Sargent Benjamin Sutton turned back to the fairies. 

This was not what he had thought he would be doing with his life.

 He had thought he was going to be a basketball player when he was younger. He hadn't believed in fairies. He hadn't even thought about alternate realities. How had he ended up here, of all places? He hated acting this way. He hadn't meant to slap that fairy. 

But the look in her eyes while he did it... like she had won.... it reminded him of something. Something from a long time ago that he couldn't quite remember. But it seemed familiar. 

A shout startled Ben out of his thoughts. The fairy woman raised her hand, pointing it at the teenager. She yelled, and Ben started running towards them. 

Then the girl disappeared.
