Chapter 6

It was the moment of truth and a pivotal motion of Agent X to confront the man responsible for all the evil atrocities conducted on him, leaving an empty gap of his past life a mystery. He opened the door to the control room, and pointed the gun at Deshed from behind. Deshed froze, hearing the gun click. "It was only a matter of time until you showed up."

"Turn around, slowly," Agent X said.

Deshed turned to face Agent X. "This won't change anything."

"Take me to the Zela drugs," Agent X pointed his gun to Deshed's head. "Hands up!"

"You think by killing me would stop us? Cut off one head and another will resume my role." Deshed frowned.

"Well, I'll just need a bigger ax then. Move!" Agent X shoved Deshed forward.

"So desperate to know your past. I'm the only one who knows who you are. You think you are some kind of hero? That you will find any kind of redemption?"

"Have you looked in the mirror lately? You have more skeletons in your closet, Deshed. You stole my life like you did with the others. I think we both know there is no redemption in what you did. Keep moving." Agent X pushed him forward.

Agent X was sure Deshed wouldn't give up any clue of his true identity. In that respect, he held all the cards over the seasoned assassin. Regardless of the truth, Agent X had to eradicate the Zela drugs and deal with the Raven Agency. He sees them as a hostel threat to the government. There was no telling what targets the Raven Agency had planned to eliminate or how many people they would use as guinea pigs to carry out their sordid little schemes. Agent X knew what had to be done and there was no going back for him.

When Agent X got to the door, leading to the Zela drugs, Deshed opened the door and they both entered the room. Inside there was a large lab and several tables. There were at least twenty people wearing black gloves, white poncho coats, gas masks and goggles, working around the clock cooking up the Zela drugs that was similar to a crystal meth lab. They stopped what they were doing gazed at Deshed and Agent X. They had their hands up and panicked.

"Is this all the drugs you have?" Agent X asked.

"Yes, please don't kill us!" One man in a gas mask said.

"Leave this place before I change my mind," Agent X said.

All drug makers ran out of the room while Agent X was still pointing his gun at Deshed. He trashed the place, pushing glass and all the pills on the floor. Deshed brows furrowed at the site of Agent X's actions.

"That's enough Agent X and I suggest you drop your weapon or she will die." Agent L held a gun to Casey's head.

Deshed Smirked."Well, it looks like the table had turned."

The mission was compromised and Agent X had no choice to comply with Agent L's request, fearing the outcome of Casey's fate would be severe. He couldn't afford to lose her. A part of him wished he took him out sooner and to end that repugnant smirk, beaming off Deshed's face and showing all of his white perfect teeth just to mock him. Agent X's free hand balled into a fist as he sighed.

"Drop your gun and kick it to me," Agent L said.

"Don't do it Agent X," Casey said.

"Shut up!" Agent L, said, "Enough talk from you! Drop your weapon or she dies."

Agent X dropped his gun and kicked it toward Agent L. His eyes narrowed at the sight of him.

"Smart move," Agent L said.

Agent X saw the look of fear from Casey's eyes and couldn't stand the nerve of Agent L barking orders as if he was in control of the situation. Things got worse when more soldiers showed up and all weapons were pointed at Agent X. Feeling like a cornered fox, his options seemed slim in his enemies eyes. But, in Agent X's hindsight, he believed a cornered Fox is not completely helpless. The element of surprise can change like the four seasons. Rage filled Agent X's heart and his focus was keen on everyone in the room. Deshed felt nervous at Agent X's stance, staring at his eyes signified that he was about to do something.

"Take him out, now!" Deshed said.

Casey screamed."No!"

Agent L fired his gun. Agent X dodged it with grace. He ran up on up on one soldier that was nearest to him, hitting his throat and got behind him as the soldiers opened fire, turning the soldier into a tattered rag doll as the bullets ripped him apart. Agent X took his gun and fired back, taking down seven soldiers. One got shot in the chest, another got a head shot. He rolled to the side, firing more shots. Shooting down another soldier in the leg followed by two bullets to the head. Agent X was picking them off like a carnival prize. Deshed ran for cover leaving the room as Agent L followed, dragging Casey out the room. One soldier came at Agent X with a knife. He dodged the blade, took the soldier's arm and tried to break it, the soldier caught on and countered it and kicked Agent X at the table.

The Soldier lunged forward at the table as Agent moved to the side avoiding the blade, but managed to cut Agent X's shoulder as he curved the knife. Glancing at his surroundings, Agent X got off from the table and reached for a glass beaker filled with blue chemicals. When the soldier edged closer and attempted to attack him with a knife again, Agent X smashed the beaker at the soldier's face as it burned and melted his skin off, hitting the floor, screaming in agony.

Agent picked up a gun and didn't hesitate to shoot him in the heart, ending his prolonged suffering. He ran out the room, tracking down Deshed and Agent L, hoping to rescue Casey from their clutches. That plan was short-lived when more soldiers came rolling in with more guns. Agent X delivered a death stare to all of them and began to attack. On the outskirts, near the parking lot, Deshed and Agent L left the Raven Agency with Casey and all they heard was gunfire and screams that muffled in the air and then silence.

"What are you waiting for, get the car ready and put her in the trunk!" Deshed said with a slight fear in his voice.

Casey struggled, calling out Agent X as Agent L opened the trunk and shoved her in it and closed it. Deshed got inside the driver seat and turned on the ignition that was slow to crank. He beat at the steering wheel, cursing up a storm.

Agent X heard one soldier was moaning from the hallway as he clawed for a gun that was five inches from him. That didn't happen since Agent X stepped on his wounded leg, applying pressure as the soldier screamed in agony. Without delay, Agent X fired two shots into the soldier's head. He heard the car wheels squealing from outside. Agent X bolted through the door, seeing Deshed and Agent L leave from the parking lot. Agent X ran outside and got into Casey's car and followed them.

Deshed whipped the sweat off his forehead, while checking his side view mirror. " I think we last h--"

"You were saying?" Agent L said.

Agent X gained extra speed in hot pursuit of Deshed and Agent L. His eyes blazed more with rage as he applied more speed catching up to them. Deshed tried turning into lanes fast but it wasn't enough to slow him down.

Agent L started shooting at Agent X. An exchange, Agent X returned fire, trying to take him out. He got a shot in Agent L's arm.

"We need to lose him," Deshed said. He reached into his cell phone and made a call. "Operation 9-1-2."

Agent X glanced at his right and received gunfire from someone riding a motorcycle. "You want to play? Let's play!"

Agent X rammed the car against the cyclists, causing him to flip off his bike as the perpetrator collided against another driver's windshield and landed on the road. He kept on after Deshed and Agent L, while thinking of a way to get Casey back. Deshed was desperate and was willing to try anything to get away from Agent X, even if that meant cutting deals within his olive branch. Nothing was off limits. He still had friends in high places.

Agent X called Deshed's cell phone from one of the dead soldier's he took from. He answered the call, feeling even more fearful of what he would do.

"You got one of two choices? Either you pull over, or I will make you. It's your call," Agent X said in a cold tone.
