Chapter 19

The gunman turned his head buckling his seat belt. "Cypher is gone. I thought the old man would be alone. Who was that man that was with him?" The gunman injected himself in the neck with an orange vial of Zela drug as he cracked his neck to the side.

Alicia clenched her teeth. "Agent X."

The gunman turned to Alicia while his eyes bulged. "Wait, that was him? This isn't what I signed up for. Where are you taking me?"

"Quiet." Alicia sighed as she picked up her cellphone as it rang three times.

"Cypher is dead." Alicia drove her car in the middle of the road, resting her cell phone on the charging port while putting on bluetooth.

"And what of Agent X?" Deshed asked.

Alicia sighed.

Deshed tapped his fingers at his desk. "He is supposed to be dead, Alicia. I had expected the task to be done with clear precision.

"If you give me another chance, I won't let you down."

"No, I will leave this task to more capable hands."

Alicia raised her eyebrows."Casey? With all due respect, can you truly trust her?"

"Need I remind you where I found you. You were living in the streets. I took you in, fed you and gave you purpose. I suppose we will find out where her loyalty lies. Meet me at the Complex. I want you to pick up and deliver a package for me."

Alicia scrunched up her nose turning her wheel of the car. "What's in the package?"

"Just meet me there." Deshed ended the call.

"Come pick a package for me," Alicia said in a mocking tone.

"Sounds like the boss has it in for you," The gunman looked straight ahead of the road.

Alicia rolled up her eyes. "I didn't ask for your input."

"Are you always uptight?"

"Say another word and you find yourself at the bottom of the creek."

"You don't scare--"

Before he said another word, Alicia punched the gunman in the throat as he struggled for breath and coughed.

"Now, you will do as I say for here on out. And if I get a hint of defiance, you're finished." Alicia pulled over on the curb of the road.

"Get the hell out of my car." Alicia hit the unlock button on the doors.

The gunman left the car as he slammed the door. He walked up the street with a frown on his face as he gripped his hand. Alicia drove off picking up speed.

The gunman went up to his apartment complex. He walked through the hallway approaching a white door. He pulled out his silver key from his pocket and unlocked the door. He switched on the light switch adjacent to the wall. As he tread through the room with a twenty gallon tank embedded into the wall that had African Cichlid fish with yellow, blue and red color. A black cat rubbed against his leg and meowed.

"Hey, Jax, I'll get your food." The gunman petted his cat.

The gunman reached for a black plastic bowl and a bag of Cat Chow from the cabinet. He poured the food in the bowl and placed it on the floor as the cat moved toward it and ate while purring.

As the gunman walked into the living room, his eyes widened at the sight of Agent X, sitting on a black leather cough, pointing a gun at the gunman's head.

"Is this the best the Raven Agency can throw at me?" Agent X blanketed his eyes as he sighed.

The gunman stood still.

"Hands where I can see them. "Sit down."

The gunman kept his hands in front view while he sat on a chair."How did you find me?"

Agent X eyes locked to the gunman with a deadpan stare."I ask the questions. You are gonna tell me what I want to know. Where does Deshed hold the rest of the Zela drugs?"

The gunman sighed staring at Agent X. "I have nothing to say to you."

Agent X shot the gunman's arm as he clutched his wound. Jax ran past his leg.

Agent X glanced at the cat with his eyes and back at the gunman."I will ask again where will find the Zela drugs?"

The gunman squinted his eyes. "If you're gonna kill me. Get on with it."

Agent X clicked the gun."Not until you tell me what I need to know."

"Okay, okay I will talk." The gunman reached for a glass full of water and chucked the glass at Agent X's face as the gun discharged.

The gunman tackled Agent X for the gun as they both struggled for dominance. The gunman bit Agent X's hand as he screamed. Agent X kneed him between the legs and pushed him off.

Agent X took the gunman by the hand and pounded his head on the wooden floor. Agent X got up and kicked the gunman on the side of his ribs as he pointed the gun at the gunman's head as his hands raised. "I am assuming you are juiced up on Zela, which means you are a liability I can't afford to let live."

The gunman gritted his bloody teeth as he spat out blood. "Just pull the trigger already."

A cell phone vibrated on the table. Agent X leaned on the table to Answer while keeping an eye on the gunman. "Hello."

"X, you have to leave. They are coming."

Agent X eyes widen. "Casey?"

"You have no reason to trust me. Deshed's crew is heading your way.

Glass was shattered in the window as smoke grenades were thrown in. A door was busted through as five armed men dressed in black uniforms with lasers danced in the smoke. Gun fire obliterated the walls with holes, ripping through furniture, cabinets, tables and the body of the gunman.

As the armed walked forward, one of them gave the group the hand signal to move in with their guns up. Out of the corner, Agent X snatched one gun from the gunman and shot him in the head. He shot two armed men in the chest with skill. Agent X did a forward roll in the smoke and shot another armed shooter in the chest. He got up and shot him in the head twice.

Agent X jumped out of the window as he ran to his car. He got in and took off. "That was a close call."

Out of nowhere, a car with high beams hit Agent X's car with high speed from the side forcing the car off the rails as it crashed to the bottom of the ravine in an explosion.

After looking at the flames consuming the battered vehicle from the bottom of the cliff, the driver reversed the car and drove on. The driver called Deshed.

"It's done. Agent X has been taken off the board."

"Excellent, meet me at the Den."

"You got it boss." The driver hung up.

Agent X's hand clutched hard the rocks and thick root, pulling himself to the top as he sighed looking up in the night sky.

Agent X got up as he staggered to his feet. His cell phone rang. He pulled out of his pocket and answered as he looked around. "Hello."

Casey sighed."Thank God, you are alive."

Agent X frowned as he clenched his teeth."No, you don't get to say that after you double crossed me."

"I'm taking a lot of risk contacting you."

"Why is that? Are you afraid Deshed might find out you've been sneaking around behind his back? Whose side are you really on?"

"I'm trying to help you."

"You call sending armed men trying to kill me, help?"

"Deshed thinks you are dead. That can play to our advantage."

Agent X sighed. "What do you mean we? Last I check, you are not the one who got shot at and almost fell down off a cliff. What angle are you playing?

"We both want the same thing."

"So, what? We are back to being allies. You sailed that boat long before you got in bed with Deshed.

"Where are you right now?"

Agent X looked around. "In the middle of nowhere."

A blue Looper driver's car was coming toward Agent X direction as he waved at it. "I got to go."

"Wait." Agent X hung up.

The car stopped and a person rolled down his window. Agent X walked up to the car.

"Hey, you look lost. Is everything okay?" The driver asked.

"I need a ride."

"My shift just finished but I'm able to do one last round. Where to?"

Agent X got into the back seat and looked at the white sheet of Paper with Hugo's address. "Take me to 41 Palace Drive."

"Alright, that will be twenty-two eighty."

Agent X looked at the driver. "I don't have any money."

The driver looked at Agent X. "Don't worry about it. I will take you where you need to go."

Agent X half smirked. "Thanks."

The driver turned his wheel. "I'm just paying it forward."
