Chapter 25: Keris and Ariah
Ariah and I have been dating for several years now. When we got to high school, I discovered that Ariah had been studying two maths for the last few years on her own, and she was two years ahead of Wyndar and me in math. We had the same history teacher, and English class.
Wyndar just so happened to not be in those classes with me.
Sometimes, Ariah comes over to my house for a sleepover with Iris, and we have an at-home date, which generally ends up in a pillow fight. One time, my mother caught us. Turns out, I'd been worried for nothing- she was totally fine with me dating Riah, so long as we kept the door open. We'd both turned red and assured her that she had nothing to worry about.
Ariah's mom never quite got over the death of Mr. Quigly, and anything that reminded her of him makes her cry. Ariah doesn't mind it too much; she's still grieving too. But Ariah prefers to remember her father as he was, full of life and joy. He was the one who taught her to play the violin, and she says that when she plays, it's like he's right there next to her, showing her the different fingerings.
This year is my senior year. In a few months, I will be a freshman at the local community college. The problem is, all of the schools that Ariah wants to go to are all a long way away from here. Everyone knows how hard long-distance relationships are, and I'm terrified that one of the guys at Ariah's college will catch her eye. I want to spend the rest of my life with Ariah. I've known that since I was twelve. So I'm gonna make the biggest decision of my life.
But, somehow, it's the easiest one I've ever made.
I've already bought the ring.

Okay, I think I just died.
