what lies beneath.
The driver helped me get Jungkook onto one of the hospital beds before the doctors rolled him in. I breathed out tiredly, about to rub my eyes when I remembered I had makeup on. I noticed the driver analysing the damage on your car while biting his nails at it's state. "I'm sorry," I apologised.
"Sorry? YOU'RE JUST SORRY? I work 4 jobs, I worked so hard to get this car," he looked like he was about to lose his mind. "Give me your number," I told him. "Oh- wow uhm, I'm sorry but you're not my type. Also I have a girlfriend," he took a step back.
"And I have standards."
"I trashed your car, if you don't want a replacement then fine. I'm not fond of being a nice person, if you'd rather stick to this shit show of a car then be my guest." I rolled my eyes, about to turn away from him when he grabbed my wrist, accidently pressing on the bruise Vin gave me, the bruise I had covered with a scarf. "No no! Please, here's my number."
The electric shock ran through me again, but this time I didn't let this stranger have so much control over me. I yanked it away, "fun fact, being touched is second on the list of things I hate most in the world. Don't touch me, ever." I glared, "what's first on the list then?" He said, annoying me to the max. I just snatched his phone off of him, trying to get this conversation over with.
"My name's Jay," he told me, as I ignored his words and saved him as 'Sherlock,' for his ability to state the fucking obvious every couple minutes. "Foreigner?" I tilted my head, his accent was quite different too so I assumed he was from somewhere else. "Uhm, yeah, I guess you could say that. But what about you? What's your name?" He asked.
"I'm just a person who broke your car, I'm going to delete your number as soon as I replace what I broke. No need to be mutuals." I spoke, "this car will suffice for a ride home," I said, as he took his phone back and sat into the car. "And by the way," I said, making him roll down the windows of his car as I leaned down.
"I'm everyone's type."
I turned around, walking into the hospital where I sat outside the ER. I didn't have to do any paperwork or admit Jungkook in because they knew who I was, it was one of the benefits of people knowing I was Agent 001.
The doctor came out quite soon, I knew Jungkook's condition wasn't bad. I could tell just by looking at his wound when I tried to stop the bleeding so I wasn't worried, not like I would've been if he was injured seriously. "He'll need to take out the stitches in a few days but there's no need to worry agent, he's fine," the doctor told me.
I went inside the room, sitting beside the bed where Jungkook had gained consciousness. "The sniper was an amateur, he didn't hit an internal organ, the bullet practically just grazed you," I told him, helping him sit up.
"Yeah I'm ok thanks for asking," he replied, "well I don't care if you're ok or not. Me bringing you to the hospital was an act of human decency. Also because now you're vulnerable enough to put you under arrest," I spoke. "Really? So it wasn't because you care for me?" He tilted his head.
"I don't give a flying fuck about you, don't be delusional," I replied when the knot on the scarf around my wrist became undone. "Who did that to you."
Jungkook's eyes suddenly darkened staring at the bruise. It wasn't even a question more of a command. "None of your business," I responded. "You are my business, now hurry up and tell me before I find out myself," Jungkook said.
"It was Vin, why? What are you going to do? What can you do behind bars?" I tilted my head, "you're not going to arrest me," he spoke confidently. "That confidence is going to embarrass you so hard one day," I chuckled, pulling out my phone to call one of the agents to bring a van over. "Think smartly Byeol. Injury won't stop me from killing every doctor in this hospital, along with the patients." He spoke like a psychopath, face looking like he was picturing it.
"You think I won't be able to stop you? You underestimate me Euphoria, you haven't seen me do what I do. You haven't seen me murder in cold blood. You haven't seen what I'm capable of when I'm not in love," I replied.
"Neither have you."
The atmosphere grew heavy, silence thickening the air. Realisation sinking in with a sting. I got up and headed to the toilet, I didn't actually need it I just needed to escape that room. I messaged a few agents to come over, it would be easier for me to just arrest Jungkook instead of killing him. Of course I don't mind either.
That's a lie.
I do mind.
I know myself, I know I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I took his life. That's what I hate. I hate the way I don't hate him, despite all he's done I can't. I can't get myself to fully despise him. I left the toilet to go back into the room, sighing at my stupidity. He was gone. I should've known. I cursed in my head not even surprised, to be fair it was a stupid idea. JK isn't one to get caught so easily. I turned the agents away, having one of them take me home.
next day
Another day, another mental breakdown. So much going on that my head physically hurt. As important as it was to arrest Jungkook and put him behind bars, he wasn't a priority. If I wanted to I could easily put him down right this instant. But with Shadow running around and the existence of the trigger words, I had no time for JK.
I had a meeting with Vin, weird I know. He was the only one with some sort of leads on Shadow and this man called 'wish.' I waited at the park we decided to meet at, but hours passed and he didn't arrive. I grew impatient but I couldn't leave, that's how desperate I was. It was already evening and I sighed in annoyance, I knew he was probably lying somewhere, high as fuck.
I got up, deciding to head towards the cabin in the woods where we had all our stuff on Shadow. But on the way there I started hearing some, noises. I immediately became alert, having my gun at the ready. I stood behind a thick tree, swiftly turning my body to point my gun at a man who had his back faced towards me.
"Hands behind your head, slowly turn around and get on your knees." I commanded, walking closer to the man.
"Funny, it's usually me asking you to do that," a low chuckle released out of the man, helping me identify him. Jungkook. He slowly turned around, hands up sarcastically as I noticed blood on them, with a shovel on the floor. "I know you're curious, ask away," Jungkook said. "Who did you kill? Who did you just bury?" I asked, noticing the soil that looked freshly dug up.
"At least I buried them you know I think that's an improvement for me-"
"WHO?" I cut him off and yelled, his state was petrifying. Murder in his eyes, this was Euphoria, the side I hadn't seen before. Pretty much a psycho. "Vin, why?" He innocently asked.
"In my defence I did tell you I'd kill anyone who touched you," he shrugged, a small smile appearing on his lips. The smile I used to adore, now terrifying me. "You took his life, because of a bruise?" I asked in disbelief. "Yep pretty much, sounds about right," he replied as if he was no big deal.
"You're acting like I haven't killed before, stop being dramatic would you?" He put down his arms as they were getting tired, my hands naturally fell down, my gun lying at my side. "I assume it was a fair fight," I spoke, noticing the bruises on Jungkook's face.
"Now that's just disrespectful. You really think that druggie could lay a finger on me? This was uh, Taehyung," he scratched the back of his head awkwardly. I cleared my throat in curiosity, "you met Tae?" I thought it was about time the boys all left to join Jungkook so I had prepared myself for their absence.
"Yeah and it obviously didn't end well, who the hell gets drunk this early into the evening. He's known you for one year and known me for half his life yet you have him tied around your finger like a dog. What drug have you given him?" He chuckled, "time doesn't define anything, and not everyone needs to drug someone to receive respect from them. Sound familiar?" I replied with spite making him scoff.
"Oh please, even without the drug you were mad for me, wasn't it you who risked becoming a fugitive for me? Wasn't it you who went against everything you were taught for me? Wasn't it you who took a bullet for me?" He kept taking steps closer, "you're just listing things I regret."
"You regret taking that bullet for me?"
His entire expression changed, he swallowed his own spit now losing eye contact. Was he- possibly hurt? The look on his face made me slightly regret my words. "I-"
"Anyways, you might wanna watch out for Vin's father, he'll probably come after you because you were the one Vin was meant to meet. He'll think you were the one that killed his beloved son. I'd stay on edge if I were you," Jungkook cut me off, brushing off the dirt that got on him. "Why did you do it?" I questioned him before he left.
"I don't like people touching what's mine."
"Well I'm not yours, not anymore."
"See my love, that's where you're wrong," he turned around, slowly stepping towards me. "You'll always be mine, you're no longer my lover but you are my enemy. And my enemy alone, only I get to hurt you, to play with you, to torture you. Only I get to kill you," he leaned down to look me in my eyes.
"Therefore you are mine, more mine than you are yours."
