shadow.

I watched his body fill with the guilt of what he did to me, and I loved it. I took my knife back out, pulling out his arm as I used the knife like a pencil to draw on it. I drew a star, adding a smiley face for fun as his blood dripped out, I marked the beginning of the war. "Every time you think I have even a bit of love for you left, look at the scar this leaves to remind yourself that I feel nothing anymore."

He tried to hold in the pain of the cut, he didn't resist, he knew it wasn't a time to do so.

"After Saturday, and after the function is over, that is when I'll come after you, and god you better hide well because I won't show mercy." I glared, walking away from him calmly before I remembered something that made me turn around. "Yah," I got his attention while he was covering up his hand full of blood. "What's your least favourite colour?" I asked out of the blue, "uhm, I don't know, black?" He shrugged at my random question.

"A black dress on Saturday it is then,"

I chuckled, making my way back to the car before I drove home.

Next day

The construction at the CIS building couldn't start so quick, so I had given everyone days off. I moved to a smaller cabin in the woods, it was the cabin the boys used whilst I was 'dead.' It had all the technology we needed, everything crucial for my Shadow problem. The person who had the strongest ties to Shadow was probably the heir, the man I killed last year. Choi Woonyoung. The ex-chairman.

He was half Russian, his father was the leader of Shadow but he died at the hands of his own disloyal men. That's why they wanted to make us puppets, to ensure complete control over us, the guarantee total loyalty. Torturing us to the extent that we'd become their personal marionettes was an act of cowardice. A fear we could use against them.

Shadow went off the radar so long everyone assumed they had retired, they were one of the oldest running mafia groups. Back when I was blind and considered Mr Choi as a mentor, and a higher colleague, he would share certain things with me. Like how he had plans to restart Shadow with me at the centre of it, apparently they still had all the men they used to have, they were just waiting to be called to work. After I killed him I didn't know why I had no one come after me, I waited for trouble but it didn't come.

I thought it was because he never did get to restart Shadow but now it seems like they have returned with their own goal.

I didn't go into detail, but told the rest of the boys about what happened to me. I needed all the help I could get to find out Shadow's intentions and where their base was located.

"So no one except us knows? What if a higher official of the government finds out? Won't they try to assassinate you as a threat? Or worse what if they find the set of words they need to control you?" Namjoon spoke, overloading with worry.

"Maybe they already have, that's why I need your help, help me destroy them before they get to me," I replied, my eyes pleading them.

"What about JK? Why isn't he here if we're going to do something so important?" Jimin asked making me release a breath, "he isn't- we aren't uhm, together anymore."

Silence.

The entire room filled with a suffocating silence as all the boys except Tae froze in their spot. Now there was tension, they all exchanged unreadable expressions knowing what this meant. "Don't say anything, please. You can take his side, I know some of you are probably dying to get out of the CIS. But today, just for today, help me. After that you can go to him if you want I won't stop you, but know I will have to put you down along with him." I said, all of them nodding along.

We began with hacking into all of Mr Choi's accounts and computers, trying to find something just something that would give us a lead.

"This is weird," Yoongi muttered, making all of us go over to his laptop. "I've gotten into his laptop but, past this point is unbreakable. It's not possible because there is no codes to hack into, it's a highly advanced way of hiding a top secret file, not even the best hackers will be able to get in. The way to get in is by writing a fear? It's asking us to write our biggest fears." He tilted his head out of pure confusion.

*Welcome Min Yoongi, born Daegu 1993, member of the Yeoheung Min Clan, a powerful clan during the Joseon dynasty.*

The computer spoke out making all of us take a step back, Yoongi immediately shut the laptop, getting up from his seat. "Yeah that's terrifying, I don't mess with that shit," he spoke, you could almost see the goosebumps on his arm. "Ok I know this is serious and stuff, but YOU'RE PRACTICALLY ROYALTY," Jin exclaimed, extremely surprised. "Not in todays day, back then I would've been, that's besides the point, why does the thing know me?" He replied.

I opened up the laptop again, noticing a red light flash on the camera bit, "because your highness. You've just hit a highly classified place, it activated the camera as a signal to alert danger, to alert the owner that there was an attempt to get into the file. So there's someone watching us right now. So c'mon boys, let's keep our manners and say hi," I spoke sarcastically, staring straight at the little red light before taking a marker to cover it completely.

"This is great, I mean if it's so classified the information in it must be precious. We need it," Hoseok said, sitting Yoongi back down. "I don't know what my biggest fear is," he shrugged.

"Fireworks."

"Cows."

"Hoseok."

The boys immediately came up with fears for him, "I AM NOT SCARED OF HOSEOK," Yoongi defended himself quickly making us laugh. "How can you be scared of cows? MOO MOO MOO," Jin made fun of his younger before receiving a glare from him. "Ju-" I was about to turn around to share the joke with someone I had forgotten wasn't here anymore.

Yoongi hesitantly typed in the word 'fireworks,' before pressing enter.

*accepted*

*Welcome Kim Seokjin, born Gwacheon 1992, blood type O, oldest of BTS*

It spoke again moving on to the next person immediately after acceptance. It seemed like it was going to give a short introduction to all of us, considering there were 7 little boxes for each of us to write in our fears. Each box for the faces the camera picked up before we covered it. All the boys seemed to go through it easily, it wasn't a hard question, just a fear was simple. It seemed too easy for the level of security this certain file had, there had to be something important behind but just writing a fear seemed too easy.

I sat down in front of the laptop, waiting for my little introduction.

*Welcome, Hera,*

Mine was the shortest of them all, nothing else to go with it just the stupid codename they gave me. "I don't really have a fear, maybe losing someone I love but it's only given me a single words slot." I shrugged, looking at the boys who were resting on the sofas. "Just try all the fears there are, heights, darkness etc," Namjoon advised. I listened to him and listed every fear I could think of, before I knew it an entire hour had passed by.

"How have you still not thought of a fear? Byeol hurry up, my curiosity's killing me," Taehyung yawned, tired at 2pm. "It's not accepting any of my answers, it's saying I'm wrong, HOW IS THIS STUPID PIECE OF TECH TRYING TO TELL ME I'M WRONG ABOUT ME?" I huffed, closing the laptop in annoyance. This action of shutting the laptop showed me a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror which was behind the laptop screen earlier making me release a hitched breath.

"Well shit, I've found my fear."

I didn't fear shadow, I feared what they could make me do, because at the end of the day. The only person I truly fear is myself.

I quickly typed in my own name, pressing enter with expectation.

*Accepted*

We all released breaths of relief, gathering around the laptop once again to see what was in the file. What was so important that they activated all these systems to conceal the information inside? A list of 7 words came up one by one, they were random words with zero relation to each other. "It must be a code, let's crack it, c'mon we can put our brains to work," Jin said, patting all of us on the back.

"It's not a code," I clenched my teeth in angst.

"They're trigger words."
