Embers glowing on the edge of a waking horizon

These eyes search for the breath

to stoke this inner heart's flame again

Once like a fleeting breeze before the rains

You swept through me to ignite this fire

Your laugh was the flint and your eyes the rock

I was struck by a spark as a bolt lit up my night

The thunder tore into my heart

And opened up the skies before me

In that moment I faltered

I tripped over my feet

I stuttered to speak but could only stare

The storm raged and I stood still

I waited and let it soak in like the night

I remembered you had my umbrella

But I would have given you everything

Some days your ghost passes by me

Or is it me who is only an apparition now?

I like to think I survived the night

I pretend my heart is somehow alright

But truthfully I know I've already died

And only your voice can bring me back to life
