Prologue

KYLINE BELLAMY BRIAS CHUA

"Ky, you okay diyan?" Rico raised since Leo signaled him that the whole fountain area was too hot at the moment.

They informed us naman ahead of time na possible na mainit dahil sa weather forecast, but I didn't want to bother anyone kasi none of them naman complained.

Aside from Leo . . . for me.

"Dalawang fan, please?"

Rico was assisting one of the caretakers of Vizcarra's farm, he asked for stand fans para daw hindi super init sa area namin.

Rico would always be the alpha of their group. He was always at the back, looking out for his pack no matter how messy they were. I admired the idea that Pat chose him as the best man for this wedding because Rico really is the best. And I still remember him fixing the boys' ridiculous antics during their college days. I even got a chance na maalagaan niya during the days na nasa tiyan ko pa lang si Eugene. He loved spoiling me with different foods.

Ine-expect din naming si Calvin sana ang best man pero ayaw ni Melanie. Lalong ayaw ni Pat kasi nire-ready na yata ni Calvin ang hate speech niya for this event. Calvin wasn't a nag, but he was the most overprotective of them all. He even protected me before to the point na akala nila, may gusto siya sa 'kin. But things happened.

I didn't expect na isa ako sa maid of honor ni Melanie. Though Jaesie was her matron of honor, and we both handled responsibilities sa wedding, Mel chose me to be here beside her.

Patrick chose me too since he was asking for my assistance during Mel's pregnancy. I remembered way back when I was twenty, Patrick was the one asking me what milk I wanted to drink and he would buy that for me. Napapangiti na lang ako kapag naaalala kong ayaw kasi akong bilhan ni Leo ng gatas na gusto ko.

Pat is a good guy, and Mel is a good friend. They both deserved each other, and I am so happy that they both ended up having this special day.

Malamig na rin sa puwesto namin. I got Leo's attention as I craned my neck toward their direction, a few meters away from us.

I inaudibly said, "Thank you," and gave him a short flying kiss, followed by, "I love you."

Leo smiled at me and raised his right hand. He raised a pinky, and index finger and extended his thumb to create an "I love you" sign in sign language.

It's been twelve years and he's still here with me. We have Eugene, and Luan is home with his tita ninang.

It's been twelve years . . . since I told him that if he stayed with me until Eugene could finally take care of me, I would marry him.

Iyon na lang naman ang kulang sa aming dalawa.

Kasal na lang.

After all those reckless years . . . kasal na lang.
