revenge.

••••••••••••

"What do you mean you don't know where she is?" Jungkook had finally awoken, he'd been drugged one too many times and the effect on him had started to lessen. He glared at his members who were driving as far as they possibly could get, the president had passed out in their car.

THE president of South Korea sat with the once most wanted man. What a time. "Taehyung returned to get her, they'll be fine," Hoseok tried to calm down his younger. "And Jaechan? Don't tell me you let him get away," Jungkook uttered in disbelief. "It was the president's life over catching him, we'll get him after, priorities are priorities," Yoongi told him.

"And what about my priority? What about Byeol? You left her for the president, when did you guys become such patriots? You don't even seem to care about her, she saved an entire country for god's sake. You left her behind and not even a call to Taehyung to see if she's fine-"

"WE THOUGHT HER A SISTER. But for your sake we even betrayed her, although that never meant for even a second our view on her changed. We care. You've only just awoken, do you know how hard the choice was? It's not about being patriots, it's about doing what she would've wanted us to do," Namjoon cut him off aggressively. All of them were on edge, the entire day had pushed their blood pressure levels through the roof.

"Byeol's selfless, of course she wouldn't want you to save her. Why didn't you put yourself in her shoes? Imagine for a second what she would've done, you think she would've even hesitated to save you? She chose me over trigger words she searched her entire life, the trigger words that ruined her. HOW COULD YOU JUST. Ugh," Jungkook paused in his words, massaging his temples. His brothers were not the ones to lecture. He was.

He had began to have an argument with himself in his head, he was meant to win that fight. It was all his fault. As though he told himself. He turned around, looking outside the car, back at the Blue house. They were at quite a far distance from it, but it was still visible. He pictured Byeol happily exiting with Taehyung, he pictured both of them being completely fine. But right as his mind drifted to a positive direction,

boom.

The world watched the Blue house blow to bits. They cried but little did they know this was nothing compared to the chaos that would've struck if Byeol hadn't managed to disable that nuke. She'd saved millions and the world didn't even mourn her.

But she wouldn't have cared.

Because her world sat there with his mouth dropped open, eyes almost popping out of their socket. Breathing was something he'd forgotten how to do. A gasp released out of all their mouths, the car had come to such a sudden halt yet none of them had flown forward. That's how stiff their bodies had gotten.

The first person to come back to their senses was Jin, he pulled out his phone to finally call Taehyung, praying they'd made it out before everything. But. No answer.

Jungkook opened the car door, stumbling out as he fell to his knees, recalling his promise. Forever, hah, he told her forever. Liars really do make the best promises. Promises are just sweet lies, sweet addictive lies. You shove them in someone else's mouth like candy, but you're the one that ends up choking. Fate had pulled them apart once and for all.

a couple hours later

"I don't care if you have to turn this place upside down, find their traces." Jungkook had ordered an entire search team to find his brother and Byeol. He thought if their traces weren't found, then it must mean they survived. Maybe their phones had died, or maybe they had to stay on the low. Or maybe they'd been abducted by Jaechan, after all no one knew where he was either.

His mind had thought of every possible scenario, but he couldn't disregard the worst thought. What if they'd died?

"Sir," a man approached Jungkook with a plastic bag. "The forensics confirmed they're in fact ashes..." He said, but Jungkook remained unfazed. He was living in his own world of delusions, facts wouldn't affect him, his reality was what he wanted it to be. "So? DNA isn't identifiable from ashes, there's no saying it belongs to them," Jungkook shrugged. "It's said there was no one else present in the building," the man spoke again, trying to snap Jungkook out this illusional state.

Instead, his words caused Jungkook to have an outburst of anger. He grabbed the man by his collar, throwing him against the wall before releasing a slight breath. This was the effect of Byeol's absence. He was returning to behaving like Euphoria. A psychopath without his humanity. "They're fine," Jungkook said, not knowing whether he was stating a fact or trying to convince himself.

*buzz*

He was alerted of a notification by the vibration of his phone in his back pocket. He pulled it out to furrow his eyebrows at the unknown number.

unknown:
Come get your other half.

Right after that text he was sent an address, he never been more relieved. He'd inferred that she was kidnapped by Jaechan but she was alive. SHE WAS ALIVE. And gosh did that excite Jungkook. Without informing a single soul he ran to the address, he knew it could've been a trap. But what did he care? Without her he'd die.

"Where is she?"

"Both of you are disgustingly similar, so impatient," Jaechan relaxed on his chair, spinning around like a child as if his life long goal hadn't been interrupted. "Tell me where she is," Jungkook gritted his teeth as Jaechan leaned forward. "Beg for it."

He whispered, the corners of his lip naturally lifting sinisterly.

-flashback-

I pleaded them, I don't plead anyone but I begged them. To help me put my mother's soul at a rest by finding her killer.

-

Jungkook hadn't begged anyone for anything in 8 years. Yet there he stood, helplessly clasping his hands, "please-"

"Oh c'mon, beg properly, kneel."

Jungkook shut his eyes, this was no time to have an ego. "No? I see, pride over anything right?" Jaechan started uttering his own nonsense, not expecting Jungkook to heed to his words in a million years. But when he saw the gulp, the swallowing of Jungkook's thick pride, and the action of kneeling, he knew how much Byeol meant to him.

"Please tell me where she is."

Jungkook begged, eyes shut tight because he already looked weak, he couldn't let Jaechan see the tears in his eyes. "She's dead," Jaechan shortly spoke, and this made Jungkook erupt into a laughter with no emotion.

"DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT? Kim Byeol? MY Byeol? She's dead? You'd be better off telling me she walked to the moon because that's more believable than her dying," Jungkook spat, "you say that with so much confidence? I brought you here as you are the last remaining person I need to kill before I go underground, if Byeol wasn't dead I wouldn't be dumb enough to invite you to a place with only you and me," Jaechan replied.

"She's alive, she's not dead, she can't die," Jungkook told him. "Really? And where is she then? Where have you put her ashes? If you even found them actually," Jaechan responded, getting ready to kill him, preparing his knife silently.

"You're telling me you don't feel the aura? Byeol is the one and only, you can't tell the difference between her being alive and not? Wasn't she your first love? C'mon Jaechan, you should be able to feel such a strong presence, if not when she's anywhere in the world then at least when she's near you," Jungkook crossed his legs, casually sitting on the floor. "What are you talking about?" Jaechan was slightly on edge considering Jungkook's confidence. "Turn around."

"Face your fate, look death in the eyes."

If you had to use an example to show someone scared out of their wits, you'd show them Jaechan. He slowly swivelled his head, heartbeat practically running a marathon. A figure emerged from the shadows, holding a sword dripping with the blood of his men.

"Hey fellas," she smiled.

"H-how," Jaechan naturally took a step back as Jungkook pushed him forward, "what's wrong?" Jungkook chuckled, trapping Jaechan in between them. "You thought you could kill me? You?" Byeol took aggressive steps forward in anger, nothing but vengeance to be seen in those ethereal blood smeared orbs.

"You were gonna kill ME? YOU FOOL. I'm agent fucking 001, even I can't kill me who the fuck do you think you are?" She hit his shoulder with her index finger again and again, pushing him towards the wall. Jaechan had a small pocket knife on him, he was going up against Byeol and Jungkook. There was no way he'd win. So what did he resort to? Begging.

"BYEOL PLEASE," he rubbed his hands in a pleading way. "For the sake of our love, although not existent anymore, but for the sake of past, let me live. For the sake of promises that we'd stay together forever, for the sake of swearing to live and die for one another, for the sa-"

"It wasn't real," Byeol cut him off, not letting his clear intent to emotionally blackmail her work. "You used me, you always had your own purpose, your love for me was sparked by hate, hate for your father. So it wasn't real, the audacity to even call it love is a disgrace to the emotion," Byeol spat.

"I didn't feel anything ever, the first emotion I felt other than hatred was love. You were the reason behind it. Love is a weakness, and I hated you for it, for making me weak. Because I knew damn well love wasn't an emotion my unfaithful father felt, that's why he was so strong. When I came here, I didn't look for you. The only reason being that I took an oath, that I'd destroy you. Because only then would I be able to destroy my father," Jaechan uttered, sitting up as he rested on his knees tiredly. He was in a state of epiphany. He looked so confused.

"Look at you, you look just like your father," Byeol looked down at him with a pitiful face.

"How did you become the very person you swore to destroy?" She tilted her head as a tear slipped his eye, her eyebrows raised ever so slightly. This was emotion. "Save me," he cried, surprised at himself, and how he'd let the thirst for vengeance consume him. "I can't save you, not when you're this dismantled, some buildings can't be sculpted back," she uttered, returning to her emotional state.

"Yes you can, Byeol you have no idea what you're capable of," Jaechan responded. "You're enough to make a king kneel," he glanced at Jungkook.

"You are enough to drive a saint to madness."

He admired the face he was still in love with, even if it was in the most absurd way. "Even if we die, we die together, remember those empty promises," he chuckled sadly making Byeol scoff. "Really? You're really going to try that again? I guess I was wrong, you haven't changed at all. But, I have. I'm not that little girl blind in love anymore, that emotional blackmail isn't going to work on me, I assure you," she rested her sword on his neck making him sigh.

"Tell me, how did you keep your heart?" He questioned her, after all no one had gone through more than she had, no one he knew could be standing alive with a past like hers, "I didn't," she shortly spoke before continuing.

"I let it wonder off, get lost within the stars momentarily. If I kept it with me I'd have lost my mind. There are times where you only put your mind to use, times where you let someone else bring your heart back to you. Someone who'll treat it gently with the knowingness of how delicate and fragile it is. Someone on their own journey, earnestly searching for their own heart, who gives you the responsibility to find theirs, because love isn't a one way structure, without effort from both sides the house collapses," she responded, making Jungkook release a very slight smile.

"Teach me, teach me how to love," Jaechan said, "I'm afraid that isn't my duty, don't think I've forgiven you, this is just a conversation that needed to occur before we never meet again. I'm sure Satan has a bone to pick with you," Byeol told him, dropping the sword to use a gun instead. The last time she'd used the sword it didn't guarantee his death. And now she wasn't going to leave this place without watching his soul leave his body.

"You're a monster unworthy of redemption. The things you did, the things you put me through. They'll haunt me for eternity. Forgiveness isn't something you deserve, not when I almost lost my life trying to save millions from you. Not when you took an oath to destroy me just to stop feeling," her lips quivered at the memory of her parents dead bodies, something he'd made her do just to for the pleasure he'd get from the sight of her losing herself. "You ruined me,"

"I'd like to return the favour." Byeol aimed her gun at his forehead, looking into his eyes for the last time as she allowed their past memories to rush through her head.

"You're the only person who can save me from this everlasting feeling of wrath," he sobbed.

"If I am your salvation."

"Welcome to hell."
