PLANNING A FUN TRIP
Welcome TO CHAPTER THREE!
Avery P.O.V.
[And that's that sir. Here, I have something for you.] I said as I handed him two A.I. chips. [I know what you are planning, and these should help you.]
"Thank you. Counselor get them set up. Make copies of me and give them to California and Maryland." The Director said as he handed the weird things to the counselor.
"Yes sir." The counselor said, walking away.
"Yo. Director. Its ready." Alpha said as he appeared. "Good. Agent Maryland I have a little gift for you. Report to the lab please."
I nodded and walked off. As I exit the room I am greeted by every member of project freelancer. an agent walked forward. "So, magic boy. I am going to guess you are off the hook?" she said as she looked back at the rest. I nod and move to walk past them. They moved out of the way and looked at me like they wanted to kill me. Smirking under my helmet I use my enhancement to throw their helmets in the air and stuck them to the ceiling.
As I reached the lab I saw Texas and Carolina. I nodded at them and walked in. "Hello agent Maryland, please lay on the table." one of the doctors said as she gestured to a table. I walked over to the table and I lay down, watching them stick a needle in me.
2 hours later
I groan as I wake up. My throat felt like it was on fire. "Morning big boy." A voice next to me said. I look over and see an agent in blood red and black WRATH armor.
(Again the pic did not work so it is above.)
"Agent California, we never really talked. I watched you during your first week in the cell." The agent said. "Also they never told you what your surgery was. Did they?" I shook my head no. "They gave you a new chatterbox." I cock my eyebrow in confusion. "A new voice?" that made more sense.
"h-h-h-hello." I managed to croak out.
"Hello agent Maryland." California giggled. I scowled.
"Relax she is just like that." A new voice says from the doorway. I turned to the door and see David leaning against the frame. "Very chatty, very crazy." He said as he walked over.
"You only act like that towards me because I nearly blew you up." She said as she pulled a grenade out of the holster. "If you couldnt tell I'm the demolition expert."
"I kind of assumed. You reek of gunpowder and napalm. When was the last time you washed your armor?" I said as I got up. As David and California argued I remembered how to talk properly.
"Anyway Maryland, can I call you Mad instead? Because of well- the little rage show you put on." California said as she put the grenade away.
"Only if I can call you Cali." I replied. She reminded me one of my partners in Project Omicron. "MAD! You on board?" Cali said as she waved her hand in my face.
"Yeah, just remembering something." I said as I started to put my armor on.
"Thinking about her?" David said as he looked at me.
"Yes." I said as I slipped my helmet on.
"Her?" Cali asked.
"You can tell her. The rest of the freelancers forced the info out of me." David said as he left the room. I sighed.
"Later." I said as I walked towards the bridge. "I think someone is waiting for us in the briefing room."
"How can you tell?" Cali asked as she put her hands behind her back. "I mean, you haven't been awake for all that long, and you know that the Director was waiting for you."
I just grinned as I kept walking. "A magician never reveals his secrets." I said as I laughed. David just groaned and facepalmed as Cali laughed.
As we entered the room, I noticed several agents, the Counselor, and the Director standing around the table. "What did I miss?" I asked in a Scottish accent as I threw my hands up. Cali stifled a laugh.
"Very funny agent Maryland. This is the most crucial moment for project freelancer." The Director said as he leaned over the table. "As our number one agent, Agent Carolina will be leading this mission."
Carolina took her position at the front of the screen. she pressed a few buttons that controlled the holographic projectors, brining up a tower. "Okay, here's what we have. As you may have heard, there is suspected Insurrection activity in this area. Our intel says that members of the UNSC loyal to the insurrection have acquired a high level asset and are holding it in this secure location."
"Sounds fun. What's the catch?" I asked her.
"I am suddenly regretting giving you that voice." The Director sighed.
"It's a hundred and ten-story building in the middle of an urban environment." Carolina said.
"What does security look like?" Wyoming asked in his classy British accent.
"Most likely enough to fill a hundred and ten-story building, Brit." I replied. The rest of the freelancers sighed or stifled a laugh.
"What Maryland said." Carolina replied.
"That's a lot of security." California muttered.
"We're up to it." Carolina said firmly.
A red line snaked up the tower and ended at a specific point inside. "Our job is to infiltrate the building, work our way to the floor where the Sarcophagus is being held, and secure it."
"The Sarcophagus?" North questioned.
"That is what we are calling the primary objective." The Director explained.
"But since this is a high-level asset, we need to access a key code to open the Sarcophagus."
"I'm guessing they don't keep that just taped to the side." David said sarcastically.
"Yeah it's not like the mission we had in umm... darn what was the name of that facility. The one with the big ass vault." I said as I remembered one of the early missions.
"That was a interesting mission." David replied.
"Back on track you two. It's held by an official of the program who will be moving in a vehicle along the freeway between inspections. That's when we'll hit the facility." Holograms display a freeway and several moving vehicles. One of them flashes red and stops. an image of the officials face appears above it. "We need to acquire the targets within minutes of each other. We fail that, the remaining target will enter lockdown, and we miss our window."
"We will not have another chance at this." A monotone voiced Director said.
"I'm not so sure of that sir." I said as I pushed a few buttons. "If I can get to the lockdown zone for the official, I can ambush them. If I know what kind of metal a certain metallic object, I can tune my enhancement to maximize it's power to certain metals."
"Very useful Agent Maryland, but not nessacery. You and Agent California will have a separate mission." The Director said as he pushed a few buttons. A military base appeared above the table. "You will be sabotaging this base, for when the teams secure the objectives, they will take action. Your jobs are to prevent this, as well as get as much information out of their systems."
"Just me and California?" I asked.
"Yes. Stealth is the most crucial part of this mission. I want you to limit your use of that prototype as much as possible. Use as if it is a trump card, but they are ants." The Director said as he closed the hologram. "Go and get prepared. Dismissed."
THE ARMORY
"Your first mission with project freelancer." Cali said as she grabbed a sniper.
"Never took you for a sniper." I said as I grabbed a shotgun and dual Smg's.
"I can use any weapon efficiently, But this is a stealth mission, so I am playing the part. From your loadout, I am guessing you like to deal with things up close and personal." She said as she grabbed PLENTY of explosives.
"Got that right. I had a sword made of a mixture of different metals, and alien tech, that helped boost my enhancement. Lost it sadly." I said as I grabbed some bullets and put them in a compartment in the arms and legs of my suit.
"Why did you do that?" She asked me. I looked at her and smirked, then walked away. "HEY! Don't ignore me!" she shouted as she chased after me. "Oh wait my helmet." I chuckled as she ran back for her helmet.
As we reached the hanger, I got annoyed by the constant questions she asked about my past.
"What was Omicron like? Have a Girlfriend? Wife? Kids?" She rapidly asked.
"Painful, too personal, too personal, the day I have kids is the day I retire." I sighed. "Now shut up."
Cali looked at me like I killed her puppy with at 12 gauge shotgun to the face, pissed on it, then burned what was left.
"Meanie." she pouted as we got on the pelican. "Let's have a fun trip, Alright?"
I'M BACK! How's ya'll doing? Having fun? Wondering what my plan is? Welp, Ya won't get any answers out of me! Read to find out! PEACE!
