Chapter 1 pt 1
I baked a cake to celebrate my friends birthday, for which I came to her house yesterday. It's a fair distance, so I didn't get the chance to update yesterday. Here you go!
Previously, Ward finally faced against his brother and won, only to be shot. Can Fitz and Simmons save him? And is this really the last we've seen from his brother? Find out!

The Writing on the Wall
"We forgave everyone else." I say, "Why not Ward?"
"He saved my life, Coulson," Fitz added.
"I can't believe I wasn't there," says May. "I think we can trust him. He's dying on a slab because I wasn't there to protect you."
"He saved Fitz. I realize that it could just be a ploy to get us to trust him again, but you remember how he didn't kill his brother. He hated Christian." Simmons says, "He'd at least get rid of him to save his life."
"He risked his life for me and Fitz." I say, "He deserves a second chance for that."
"Fine. But one hair out of line, and he goes." Coulson says.
"Yes!" I say. "See ya. I'm going to tell Ward the good news."
Coulson's Office
One Day Later
"That writing's a mystery. I can't find anything about it." I comment while D.C. (Director Coulson) carves the very writing I speak of.
Jazz music plays in the background. "I know," Coulson says, "I couldn't sleep. I just wish we knew more about it."
"Also, Christian Ward escaped," I add.
Coulson sighs. "Great. Just what we need."
I nod. "We sent a team on it. It includes May, Hunter, and Bobbi."
"Good thinking, Skye," Coulson says.
"Thank you."
I go back to Ward. But I should probably call him Grant now that his brother is on the loose.
I hesitate, "Grant?"
He startles at the use of his first name. He's out of bed now (He insisted), and moves around a little, "Yeah, Skye?"
"It's about your brother, he escaped," I say, trying for gently.
"What?" W-Grant says.
"We're waiting for confirmation on his capture," I whisper, almost trying not to be heard.
He sinks to the floor, cradling his head in his hands, "I should have killed him when I had a chance."
"Hey, Hey!" I say, grabbing his attention, "Letting someone live is not weakness, it's a real strength." I realize that that was what Coulson said to me when I had let Ward live. "Do you remember when I revealed the coordinates for my hard drive in exchange for your life? I was saying the same thing. That I should have let you die. But giving mercy isn't a weakness, Ward. Grant. It's a truer strength than Garrett or your brother can ever understand. They're too weak. They're weak and they hurt you to convince themselves they are strong. All they prove by that is how weak they are. Loving someone and supporting someone? That's genuine strength. And you have that Ward. Grant. That's why they're trying to beat it out of you. Never let them succeed, Ward. Never let their weakness overtake your strength."
