the car and fixed my collar. The blazing sun shined directly in my eyes so I quickly shielded it from the sun and made my way through the gates.

The academy was huge, and could never be missed. I smiled and sighed. It felt great being here because I'm too busy to think and worry about everything in the outside. When I'm by myself I start to think about mom and dad, and how they're living without me. I start to think of little Hafsa and her family. I didn't even see her little son yet, even though I was his uncle. Being in this busy building blinded me from all that worry, and I liked it.

I started to walk towards the building and frowned when I seen how busy it was today. Every officer was on guard and trifling after the chief who was rushing towards his office holding files an files in his hands.

Ahmed raised an eyebrow at me and raced to the door. In all of my years of working here, I've never seen this place this busy.

I walked to the doors and maneuvered between the packed crowds. Whispers erupted around us as we walked into Chief Hussien's office.

I rushed to the door and slammed it shut when we entered. The smell of heavy coffee instantly rushed to my nose, and I knew that the chief pulled an all nighter again.

"Chief, what's up? What's going on?" Ahmed asked curiously and threw himself on the chair. I sat down besides him and rested my hands on my thighs and watched him. A heavy and exhausted sigh left his lips as he worriedly starred at us. His brown eyes glimmered with worry, and a frown formed on his forehead.

"Uncle Hussien, what happened?" I rested my hands on my knees and frowns at him. Ever since we came here, he became like a second dad to me. Worry overcame me when the thought of something happening to him came to mind.

"Boys, there's a new case I need your help on." He looks into my eyes and then Ahmed waiting for out approvals. I slowly started to bid my head, knowing that my dream of sleep is never going to happen now.

Uncle Hussien smiled slowly, and pulled out a file from his top drawer. The file looked heavy with papers and documents. He flipped it open and revealed a picture.

I move the picture towards me and studied the face. It was a middle aged man, with a smile on his face. His green eyes shined with happiness as he glanced into the camera. His clothes looked expensive, and professional do I guessed he was some kind of a doctor or a business man.

"Yusuf Umar. 32. Found dead in his house this morning."

Ahmed froze and sat up. Instantly my mood changed from worried to surprised as adrenaline rushes through me. There were hardly any murders here in spring field and this was huge news. No wonder why the place was so full.

"How did he die?"

"A bullet to the chest. The approximate time was last night at two. His body was slumped in the living room, and there were no witnesses there." He pulled other photos from the file but I instantly turned away.

It was his death photo, and even though I've been a officer for three years now, I still hadn't gotten used to seeing dead people or blood.

"He lived by himself? Was there any evidence found at the sight?" Uncle Hussien nodded and pulled out a small zip lock bag.

Ahmed grabbed the bag and pulled his chair closer to mine so we could both inspect it. There was a small object covered in blood zipped inside the bag.

I frowned and tried to figure out what is was when a small bit of color showed. It was gold. A small gold ring.

"The ring was found deep inside his throat. Forensics shows that it was force fed to him." I cringed and flinched when he said that. Ahmed's face scrunched up as he slowly placed the ring on the table.

"Subhana'Allah."

"Who did the ring belong to?" Uncle Hussien then frowned and took out another picture. It was a picture of a woman standing next to Yusuf smiling.

"It belonged to his wife. Aisha."
