Ariah's face closes off and she starts to close the door. "Ariah! No, wait!" I grab the door. "I want to tell you what was really going on that day!" 

She looks at me. 

"There's nothing to talk about."

"Yes, there is! It wasn't what you thought."

"Are you sure about that?" She snaps suddenly. 

"Because it looked an awful lot like you were proposing to our friend Carrie Thomas!"
