CHAPTER 22
The sun was slow to rise on the horizon that day. It was hesitating, as if it was scared of what it might see when it rose. The wind howled as it blew, declaring a warning to all those who were there and the leaves fluttered in worry. The rosy tint had just begun to illuminate the horizon.
An earthy scent filled the air, which wasn't too surprising considering the environment, but it smelt wrong, wrong enough to wake up the two sleeping agents with a jolt.
"Who's there?" They asked Libra, who was the one currently awake and keeping watch.
"No clue, but the aura is entirely wrong and misbalanced. We should be on our guard," Libra replied.
Gemini and Aquarius sat up straighter and tried to figure out where the unease was coming from when columns of Earth shot up, catching the rising sun. Three to be exact.
They immediately jumped up and attempted to open the helicopter door but it was stuck fast. No amount of normal pushing could make it open.
The pillars of Earth now began taking humanlike shapes, a display of power they had previously seen from their teammates Capricorn, Virgo and Taurus. However, there was no way those three could be here, near to the Andes when they were supposed to be in India. Therefore, it must be someone who bore the same power.
Gemini shifted into a feral creature and tried to break down the door, but surprisingly sturdy vines shot out and encircled the entire helicopter, binding it tight. She attempted to slash at the windows, which she succeeded in, but immediately more vines shot through the broken windows to capture them.
Libra threw them off with a huge gust of air and immediately jumped out before the vines could shoot at her again. The rest followed her lead, except for a gash on Gemini's leg.
Pushing themselves into the air, they looked down at the ruined helicopter which was gradually being covered by moss. The humanoid columns of soil seemed to shake the dirt off and there stood three people— two girls and a guy.
They were smiling.
"Who TF are you all?" Gemini asked, hoping that they were capable of speech.
"Shadow Earth signs," the girl in the middle said in a monotone, and still with that eerie smile. On closer inspection, they looked like dolls, created by someone whose understanding of the human exterior was limited to the concept of four limbed creatures, who could speak and smile.
"We would ask you for a bargain, but news is that the other two groups haven't agreed yet, and thus, we are to believe that we shall have to use force," the other girl stated calmly.
"That's just plain rude," Gemini said, irritated, "Is this how the Seven Deadly Sins operate nowadays?"
"I am afraid to say that we aren't affiliated with that zoo," the first girl stated, cocking her head to one side.
The man spoke for the first time then, "Our goals match however, which is why—"
"We must get to you before they do," the last girl stated before all hell broke loose.
Strings of mud collided with claws and air jets, turning the place into a bloody battlefield. Rocks fell from the mountains, grazing their limbs and drawing blood.
This wasn't a fight they could win, was the general consensus of the agents, which causes their pessimism, even for Libra who believed that there was always a balance between good things and bad things.
The man in the dimly lit room licked his lips, amused at the display of power in the screen in front of him. The air signs of the agents were clearly inexperienced as they went full out right from the beginning of the fight, not caring for others seeing their moves and making up moves to counter them.
They took too long to action, which was a severe drawback as well, which made them the weakest link in the group. Air powers were pretty effective but they appeared as if they hadn't realised the full potential of it. Along with the fact that they were careless enough to sleep in a foreign terrain, making them open to attacks.
He smiled again as he completed the final roster of who would fight who to achieve his goal.
Behind him the beasts continued to snarl.
NOTE: Uh so, I deeply apologize for taking this long to update and for the short chapter. Happy belated Christmas everyone and an advance Happy New Year!!
