LGBTQ - A Family Reunion
Sarah Jenkins hasn't seen her brother for years since he moved out of the house once he told the family about his sexuality. She was able to accept it but it wasn't the same story for her parents.
Growing up in a tight-knit family should mean that there shouldn't be any loopholes involved. At least that's what Sarah thought. But throughout the years, many family secrets popped up and things changed around their household. And ever since Jaime mentioned that he liked guys rather than girls, their mom blew up.
Mrs. Jenkins held a whole lecture that day in front of her kids and that's when Jaime decided to move out. At least Mr. Jenkins was more tolerant, as he did have a brother that was gay and accepted it. And due to that fact, Mrs. Jenkins kept blaming her husband's family for making her son who he is today.
And so the Jenkins family were never the same again, but Sarah decided to change that for the upcoming holidays. After all, bygones should be bygones, and she missed her dear brother.
"I'm afraid of meeting your family, Jaime. Do you think they'll like me?" asked a redhead beside the dark-haired one.
Jaime reassured his partner that he felt the same way too, but after he got a call from his sister, who left numerous calls on his cellphone before he picked it up, he couldn't resist.
"You are not alone in this Nixy." Holding his hand tightly, they proceeded up the steps of his childhood home for the Christmas reunion.
I'm sure my sister will love you, as she always wanted a brother-in-law."
Phoenix looked into Jaime's dark brown eyes and smiled.
He knew that they were bound to be together after they met a year ago. Phoenix had been an orphan and had a hard time with his adopted parents that he left to seek refuge.
Thankfully, he met Jaime through a mutual friend and since then the two have been inseparable. And Phoenix just wanted to belong, he wanted to be part of a family that would accept him for who he was.
As soon as Jaime rang the doorbell, Sarah opened it as if she had been waiting for them all this time. She hugged her estranged brother as soon as she saw him.
"It's so good to see you again Jaime. I missed you so much!"
Turning her head to eye the handsome stranger next to him, she asked to be introduced to him.
"This Sarah is my partner in crime and soon - to be husband, Phoenix. I call him Nixy for short, and he's my knight in shining armor."
This embarrassed Phoenix, but he knew he would do the same for Jaime as well.
Sarah hugged her soon to be brother-in-law and told them to come in.
She knew it had been some time her aging parents haven't seen Jaime, but they had to make amends before the year was over.
