Chapter 19: Aiónios

A few weeks later...

When walking through the woods, Aiónios stumbled upon a cave. He started to cautiously poke around the cave just to make sure it was empty. Then, realizing that it was indeed empty, he hurried to his discarded equipment in another part of the woods and brought it back. He was thrilled to finally have some shelter. Though he was okay with sleeping outside, he knew it was only a matter of time before a wood nymph would gain the confidence to take off his mask or alert the gods of his presence. So the privacy was, indeed, a blessing. And now, he can sleep without his mask and hood on which was, in itself, a blessing, a chance to finally breath air how it was ment to be in peace.

In his solitude, however, he was able to give his vision more thought. And in doing so, his fear only increased. That monster in the woods, was that just the start of all... all that chaos? What is so powerful, so strong that we need Ouranos, Gaea, and Tartarus' as well as the giants and Titan's help? What are we up against? Letting out a grand sigh, he knew that dwelling on it for too long will only lead him to more questions than answers. But he could never stop his brain from returning to it, pondering what it was trying to tell him besides the fact that it physically shows another war was comming.

Another thing that started where the offerings. It scared Aiónios to the core the first time he started randomly hearing demigods' voices in his head and smelling the food sacrificed to him. Luke's and Nico's (Percy assumed Hades told him about his alias and everything since he obviously basically made the outfit for him) where always using his real name while others used his alias. It was bitter sweet, especially when Annabeth started praying to him to watch over Percy, aka himself. But her's weren't the only ones who prayed for him. Many others (mostly the other seven as well as Connor and Travis and others who knew him) also prayed for Aiónios to protect Percy Jackson, which made him feel VERY awkward many times. Something new every day... at least being immortal isn't as boring as I thought it'd be so far. I wonder when I'll get my true god/titan form... if I even have one that is...

He rubbed his left temple with his left forefinger and sighed as he slumped down in a chair made of rock he chiseled with his old sword. Speaking of which... he pulled out said sword, which was in pen form at the moment. He uncapped Riptide and watched as it grew into a beautiful celestial bronze blade. He gave it a once over and realized something, it doesn't feel... as good as it used to. It's now too light and... and it's not balanced anymore. He sighed once again as he capped the blade and glanced out of the cave and at the dusking sea. The waters reflecting the golden sun as well as the pinks and purples that trailed in it's wake. Dusk and dawn where his favorite times of day. He always woke to bask in the growing sun and wave goodbye as Apollo faded below the horizon.

Apollo...

He remembered the god of the sun, medicine, and arts such as music, archery and poetry. Most people will argue that archery isn't an art, but it was to Percy, like swordsmanship. He twiddled his thumbs as he wondered of Apollo even knew that he was Aiónios, or if that god was as oblivious as the others. He's been careful to cover his tracks, but he'd never know.

Temporary switch to Apollo's pov:

It bothered me, no, infuriated me that I didn't know who the Aiónios fellow was! I am the awesome one! Golden eyes? Pfft! I possibly have better looking golden eyes than he does! I can make them gold, blue, magenta, any color I want!

However, I can't say too much, he has saved my children many times but... HOW IN HADES CAN HE CONTINUE HIDING FROM ME!!!??? I know EVERYTHING! So why in Hades can't I find him! All the other gods are on my as well as Arty's ass about finding who this new guy is! Zeus keeps whining about him being a threat. And he is! But only to my superior good looks! What if he is better looking than I am? I mean, that's impossible unless he is a god of handsomeness and awesomeness, but that is me so obviously no. So I'm not too threatened... but right now, it hurts my pride not knowing! I know EVERYTHING! I have to figure out who this new guy is, and why he is finally showing himself now.

Some rumors (obviously spread by Aphrodite *rolls eyes*) are that it could be Kronos, but then why would he be protecting demigods? And Percy HAS to be dead right now. I mean, I can't find him and Hades had said that it was a possibility, but he seemed kinda off about it. Like he wasn't telling the complete truth but whatever. Oh! I feel a haiku comming!

Quick Artemis Pov:

(Your welcome for saving you from that torture 😅)

I've been tracking this ' Aiónios ' character with my hunters for the longest time. Ever since the first sighting of him. Thalia and I have held onto the hope that he is Percy. But we also know that it could be Kronos, trying to get demigods to feel indebted to him so he can later recruit them for another war. And with Percy as his host...

I can't bare the thought. Neither can Thalia or my other hunters who respect Perseus with all their hearts. He save me, saved Annabeth, Thalia, and many other maidens. I want to find him, I want to help him. I want to rid Kronos from him before he taints the only pure and true male out there.

But I need to find him first!

"Lady Artemis!" Thalia called from the my left. I rushed through the woods and to the area where I heard my hunter's voice. My lieutenant stared down at the floor, her eyes wide and her bow unslung. I glanced down and saw a disturbance on the ground, as if someone wrote or drew something and wipped it away, and some drops of golden ichor in a trail.

He's close...

Back to Aiónios (Percy):

He suspected that Apollo was most likely furious, the thought made him smiled. He knew that Artemis was possibly annoyed too... he wondered what was going through the goddess' head. Did she want to kill him? Or help him? He didn't know. All he knew was that she'd find him, eventually. But for now, he would enjoy his alone time. He glanced outside again and saw that the sun was completely set. He grabbed his mask and cloak, put them on and stepped out of his cave and into the cool night air. The symphony of night bugs met his ears as he inhaled the salty scent of the vast, mighty sea. He then adjusted his equipment and glanced towards the direction of New York City. His cloak swished majestically in the soft breeze as he narrowed his eyes at the brightening city in the distance. He flicked his wrist and dragged downwards causing time to slow, not stop, as he started his stroll towards the mighty American city.

Time to save some heroes.

Sorry for the delay! Due to my chaotic scedual, I am temporarily postponing my "only update on this day" status because, obviously I can't. After Thanksgiving, when my scedual is normal, I will once again work like that again. Thank you for understanding my situation 😊
