Yet to Meet

My little girl smiles at me; she tilts her head and laughs

She sings a silly song you see and skips along the path

I carry her up on my shoulders

I take her everywhere I go

I am the proudest living father; the world will ever know

She dances and she jumps

She sometimes cries here in my arms

But from the moment I laid eyes on her

She wrapped me with her charms

My little girl is my treasure

And she means the world to me

Or at least she would

If she wasn't just imaginary

But I've seen her at the park

And I've seen her at the zoo

I've seen her walk these empty halls

But there's nothing I can do

Some dreams are only dreams

Some hopes may never be

Though I could've have sworn I saw a glimpse

Of what was meant to be

The light came shining on that face

And her smile stopped me in my place

Her eyes were bright and her laughter sweet

But we have yet to meet
