Chapter 5: Nico
I forgot to add that I don't own anyone. All characters go to Rick Riordan. I got so excited that I forgot to put it in the description. It's there now but for those of you who started before I put it in, I wrote it here.
"Why?" Nico asked with a seething voice as he slammed his fist into the wall.
Percy...
A knock on the door caused Nico to be pulled out of his thoughts. He sighed and walked over to the door and opened it.
The son of Hades smiled as he said, "you always know when I need you most Will".
Will Solace smiled as Nico invited him inside. They sat on Nico's bunk as he explained to Will what had transpired on Olympus.
"Damn! Percy doesn't deserve this!" Will yelled as he clenched his hands into fists. Nico placed his hand gently on Will's and said in the most soothing voice he can, "it's okay Will, Percy is strong and smart. He will find a way to pull through. I know it. If he can survive the Second Titan War, Tartarus, and the Second Giant War, he can survive this".
Will nodded as he stared down at his hands.
"What will happen if you guys find him? What will you guys do? Why make you guys suffer?"
Nico stared out the window, "I don't know Will, but... I feel that we better not find him".
"Good night Nico", Will said as he got up and walked to the door.
"Good night Will", Nico replied as Will opened the door and left, leaving the son of Hades to his own thoughts.
The next day, Nico packed his things and walked out of Hades' cabin to join the rest of the group. He thought he'd be the last person but... it turned out that the last person was surprisingly Luke.
He looked horrible. His blue eyes were bloodshot, he had bags under his eyes, and his hair was a mess. He looked like he hasn't showered in days and he seemed depressed.
Annabeth looked about the same, in fact. If Luke only had gray eyes instead of blue, a they'd look like siblings.
Piper seemed anxious and agitated, probably because she was sent to hunt down one of her beat friends.
Jason looked angery as he glared at the sky as if he wanted to challenge Zeus himself.
Leo looked serious, which probably ment he was also depressed.
Frank and Hazel arrived this morning, they both looked distraught over what the gods had tasked them to do.
"What do we do? Where do we go?" Hazel asked as she stared at Frank with disbelief.
"It's all my fault", Luke said to no one in particular. Everyone glanced at him sympathetically but said nothing.
"The question is, what do we use for transportation? Festus can't fit-", Leo starts counting, "- eight people, we don't have a ship, we don't have a plane, we only have a dragon who could carry three at tops".
"Do we really want to do this?" Luke and Annabeth said in unison.
"We could, like, look but not put too much thought in it?" Luke said, which only got glares from everyone else.
"Well, or we can look, and when we find Percy...", she brings her voice down to a whisper, "we help him".
Luke nodded and saw that everyone else were agreeing too.
"But what if we have to swear on the River of Styx to kill Percy on sight?" Piper asked in a whisper.
"Then I'll use the mist, and make the gods think we actually sweared", Hazel whispered excitedly.
"Then it's settled", Nico said happily which shocked everyone. He knew what they were thinking, Nico... happy? He wanted to say, hey, just because I act all gloomy and depressed, doesn't mean I am actually like that!
But... he didn't. So everyone was in agreement and they decided that they will work out the details later. They started their trek to the end of the borders where the bus was waiting.
"Well, good luck with the gods", Chiron said with a grave expression.
Nico was the last one to get onto the bus. As he started to get in Chiron placed a hand on Nico's shoulder.
"No matter what happens", the old centaur whispered, "please make sure Percy is safe".
"Don't worry Chiron", Nico said with a failed attempt at a kind smile, "we already have a plan".
"Good Luck".
"Thanks".
Nico entered the bus and sat next to Hazel in the front. Jason sat with Leo and Piper with Annabeth (trying to comfort her with some charmspeak), and Frank with Luke, who were trying to make small talk though they both were obviously uncomfortable.
Before entering The Empire State Building, they were greeted by Thalia and Artemis.
"The Hunters' hearts aren't in this. So we have decided that we aren't going to search to thoroughly for Percy", Thalia whispered to Nico as they walked towards the building, "even Lady Artemis isn't too keen on the idea that we are hunting Percy down".
Nico arched his eyebrow, "I thought the Hunters hated all men?"
"Well, Percy saved Lady Artemis and stayed by Bianca and Zoë's side till the end. He has many of the hunters' respect so... yah".
Thalia then glanced over and stopped dead in her tracks. Nico followed her gaze as they landed on Luke. "Lady Artemis told me that-
"But I didn't-
"So he really is back", was all Thalia could say as her and Luke's eyes made contact. She then glanced down at Nico and asked, "and has ge shown any signs of evilness?"
"No. Remorse, regret actually", Nico said as he saw Thalia give a content expression.
"Good, he better", she mumbled as she marched ahead to stand by Artemis' side. They started to chat and the goddess and the huntress both glanced at the demigods and chatted again. Then they stared at Luke, then chatted again.
Artemis waved at the man at the counter and placed her key into the slot that turned into a button for the floor sixth-hundred. She pressed it as the song "Bohemian Rhapsody' ended and 'Happy' started playing.
"This song is so outdated", Artemis muttered as she glared at the speaker.
The not so happy group refrained from punching the speaker as they listened through the whol extended version of 'Happy' until the elevator finally went ding.
Everyone ran out of the elevator as if they feard the next song would be, 'We Are Number One'.
Then, they were standing out in the Olympian Courtyard with all the gods, minor and major as Zeus stood at the centre.
"Good, everyone is here. So now we can begin. We are all gathered because of a strange situation we have found ourselves in. As you all can see, Luke Castellan is back-", murmurs rose around them as everyone glanced at Luke who shrank behind Annabeth.
"- yesterday, we came to a conclusion. We will give Luke another chance-", the whispers started again but died down once Zeus started to continue.
"-but unfortunately, Percy Jackson had betrayed us-".
"No he didn't!" Luke yelled out surprising everyone.
"Luke", Nico said with a tone of worry in his voice but Luke continued.
"He didn't betray anyone! He took Kronos out of me to give me a second-".
"Luke!" This time, it was Annabeth. She placed a hand on Luke's shoulder and whispered something in his ear. He gave her a look of protest but she flashed him a look which caused him to step down.
Poseidon gave Luke a grateful look as if to say, thanks for trying to stick up for my son, before turning his attention back to Zeus. Hermes stood next to Poseidon with a hand on his shoulder for support while Hestia stood on his other side with anger written all over her face.
Hephaestus stood nearby and glanced at the sea god reassuringly whenever he looked as if he were going to cry.
Poor Poseidon, Nico thought as he turned his attention back to Zeus.
"-we are sorry to say that now, the Hero of Olympus is now our number one enemy. We need all of your help to find him and put him down".
Anger built in the pit of his stomach. Hazel grabbed Nico's wrist and whispered in his ear, "don't have skeletons invade Olympus please?"
Nico, realizing that some skeletons actually were rising, took a few deep breaths which caused them to return to the ground.
"I WILL NOT HELP WITH THIS MADNESS!!!!" yelled Hestia as she glared at Zeus.
With that said, Hestia flashed out. Zues was about to speak but was interrupted by Poseidon.
"I agree with Hestia, I will not hunt my own son down like an animal-".
"Brother", Zues warned as he flashed Poseidon a dangerous look, "if you are caught hiding Percy in Atlantis I'll-".
"You don't scare me brother, but you have my word that I will not hide Percy", with that said, Poseidon flashed out.
"Sorry father", Hermes said stepping forward, "but I owe a lot to the young demigod. After all...", he looked back at Luke and smiled, "he gave my son a second, second chance. I can't and won't, hunt him down", he then too, flashed out.
"I don't like manhunts, so I'll be useless", Aphrodite said as she flashed out too.
"Anyone else?" Zeus asked in anger.
Most other of the minor gods and goddesses flashed out because they respected Percy. All that were left were many minor gods and goddesses who really loved Percy (their plans were to find and help Percy behind Zeus' back, just like the demigods, Artemis, Apollo, Hephaestus, and Hades were planning on doing), and the gods who really hated Percy (Zeus, Dionysus, Athena, Demeter [for some reason, maybe because he didn't eat her cereal], Ares, and a few minor gods and goddesses that he had some how offended.
"All right...", Zeus said nervously, "now swear on the River of Styx that-".
"But Lord Zeus!" Piper called out. She put charmspeak in her words as Hazel also influenced them with her magic as Piper continued, "We have already proven ourselves loyal by not leaving. So why do we need to swear on the River of Styx?"
The major gods mumbled in agreement, even Athena was under the influence of Piper's words.
"All right", Zeus said, "now be gone!"
Many of the friendly gods and goddesses gave Piper greatful looks as they all either left or flashed out. The Teens left down the elevator with Artemis and Thalia who told Piper how thankful they were that she convinced Zeus to not make them swear.
Nico, however, still hated the thought of hunting down Percy.
He doesn't deserve this, Nico thought with anger, he never deserved this...
