The Day After

"Martha, I don't think we're in California anymore!" my grandfather said to my grandmother.

And we weren't. 

Without thinking too much and hard about how we might have gotten here, I decided to take a quick peek around. 

The tornado had left us stranded on the beach of a deserted island. Actually, the whole island was a beach with palm trees in the middle. It was about a kilometre long. The only animals present were birds, which were looking curiously at us from far up in the palm trees. 

"Hello," I said to them as they were our new neighbours.
