"Wow..." Marinette said in awe, blinking as she looked at the large building in front of her. One of the most magnificent hotel's in New York. Chat felt uncomfortable to make any remark as he felt he just wasn't in the right condition seeming he was no longer Adrien in her head, in her head...
Adrien Agreste had just left for a different mission, a new guy comes and suddenly takes her on a plane ride to New York and is spending the night with her in a hotel. At least they were roommates before so it wasn't that weird, and... they had gotten to know each other for a week. This however, was a totally different situation.
"Here we are." Chat said setting the bags down as they entered the hotel room. Marinette looked at him shyly, as if she was uncomfortable. He quickly scolded himself, for he had said one sentence and she was already uncomfortable? Not to mention his awkward first impression that was so sudden and discouraging.
He inwardly groaned, "Well, you can take the bedroom. I'll sleep on the couch." Marinette nodded, taking her things to the room with her, once he heard the door close, he sighed and plopped onto the couch. She probably thought he was a fool! He didn't really blame her either. He was wearing a cat costume for crying out loud.
And it wasn't even close to Halloween!!!
He pinched the bridge of his nose, ashamed of himself. This, was going to be the worst and most embarrassing mission he could ever except, but overall he was still glad he had accepted it. Marinette was with him and that was what mattered most. Her safety.
***
It had been about a week, he had no idea how he had survived for this long. Marinette's sudden distance towards him, always trying to avoid any type of conversation between them. He almost sighed, but he couldn't. Right now the pair was walking along the busy sidewalks of New York City, Chat had suggested the two went out for a walk.
Marinette shyly looked up at Chat. Why was she being so rude to him? It wasn't his fault Adrien was assigned a different mission. She closed her eyes, as the thought of him made them water... Adrien... The same thought that had occurred at least a hundred times appeared in her mind once again.
Will I ever see him again?
She bit her lip, trying not to make any noises and attract Chat's attention. She bit her lip painfully as she squeezed her eyes shut, clenching her hands. For a moment, Chat looked back at her, his lips parting as a single tear drop landed on the concrete.
He narrowed his eyebrows, "Looks like it's raining." He joked, several more tears sliding down her cheeks as she looked up at him. The sight of her crying for him made his stomach turn with guilt, as he lifted her chin up, her eyes a deep sea of Crystal Blue.
"Looks like it's only raining on you then huh?" He teased, making her smile a bit. That was the first time she had ever smiled at him as Cat Noir. His lips parted as he remembered how beautiful she was when she smiled. His eyebrows narrowed in pure affection as his lips curved into a weak smile.
"Hmm..." he looked around, smirking as he saw a store two buildings away. He grabbed Marinette's hand, pulling her into the store as he grabbed an umbrella, heading towards the cashier.
***
"You didn't have to do that ya know?" Marinette said, as they walked under the umbrella that Chat held, and had just recently bought. He chuckled making Marinette's heart flutter. There was something so familiar about him but before she could even think about it he had distracted her with his gorgeous smile that was so unfairly attractive.
"Hey, my goal was to make you feel better. Make you laugh... Seems like my plan worked. Even though people are staring at us like we're weird for walking under an umbrella even though it's sunny." Marinette giggled, noticing the people who looked at them like they were total weirdos.
"Marinette..." she looked up at Chat, her Crystal Blue Bell eyes meeting his. He paused, looking down at her seeming he was at least a head taller then her. "I know I've only known you for like a week... But I want you to know that I would do anything for you. I'm so comfortable around you, you make me laugh... As much as I want to keep our relationship professional..."
"I can't."
Marinette looked at him uncertainly, watching as his lips curved into a smile. "I want to be friends..." he shrugged, showing off his perfectly toned shoulders that were defined by his tight black, not to mention bulletproof... suit. She smiled looking down, her eyes wandering to his hand as she took it looking back up at him. "I want to be friends too."
Chat, grinned as he placed his head on top of hers, with his eyes closed and a happy grin, "Yes!" he whisper-yelled making sure Marinette could hear it which made her giggle. The sweet and genuine giggle he had been longing to hear for what seemed like forever.
They swung their arms as they held each other's hand. It was as if it was only natural. And it was comfortable for them, even if they were holding hands like a couple, it was just sealing the sincerity of the moment.
***
Chat gently tapped on Marinette's door, hearing a soft, "Come in." He smiled and walked in, seeing her reading a book. "Whatcha readin' ?" he asked. Marinette offered him a weak smile, showing him the title of the book. The Sun Is Also A Star
His lips parted, that was the book he would read to her every night as Adrien, and by the looks of it, she was almost finished. "I know I'm the one with the mission here, but would you mind reading it to me?" he asked softly.
Marinette nodded and patted the spot on the bed next to her, he smiled and sat down, making himself comfortable. Marinette slightly giggled. After reading a few chapters, he closed his eyes and enjoyed the sweet sincere sound of her voice.
It wasn't long before the darkness enclosed the light around him and he fell sound asleep. Marinette smiled as she watched her protector fall asleep. Why did he seem so familiar? She shrugged off the thought. And... why was he so gorgeous?
His lips were parted, his soft silky golden hair making itself comfortable as it spread across the pillow. The lighting perfect for his tan skin as his eyebrows narrowed. He was so similar to Adrien, wasn't he? Marinette shook it off, that was impossible now wasn't it?
***
The next morning Adrien woke up, the sun shining bright through the window, lavender scented shampoo filling his nose, warm and soft skin brushing against his, legs entangled around his, and his fingers intertwined with- wait what?
He opened his eyes, his pupils dilating as he looked at the girl that he was holding or... Spooning. It was the one and only, Marinette Dupain-Cheng. He gulped. The most perfect sight right in front of his very eyes!
Her bed head framed her face so perfectly and contrasted the color of her soft porcelain skin. Her lips looked too pretty at this moment, so soft and puffy... So smooth and perfect, so kissable. His cheeks bloomed with ruby red rose bushes.
He yelped, falling off the bed. Marinette gasped, being awoken from her slumber. She peeked from over the bed, staring at him as he lay flat on the ground. He blushed in embarrassment, making Marinette giggle.
"Rise and shine Princess." He said, placing his arm under his head as he furrowed his brow, a grin spreading across his lips. Marinette laughed at his silly behavior, falling back to the bed. Adrien's cheeks became a crimson red, a tender smile forming on his lips.
He got up from off the floor, his lips parting at the sight of the blue-eyed girl's beauty. Her bed hair looked so soft and silky, the sun contrasting her pale skin that complimented her Crystal Blue eyes and midnight locks of hair.
Her baggy pink sweat shirt outlining the curves of her hips and shoulders as she brushed her thumb across her pink bottom lip. "Did you fall?" she asked softly, Adrien nodded lightly, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, his cheeks stained a crimson red.
Marinette giggled once again, getting off the bed and yawning with a stretch to follow. "I'm gonna take a nice shower." She said, starting to walk to the bathroom, "W-wait!" Marinette looked back, "Yeah?"
I love you...
He looked to the side. "N-nevermind actually..." She smiled a little, walking into the bathroom and turning on the shower. She felt the warm water, beginning to take off her clothes.
Adrien sighed while frowning in determination, opening the bathroom door and walking inside. He was going to March right on there, and tell her exactly what he felt!
Or... So he thought.
He immediately regret his decision, the sight in front of him was marvelous. Finding Marinette in her black lacy undergarments as she nearly unclipped her bra. He felt his breath hitch in his throat, eyes widened, and pupils dilated.
"I'M SO SORRY! I DIDN'T MEAN TO I-" Marinette screeched, trying to hide behind the shower curtain but accidentally took off the whole curtain entirely. The pole that held it knocking her over, as she fell onto Cat Noir before he could open the door.
Her cheeks were just as red as his, "D-don't look!" She exclaimed, her cheeks a ruby red as she covered his eyes. He couldn't get that image of her out of his mind... Adrien knew Marinette was beautiful... But WOW. Marinette was BEAUTIFUL.
So she lay on top of him, chest to chest, as she covered his eyes with her hands. She couldn't trust herself to speak, no one had ever seen her like this. Sure people had seen her in her swimsuit, which had just the same amount of clothing, even Adrien!
But this wasn't her swimsuit... And her mind refused to allow herself to think that it was. "O-okay... I'm gonna get off of you, but you have to close your eyes, I'll guide you out the door." Adrien nodded, "Okay." She took in a deep breath, standing up.
She opened the door, helping Chat up as she guided him out. She immediately shut the door after, "Y-you can look now!" She shouted to him from outside the door. Chat opened his eyes, his cheeks red in embarrassment as he was stunned.
What a disaster.
---
Silence.
Awkward silence.
"So... About that incident in the bathroom.." Marinette said awkwardly, noting her lip. Chat Noir cringed, his cheeks a ruby red. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to-- please don't think that I'm some sort of pervert or something!"
She giggled a little, "Don't worry. I know your not like that. I could tell your a good person." She smiled, exposing her purely white teeth as he felt his heart race. "What were you going to do in there anyway?" She asked and furrowed a brow.
He laughed awkwardly, looking to the side. "U-umm-- I was going to-- uhhh- ask you something?" He said as if it was believable, Marinette furrowed a brow suspiciously. She knew he wasn't trying anything dirty, but she also knew that what he said was a huge lie.
He sucked at lying.
She giggled at the thought, "Okay then." She shrugged, staring into his eyes. Her lips parted as she saw a flicker of familiarity in those green eyes, it reminded her of... Adrien. Her eyes suddenly watered. Why was she about to cry?
She had gotten over him... Right?
Wrong.
Suddenly, she worried that she would never get over him, the pain she felt when he left. The other half of her heart that he held. He had took it with him. And she feared it would never return, would it always be this way? Would she never get over him?
"Marinette... Why are you crying?" Her lips parted and she looked up at him, being pulled back into reality. "O-oh! S-sorry I just..." He narrowed his eyebrows, "Don't apologize. Tell me what's wrong."
She sighed, "I-i just... Your eyes are very familiar, they remind me of someone very special to me." She shrugged and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, looking down at her hands. He knew what she meant, she was still thinking of him.
Of Adrien.
He didn't know how comfortable she felt with him. Was he figuring that she needed someone. So he wiped the tears from her cheeks, titling her chin to face him. She looked at him, her Crystal Blue eyes beaming.
"Marinette..." He wanted to tell her, he wanted to tell her everything. But he couldn't allow himself to do that, he needed her safe. He smiled softly at her, narrowing his eyebrows and just staring into her eyes, he felt like he was lost at sea.
They slowly got closer and closer, and he had completely forgotten that he didn't look like Adrien Agreste, and was Chat Noir. They had kissed before, why would this one matter? Maybe because he was a completely different person to her.
She slightly gasped as his lips brushed against hers, looking at him through half lidded eyes. What was she thinking? She didn't know this guy well at all, she didn't even know his real name. But she felt as if this has happened before, like she had known these lips all too well.
His lips pressed against hers comfortably. "Mmm~" she closed her eyes and melted into the kiss, cupping his cheek as her body slanted against his. Her fingers running up his shoulders as she gripped onto his golden locks of hair.
He grabbed her by the thighs and lifted her up with ease, setting her back against the bed as they continued to kiss. His fingers tracing circles onto her soft skin as she whimpered soft moans.
He felt her tongue run across his bottom lip and he slid his tongue against hers, a blissful shiver running down his spine. Her fingers roamed around in his hair, running across his cat ears and she realized who she was kissing. This wasn't Adrien.
He felt her hands scrape against his pinned cat ears and his eyes widened, he wasn't Adrien. Well... Right now at least. His lips popped off of hers, and even though it felt wrong, as if she was betraying Adrien, it felt so right... They stared at each other with wide eyes.
It was at the moment, Chat knew... He fucked up.
His body hovered over hers, taking in deep breaths as he stared into her eyes, searching for any sign of fear. She pressed her legs together, her toes curling. Her hands still entangled into the soft locks of his hair.
"Chat..." She whispered, getting dangerously close. "W-we shouldn't do this..." He softly brushed his lips against hers, "I-i know..." He murmured, closing his eyes and sighing. He stood up, getting off of her, she sort of missed his warmth.
"I-i should go." He said, looking at anything besides her eyes. She sat up, crossing her arms and cringing at the clear awkwardness that hung in the air like a blanket draped over their heads. "See ya tomorrow." He said, walking out of the bedroom.
She looked at the closed door, wondering what would've happened if they took it any further. She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, rubbing her temples.
---
The rest of the week was a little awkward, they never talked about what had happened. It was as if it never actually did happen and the whole thing was just a dream. They didn't talk as much anymore either...
She felt like she had ruined the whole thing, she couldn't just fall in love with every guy who ended up protecting her. Hopefully, this would be her last one. Which, technically, she only has one protector... But she didn't know that.
She had gotten a bit suspicious over him, like, why he couldn't tell her his real name or... Why he was dressed as a cat. Only God knows why. He had too many similarities to Adrien, she knew it couldn't be him, and she just wanted it to be.
She had a soft spot for him, or else... She never would've kissed him in the first place. But she somehow felt that she was betraying Adrien, even though she would probably never see him again. He still Held Her Heart, wherever he was...
