Chapter 1: Promotion

This story starts with a secret engagement, Emily and Gabriel Agreste. Two secret agents, spies, whatever you'd like to call them. The couple knew how dangerous the job was. They knew how dangerous it was to fall in love and gain something to lose.

But they took the risk, and a child was born. A baby with golden hair, tan skin, and green emerald eyes and lastly... two dead parents. His father and mother dying on a secret mission. Who would raise the poor baby? "What do we do with it!", The girl exclaimed.

"Get rid of it." Her eyes widened, knowing exactly what he meant, "B-but sir--" he sighed, "Fine... Then raise it here. Train him, it's all up to you, Natalie." Her lips parted as she looked at the baby in her hands, she rocked him, a small smile forming at the sight of the baby. "He'll be our best agent sir."

Natalie was incapable of having children, raising one as her own was a totally different story. She fed him, cleaned him, gave him as much attention as she could. She loved him as a mother would love her own. After all, this was the last piece she had of her best friend, Emily. Her dead best friend.

She watched him as he grew older, already mastering several different languages at the age of ten. His combat skills were amazing, not only that but the boy was tricky and intelligent. He was the only child in the entire agency, and had accomplished being the best agent in the secret society at only 16.

But this was what he was destined to do, he would die for a mission if he had to. He had devoted himself to the project, Natalie telling him everything she knew about his parents, well, at least he thought. Natalie had to remain professional, she couldn't tell him everything.

So, now your all caught up. Let's start the story... Shall we?

Adrien

"Happy birthday Adrien." Natalie smiled as she set a cake in front of me with eighteen candles placed on top. I looked at he cake in awe, I was only allowed to have pastries on my birthday, I didn't celebrate any other holiday. I smiled at Natalie, "Make a wish Adrien."

I looked back at the candles, I wish... What did I wish for? I wish... To taste something sweet. I quickly blew out the candles before I could change my mind, Natalie smiled. "What did you wish for?" I looked to the side, "Something dumb." Natalie chuckled and placed a slice of cake on my plate.

I quickly grabbed my fork and took a bite out of the cake, I groaned. It was delicious, and to think I only got to eat like this once a year! Natalie smiled at me, "What?" She sighed, "You've really grown huh? It seems like yesterday you were learning how to shoot a gun."

I chuckled at the funny sentence, I had never met anyone my age. I still had tons to experience, and I probably never would. "A-adrien..." Natalie looked to the side, she seemed serious so I focused my attention towards her. "Mr. O'Neal decided to give you a promotion." My eyes widened, "Y-you mean-" she nodded.

This would be my 50th mission, and I would have accomplished being at the level my mother and father were. Natalie was proud, but scared for me. The higher I got the more dangerous the missions were. To her, I wasn't just someone she raised to be the best in the agency. It was as if I was her own son.

And as if she was my own mother, seeming I had never met my birth mom. After finishing my slice I headed to bed, tomorrow was a big day, I can't believe I was getting promoted. Level 50, This was what I had been waiting for my whole life. What I had been training for.

"Mr. Agreste?" I stood up straight, "Mr. O'Neal will see you now." I nodded, a bit excited as I walked into the room, trying to contain a stern face as Natalie looked around before giving me a thumbs up. I have her a small smile before walking in the room.

The man behind the glass desk had gray hair that was pulled back with gel. He had cold gray eyes, and pale skin. I stood with my hands behind my back, maintaining a stern face. Mr. O'Neal looked at me, "You've accomplished every single one of your missions Adrien. And at such a young age, you've already been awarded with being the best agent in this secret society."

I gulped, not knowing what to expect next. "I have a mission for you. It's dangerous." I nodded, he took in a deep breath before looking at me. I almost choked on my spit as he looked at me through his cold eyes, "I have great expectations for you Mr. Agreste. Your father would be proud."

I eased out my shoulders and nodded. "There's a girl, her name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She's in danger. She just recently graduated high school, you will attend her college. I know this is new to you since you've never met anyone your age. But you need to make friends and stay hidden."

"Your flight is tomorrow, we made arrangements for you as her roommate and your in all her classes. You need to be close with her, it'll take a while but be patient. You need to find out as much as you can about this girl. Here is her file," he handed me the file. "Don't let me down, Adrien."

"I will do my best sir." I said and walked out of the room. I would save reading her file for the plane ride, I would need something to do besides listening to music and reading. "Don't let me down, Adrien." I won't, that's a promise, to myself and to my parents.
