We were envied and revered
We walked among the columbine
upon the forbidden tundra.
They laid the world before us
as we laughed at what they feared
We held the passion in each other
beneath a sky of thunder.
In our once and endless past
We were broken and deceived
We wandered apart in pain
in harsh and unknown lands.
They forgot about us quickly
as we cried alone in grief
Memory evaded our grasp
like burning sands in blinding sun.
In my once and fading hope
I return to this old hill
