At the farm

Ah yes Christmas what a wonderful time of the year a year for people give, family and friends come together to spend time, and the naughty get punished. That sounded better in my head... oh well, moving on. The Johnsons tended to be over the top, as you know accounting the 4th of July and Thanksgiving. Skyla, believe it or not, was actually the planner, Avery and the Kids just obeyed, as they don't like it when she doesn't get her way. Think of a cybernetic shark with a laser cannon, then multiply that by like, 3000. Well, taking care of 16 kinds and a husband, you tend to get a little crazy. but they were a family, and got along great... until Skyla decided to start running the holidays, then Avery made the wise choice of staying with Jericho and the twins until Christmas Eve, when he would come home in the evening, where Skyla would fuss at him for being gone for two weeks.

But we are not here for Christmas Eve, we are here for Christmas Day. With a little more fun.

Christmas Eve

Avery and Skyla were sleeping, as quiet as a mouse, not a sound could be heard, even the little Jay was quiet on this special night, But not all the residents of this merry home were asleep, no, there in her bed, sat a nervous feline, who could not sleep. She paced her room, too exited for the nest day, she knew the jolly man would not arrive until she slept, but she just couldn't, she was too energetic. she walked in circles before going back to bed, slowly falling asleep. Just as she was at the brink of sleep, she heard the familiar sound of the creaking of boards in the living room, where the fireplace lay cold, where a glass of milk and plate of cookies wait to be enjoyed.

Silent as she was, she climbed out of bed, and slipped out the open window, not daring to use the door, incase of alerting the person in the living room. Klione climbed to the roof, stealthy as a ninja. But when she turned to face the open chimney, what did she see? She saw Dasher and Dancer, and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. She saw a big red sleigh, but it looked different from the books. but something was missing. Where was the most famous Reindeer of all?

"Woah." Klione said as she climbed to the top of the roof, where the sleigh as Reindeer float. "It's real!" She whispered. Being the curious cat she was, Klione climbed up into the sleigh, and saw many fancy gadgets and an old fashion map, along with a steaming cup of joe. But enough of the curious kitty, who turns out not to be the only Johnson awake.

Inside the house floated a esper, who had felt someone enter the house. A little girl walked beside him, rubbing her tired eyes. She awake to get a glass of water, and bumped into Rex along the way. she dragged along her teddy bear, when April spoke, "Why are you awake big brother?"

"Someone I d." replied Rex as he made April float. "I was going to find out who."

"Is it Santa Claus?!" April asked, her eyes wide.

"Maybe, but we just have to see, don't we?" Rex asked as he booped her nose, causing her to giggle.

Rex floated them down the four flights of stairs to the living room, where they hear someone humming.

"Brother, is it him?" April asked as she tried to get into the living room. Rex squinted his eyes in concentration, before his eyes opened wide in recognition.

Rex rounded the corner to see Ruby sitting at the coffee table, eating the cookies and drinking the milk. Ruby stared at Rex and April as she slowly brought another cookie to her mouth.

"Ruby!" Rex said as he floated over to the little cookie monster. "Those are for Santa!"

"But he didn't eat them." Ruby said as she pointed to the tree, as many presents stacked up around it. Rex narrowed his eyes at a considerably large present shaped like a person.

"I don't think he got the chance to eat them Ruby, because you ate them." Rex said as he floated over to the large present. "What do you think is in this large, person shaped, wrapped up in a thin layer with no tape, present?"

Rex reached out to rip off the paper, when he heard a thud from upstairs. Rex sighed, he knew he should've stacked his books better. "Ruby, go to bed, April, get a glass of water, I am going to go and fix Santa a new plate of cookies and a glass of milk." Rex said as he stared at the large present, that looked like it was breathing. When the girls left the room, and Rex felt that they had gone back to bed he looked at the present. "I know you are going to vanish as soon as I leave, so don't bother and just come out." The present stopped breathing as Rex sighed. "Well, I fixed you a new plate of cookies and a glass of milk. Also is seems that Klione found your sled on the roof. I would make sure she is out of it before you take off. Don't need a IRL Christmas Chronicles here." Rex said as he floated out of the room, before he stopped. "Oh no." Rex said as He stared out into the yard facing the woods. "Santa, leave now. Before you get caught in a fire fight."

Rex burst out of the room and into his parent's room, Startling Skyla. Avery was still out cold.

"Rex?" Skyla asked as she looked at her panicked son. "What's going on?"

"We have intruders in the woods." Rex said as he looked out the window.

"They are probably just lost drunks." Skyla said as she laid back down.

"20 lost drunks carrying military gear? Right." Rex said as he started to shake his father.

"I think you are mis sensing them." Skyla muttered as she rolled over. "If you're so worked up about it, go check it out yourself."

"Fine, I will." Rex huffed as she flew out the window, only to notice that Santa's sleigh was still there. "Huh. Interesting."

Rex flew over to the group of people located in the woods, taking note of how darkly that were dressed. He floated down, as startled the group. "Good morning ladies and gentlemen. What might you be doing here?"

The groups just stared at Rex, before one laughed. "Man, the contract said we'd be facing people with abilities beyond that of normal humans, But not a damn ESPR." He seemed to be the leader of the bunch. "But even you can't stop us."

"Try me."

In the house

The present sighed as the wrapping flew back into a pocket on the person's back. "*Sigh* I forgot ESPR's can sense people." The person popped their back as they walked over to the cookies. "*Nom* Huh, not bad. Wonder what the kid meant by fire fight? I don't sense anyone else. But the kid is right, that whole Christmas Chronical this was fun, but I don't need that right now. I'm behind schedule."

The person disolved into coal dust as floated back up the chimney, Got the now sleeping cat-girl out of the sleigh, put her back in her bed, then flew off into the night. "Ho, Ho, Ho. Wait, where is Rudolph?"

Forest

Rex sighed as he impaled the last assassin on a tree. "You know, I hate the scent of blood. But you dared come here to harm my family. I hate that more." Rex floated over to the leader, who had his own knife stuck in his heart. "Now, I better get to sleep if I want to be able to stay awake tomorrow."

"I wonder who hired them?"
