Scraping this old skin from my neck
I find pieces of her vampire teeth
in me

They were still there
buried deep

The vibrant life
The full and beautiful blood
of my very heart
she drank out of me

I gave it all
I let her have the depth
of my vulnerable
heartbeat

She drew it out of me
She feasted on my soul
that night
and she left me to myself

I felt the transforming pain
The empty vein
That drained my skin
of its vibrant color
and left me cold

I became
what I feared
and began to look for
my own victims
to prey on

And I too would never again
be satisfied
until the curse was lifted

Now I walk the night alone
and scream inside the void
that the curse will be lifted
and I will be able to feel again
someday
