Doesn't Have to Be

If the architect of your soul

before you left the cairn

was no other than you

If you approved the blueprints

and the sketches of your heart

Who else could you blame

If it never seemed to work

Is God your scapegoat then

And everyone else a pawn

in the plan to make you miserable

Why do you rage against the unknown?

Why are you so unhappy

And out of control

Why does someone else have to take the blame

For your unwillingness to find an answer

Or face the truth

Why does everyone you see

Become the target of your pain

When you could ask for help

Instead of driving yourself insane

Instead you dig both heels in

And insist on your rights and your way

But in the end you won't be any happier

Then you were when the day began

You need peace and rest

For yourself and all of us

Take a break from being angry once

It doesn't have to be this way
