wish.
I took a deep breath that hitched as it released. My father was frozen at my mum's weird activity, even he was surprised at her behaviour.
As she straightened her back and reclaimed her position, I grabbed her wrist harshly. My glare softened while I realised this wasn't her talking. I sighed before running my index finger down from the tips of her fingers to her wrist. "You're getting drowsy, your eyes are feeling heavier by the second. When I count down from five, when you hear the snapping of my fingers, you'll fall asleep and when you wake up you'll return to your normal state of mind."
I spoke in a soft voice, watching her eyes flutter before shutting. "5, 4, 3, 2, 1." I clicked my fingers as she immediately collapsed, my father catching her before she fell. Without a word I turned around and headed back to the car.
I was taught a variety of things in the CIS, including psychology tricks and easy hypnosis. When I made it back to the car Taehyung was already looking my way, analysing my expression to see if things went well or not. "Long story short, we underestimated how much Shadow knew about me," I told him, sitting myself inside. "How could they know about Jaechan...?" I muttered, frustrated because I couldn't think of an explanation for it.
"Speaking of Shadow, that 'wish' guy Vin told us about, I think he has some relation to you," Taehyung began making me look over to him questionably. "How so?" I tilted my head while watching him take out a picture.
"He has a tattoo of a star on his wrist," he said, passing me the photograph. It was of Vin and a man in a mask sitting down for coffee, just like Vin said they had. "So what, you think I have the key to figuring out what lies under that mask?" I raised an eyebrow.
"It's a little far fetched I admit, but with Shadow being so obsessed with you and him being our only lead-"
"Actually, I have the location of one of their bases," I cut him off. "Me and... Jungkook are going there tomorrow," I slightly avoided eye contact because it was weird. It was embarrassing. How could I work with the same person who not only treated me like shit but held me hostage like an animal?
"Jungkook?" Taehyung's eyebrows naturally went up, his surprise showing on his face. "Do you want me to come?" He asked, "no," I chuckled, resting back on the seat.
"I can handle myself."
"Oh I know. I'm just asking to come incase that brother of mine aggravates you to the extent that you kill him. He's on the wrong side but c'mon, I don't want him dead," Tae laughed along with me. "Thank you, I know you only wish for my safety but, stay out of this one Tae," I smiled at him as we drove off. "I have a different job for you," I spoke, "and that is?"
"I need you to visit every tattoo shop in Korea."
next day
"Hey babygirl,"
"Call me babygirl again and I'll physically rip out your tongue," I glared at Jungkook as I watched him sit inside the car. "Why didn't you let me pick you up? My cars way better," he asked making me roll my eyes.
"First of all we aren't going to a party, we're going to kill members of the biggest mafia group in the world. I'd prefer not going in your loud ass vibrant ass car," I spat, driving off.
"What's the second of all?"
"You don't have a fucking licence."
"I JUST CAN'T PASS THE THEORY I CAN DRIVE COMPLETELY WELL,"
"REALLY? IS THAT WHY YOU'VE CRASHED 9 CARS IN THE TIME SPAN OF 2 MONTHS?" I screamed back, stepping on the accelerator more angrily. "WELL WHEN YOU HAVE TO HIDE FROM YOUR GIRLFRIEND BECAUSE SHE'S AN AGENT AND YOU DON'T WANT HER TO CATCH YOU BEING A MAFIA, YOU HAVE TO DRIVE CRAZILY FAST!" He yelled.
"OH IS IT, AM I MEANT TO APOLOGISE?" I scoffed in disbelief that we had just met and we were already arguing.
"NO NO, you don't need to apologise, just get your facts right, I didn't crash 9 cars, I crashed 13," he cleared his throat. "Fuck the facts, aren't you appalled at the fact that your bank account is dying because of the cars you buy?" I asked as he went silent, "what?" I said.
"Remember when I needed to pay for those cars, and the debt had piled up because I forgot to pay it for 2 months?" He spoke, looking down at his lap, "yeah," I replied confusedly. "And then remember how I said I couldn't find my credit card, and then the next day I said I had paid all of it?" He continued, "yes what about it?"
"Who's credit card do you think I used?"
*screech*
I pressed on the brakes so hard it flew Jungkook forward because surprise surprise he wasn't wearing his seatbelt. "You. Used. MY CREDIT CARD?" I gritted my teeth, "w-why did you stop driving? C'mon, thinking of their schedule we should be there soon," he stuttered, Mr Euphoria scared of a weaponless Byeol. Amusing.
"Open the car door," I calmly spoke while gripping the steering wheel. He hesitantly opened it, waiting for me to continue but I just pushed my seat back, stretching my leg. "I've got this, horrible cramp in my knee I think I need to..."
I lifted it up and stretched it to the left so hard I kicked Jungkook out his seat and onto the concrete outside.
"Stretch it."
I smiled, watching him groan while grabbing his face, "it was only a million dollars! You're acting like you don't have billions in your account," he complained. I mean it's true, I was extremely rich. All the missions I would get paid for by the government plus the dirty money I made while being a con artist was all piled up since I never had any time to spend it.
"Well when you have a background like mine you learn to cherish money," I replied as he sat back into the car. I started to drive before he even settled in properly so he almost fell out again. He struggled to close the car door while I followed the GPS to the location.
I parked a good distance away, at a place we could easily run to for an exit. We both were known for the way we excelled in aim, and never missing. So we climbed into high trees surrounding the warehouse type building, camouflaging into the nature. I pulled out my bow and arrow since I didn't want to waste the bullets in the silencer on the handful of guards outside.
I shut my left eye to aim better, letting go of the arrow as I watched it perfectly dig into the man's main artery, dropping him dead. I got impatient, sticking three arrows on my bow, pointing at a couple idiots standing fairly close to each other. As they laughed, muttering their last words, my arrow took away their lives.
An arrow wouldn't necessarily guarantee someone's death, so all my arrows were smeared with a special type of toxin. It spreads to the heart within seconds, making sure to kill you.
While I took care of one half of the outside guards, Jungkook took care of the other. We'd monitored the area earlier, wiping out the CCTV from streets away. I jumped down from the tree so swiftly I didn't make a sound, even when landing from such a height.
"All clear?" I touched my in-ear monitor to communicate with Jungkook. "Yeah," I was startled when I heard the voice behind me, it made me release a slight gasp.
"You can't creep up on someone like that," I told him.
"Why, is being a sly bitch something only you're allowed to do?" He chuckled quietly, making me scrunch my nose in annoyance. "Yeah, it's my thing. What about you? Is acting like a dick your job? How much do you get paid for it? I mean you must get paid a shit ton right, full time hours," I smiled at my comment.
"I don't get paid, I do it for my own pleasure," he replied making me laugh and cross my arms.
"I assure you of one thing Mr Euphoria,"
"Acting like a dick won't make yours any bigger."
He simply scoffed before smirking, "I don't need a bigger dick, wouldn't wanna bruise your insides. Plus this size already has you screaming, I think it does the job, just fine." He spoke before walking off, knowing I'd have nothing to say back. What do you even say back to that?
"Jungkook," I grabbed his wrist before entering the warehouse, instead of speaking he just turned his head and raised his eyebrows, waiting for me to continue. "If you get yourself into trouble in there, don't expect me to save you. I'll get the locations of the other bases and leave, with or without you," I informed him.
"Oh don't worry, I'm not going to die for you either," he chuckled quietly, "great," I said as I lifted my hood.
"Then we don't have a problem."
3rd person pov.
There was a problem. A huge one.
Both of them were lying.
They'd die for each other in a heartbeat, they'd attempt to move mountains if it meant saving one another. They looked each other in the eye one last time before entering a place they could possibly lose their lives in. Byeol kept forgetting Jungkook had almost no reason to be there, to help her. Yes he was the reason the trigger words got out and it put Byeol in grave danger, but they weren't together anymore.
So what did he care?
He would swear to himself every night before falling asleep that he hated her. Yet he was walking into the jaws of death for her. As they stepped into the warehouse like snakes, prayers repeated inside their heads. They both wished they'd make it out alive, together.
She loved him.
And he loved her.
But it wasn't that simple.
