I drank a sip of my hot chocolate as I was sitting on the sofa. Ty was beside me, sitting as well as he was drinking his hot chocolate and watching an Italian show.
Tomorrow the school was going to be starting. I didn't need to go to school anymore, however, I did needed to check on some files based on criminal records of Marc.
I looked at Ty and noticed him so focused on the show. I didn't understand anything in the show but he seamed to be so drawn to it.
I sighed.
Sometimes, it did felt lonely to feel the difference between us. I just couldn't enjoy the same thing like Ty in everything.
However, the show just reminded me of something. The talk between Marc and Ty. It was in Italian as well.
I needed to know how Ty got involved with Marc.
I looked at Ty and held his sleeve and tugged it a bit, "Ty?"
Ty didn't look at me. His eyes were focused in the TV but he used his arms to wrap it around my waist and pulled me closer. "I am listening, Jess."
"Ty, um . . ." I sighed as I leaned in his arm. I didn't wanted to ask him about this in a suspicious way which would make him think that I was suspecting him.
I watched Ty taking the remote and turning off the TV. He looked at me and smiled. "What's wrong?" He asked.
I pulled away from Ty and looked at him. "Would it be okay if you tell me about you and Marc?" I asked slowly, looking down my hand where I was holding a cup of hot chocolate.
"Hm . . ." he ran his fingers in his hair and sighed. "It's not like I mind talking about it," he said, leaning on the end of the sofa. "It is just that I hate remembering all the things that I regret doing for Marc."
I looked at Ty. "You can tell me, Ty. I won't judge you," I said softly as Ty looked at me. "We all have pasts. But what matter is our present and future. We shouldn't let our past affecting our future."
Ty sighed and nodded. He took a sip of his hot chocolate and placed it back on the table. "It was my first day in high school," he began.
I folded my leg and sat comfortably at the other end of the sofa.
"I meet Marc in my computer class," he began. "Actually, inwas very different in high school. Unlike right now, I was very a shy student-"
"Really?" I asked as he pouted.
"It was in the past," he sighed as I nodded. "So, yeah. Marc was the cool kid in school. Always confident, cool and popular. So anyway, I dont know when but we got a project together in computer class and we hang out after that. As time went by, we began to become friends."
I nodded.
"So, often time, Marc would hand me some packaged box to give it to certain students in the school and I used to do it. And since we were very close friends, I never asked him about it. I even . . . Told him about you as well, Jess."
I looked at Ty and noticed how sad he looked.
"Marc knew that I love you so much and then as we went to grade 11, I got invited in one of Marc's home party where usually all the students who March made me deliver packages were there. I did went to the party, but then, I saw something that I shouldn't have seen. I saw drugs there. People were exchanging drugs at Marc's party. I wanted to report this to police and when I tried to do that, I was made unconscious and got kidnapped by some men."
Ty was kidnapped?
I was shocked.
"When I became conscious, I was locked in a room, chained. Turned out that the people who chained me was the people who worked for the drug dealers. Those people took me to their boss's who I was surprised to see as Marc," Ty said. "I couldn't believe the guy who I was friend with would actually be a leader of a gang. I wa shocked. However, I was even more shocked when I found out that those packages which I was delivering was actually drugs and furthermore, Marc wanted me to be killed. Marc didn't wanted to leave an evidence about his drugs and the evidence was me."
I was shocked. "Then . . . ?"
"And then, I was taken in the woods, chained and was shot on my belly," Ty said looking down to his hands.
"What?!" I yelled in panic. I couldn't believe this happened.
Ty gave me a sad smile. "I was shot."
I bit my lips and looked at Ty.
"However, Marc's people left me in the wood, bleeding like that and ran away. Marc thought that he had killed me but there was a poor woodcutter who found me in the wood and called ambulance. When I was taken to the ambulance and were treated, my dad had called the police about it. However, because I was a part of Marc's business in delivering his drugs, I couldn't tell the police the truth so that I won't go to prison. All I was thinking that I didn't wanted to go to the prison for something that I didn't know and still did it," he paused. "But, that's where the problem was."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Marc came to meet me in the hospital that day. Some how, Marc found out that I was alive so he came to talk to me. My room was surrounded by police officers who were outside the room to guard me so Marc didn't brought any weapon to talk to me but what he said was enough to shut my mouth shut his drug dealing business," Ty said. "Marc showed me a picture of my family. He said that if I wanted to tell the police about him then he was going to tell the police that I was with him, supplying drugs to the teenagers. I would be prisoned and he would destroy my family."
I looked at Ty. Ty didn't look at me but his voice was low.
I felt like I was feeling Ty's pain. The way he was looking down his hand and talking. It wa breaking my heart. All these years, Ty had to carry the burden in his heart and he couldn't share with anybody.
"At that time, I was angry. I wanted to tell the police about him. I wanted to bring his case to the court but he threated me about my family and I . . . I couldn't watch my family getting hurt because of something that was my fault -"
I didn't let him finish. I went closet to Ty and pulled him in a hug.
Ty didn't hug me back though. Ty was blaming himself for letting a criminal run away.
"Becauee of me . . ." Ty sniffed. "Marc got away with his crimes just because if me."
"Stop," I said as I hugged him more. "Stop blaming yourself, Ty," I pulled away from the hug and cup his cheeks to look at him.
Ty's eyes were watery and I could see guilt all over his face.
"This is not your fault, Ty," I whispered. "You didn't know what was going on. You just got involved in his drug dealings without knowing."
A tears ran down of Ty's eyes. "Do you not hate me, Jess? I was working for Marc-"
"I don't hate you," I said looking at him. "I can never hate you, Ty. You mean so much to me," I said, letting my tears run down my cheeks. It was breaking my heart ot see Ty this weak and broken.
I felt Ty wrapping his arms around my waist and hugging me tight. "All this time . . . For 11 years, I blamed myself for this . . . I carried the burden in my heart . . ." I felt his arms holding my body tighter.
I shed tears on his chest. I didn't like seeing Ty like this. I pulled away from the hug and looked at Ty.
"Jess . . ."
"Ty," I said as I looked at him with watery eyes. "Please don't blame yourself. I might not be able to remove all the scares from your heart but please let me protect the heart of the person I love."
Ty pressed his forehead onto mine and sighed. "Marc . . . We need to trap him somehow," Ty whispered. "We are not the first victim of his cruel game. Many people like us are getting hurt because of Marc."
I nodded. "We will," I said as I whipped my tears and looked at Ty. "We will get that guy in justice."
Ty nodded. "And this time, I am not leaving your side," he said. "Marc husted me first, then my mom and then he hurted you. I tried to be stay calm but I have reached my limit. Marc used my loved ones to get me shut up about his crimes but he probably forgot that I know about him as well. Even his weakness."
My eyes wided. "Marc's weakness?"
Ty nodded. "We will use that to turn the table around. We will pay him for what he deserves becaue I have a plan."
I smirk and leaned my ear to listened to Ty's plan. I nodded once I heard his plan and smiled.
"So, Agent Jade, are you ready to set the plan in action?" Ty asked putting his hand in front of me.
I smirk and held Ty's hand. "You bet!"
