no more.
I got back onto my feet, almost falling back down because of how horrible my state was but I managed to regain my balance. "I really am sorry, for everything," I apologised weakly.
"Idiot," he shortly insulted.
"I wouldn't be here if I hadn't forgiven you already," he cracked a small smile. I was struggling to stand up straight, I couldn't regain my posture anymore, about to fall when Jungkook dropped his gun without hesitation and ran to me.
"I've got you love, forever this time."
I was so drained and so in desperate need of comfort I couldn't help but hug him back. His embrace felt like one I could pass away in peacefully. Then, right after realisation set in, I pulled apart. "I don't deserve this, I k... I killed your mother, I ruined your life I- I was the reason you turned to a life of murder Jungkook don't you get it I'm a horrible person," I cried in my own world of self hatred.
"Baby you didn't have a choice," he caressed my cheek, gently wiping off the blood. Gosh. Was he really the same Jungkook I knew? He's become so much more, mature. So understanding, the way he accepted me back into his life was something that made me smile through all the terrors of earlier moments. His eyes. They're filled again. Not with hatred but with love. But how is that possible?
"You still?" I tilted my head, "how could I not?" He replied, mimicking my action cutely as he put his jacket around me. "H- for how long?" I asked, tears of surprise filling in my eyes. He should hate me. I do. I hate me.
"I never stopped."
Locking eyes with him felt like holding on for dear life. And as the tears poured out my eyes, disguised with the rain flooding down, we moved closer. Hesitation filled our veins because of events hard to ignore. "We probably shouldn't," I spoke, he nodded as he released a breath. Even as we mutually agreed not to, both of us couldn't move away.
"Fuck it," he muttered under his breath.
We deserved that. I know I did. A long awaited kiss that freed me from this disgusting reality of mine. And though it was momentary, it was all I needed.
"Let's kill some motherfuckers," I told him, making him chuckle as he caressed my hair, "I thought you didn't want revenge." He uttered making me go into thought, I looked over at the lifeless bodies of all those innocents including my parents. Hands scrunching into small fireballs as I realised it was my duty to avenge them. "Well what can I say?"
"Purpose fuels passion."
next day
"Byeol you shouldn't be up and running so quickly, we have to run tests and see if you're medically clear," Taehyung lectured me as I sat around the planning table with Jungkook. The morning had been hectic, I had no time to cry. I'd just given Jaechan the key to destroying the world, I couldn't sit around crying about killing my parents. That'd be selfish.
"The nuke takes off at 5pm, we have to do everything in our capability to stop it. It's still stored in the government's most secure room but the control room has been changed, meaning it can be activated for take off in a completely different place. We need to locate it and disable the system," I said, pulling out a map.
"3 jets are going to set out today, all filled with Shadow's best men, we're talking about body builders with 20 years+ experience. They're headed to the control centre, to assure no one becomes an obstacle to Jaechan's plan-"
"Jaechan? As in your first love? The guy you killed years ago?" Taehyung questioned, I hadn't had time to tell him anything. All he knew was a nuke was going to be activated and we needed to stop it.
"Yeah yeah, he's alive and he's a psycho now and he wants to wipe out an entire country, therefore he's an enemy, gosh Taehyung catch up," I informed him hastily.
"Back to the point, it's our job to take the location of the control room from those jets, and at the same time ensure those jets never get there. We'll need all the help we can get, which means the other boys can come out now chop chop," I clapped my hands, signalling Jimin, Namjoon, Yoongi, Hoseok and Jin to come in. They awkwardly walked in, last time we met there was a whole lot of betrayal going on.
"Me and Jungkook will handle the jets, I need the rest of you to stay on standby, as soon as we figure out the location you GO. Whether we die or what, you go straight to it. Once you get there I need Taehyung and Namjoon to disable it while the others cause a distraction. Me and Jungkook will come there as fast as we can but we rely on you guys to fry the entire system. We can't fuck this up, millions of lives rely on it," I spoke seriously.
"It's time to go Jungkook," I looked over at a Jungkook who was lost in his thoughts.
"What no cheer no nothing? This is the mission of our lives, we need some sort of motivation don't you think?" Jimin raised his eyebrows.
"If you get hit, hit them back harder, if you fall, get back up-"
"And if you die?" Jungkook gazed at me with a genuine question.
"Well. Then you better make sure your soul haunts those bitches for the rest of their lives," the corners of my lips went up ever so slightly as we packed to leave. I grabbed my knives and guns, stacking them everywhere I could. Me and Jungkook left hastily, driving underneath the jets silently.
"You know, if you feel like it, you can turn around now and I won't say anything. Don't make this your responsibility, we're only human," Jungkook told me. "Exactly, we're human, being weak is part of our nature. We do, and if necessary we die, for the life of others," I replied.
"Right, so quick question, how the hell are we going to get up there?" Jungkook asked, peeking up to the height of the jets.
"We fly," I shortly replied, making him look at me questionably. "You have superpowers?" He asked, causing me to look at him with the same expression he had on a moment ago.
"What? No- I don't mean literally you fucking dipshit," I face-palmed with the other hand on the steering wheel. "Taehyung made a set of boots that give flight, it only has so much fuel though, so try not to blow up all of the jets," I warned, parking the car quickly as we exited. The pair of us stepped into the boots, watching them power up. "You fly first," I nudged Jungkook making him sigh.
"These haven't been tested before, have they?" He spoke, but had no choice but to rely on this technology to save the world from war. He shut his eyes, powering it up as he began to levitate, "wah woah," he chuckled, having fun. As he got used to the motion, he flew all the way up before I followed behind him shortly.
We entered different jets, working seperately was a faster method. I kicked the window of the jet, wobbling my way in. I awkwardly stood among 30 very VERY large men.
"Eh, I've dealt with bigger," I thought to myself, firstly shooting down the biggest one. I had to rely on weapons, god knows what Jaechan had me do while I was under his control. It felt like my body had no ability to do anything at that moment.
The men were so relaxed, so sure that me and Jungkook would never join forces ever again. Which for them was obviously a good thing, Euphoria and Agent 001 were the only people capable of stopping Shadow. This relaxation made them let down their guard, this surprise attack making it easy to take them down.
I'd taken out 1 of the 3 jets while Jungkook was almost done with the other one. I used the final bit of fuel in my boots to fly to the last standing jet. My guns were all out of ammo, and the men in this jet had used the little bit of common sense they had to realise they were under attack. They all sat there prepared, cracking their knuckles as excitement to kill me built inside them.
"Well don't just sit there, fight me,"
Sweat trickled off of them, that's what a confident woman does to a man with fragile masculinity. I slightly cracked my neck, warming my body up to fight them. Right then, Jungkook entered the jet, done with the other one, we peeked out the windows to see it on fire. The men tried to act quickly while we were distracted but Jungkook threw me a gun as we both tilted our heads in awe of their stupidity.
"What on earth were you trying to do there?" He chuckled at them.
We exchanged a certain type of glance to indicate our next moves. We stood side by side, doing a little handshake before going absolutely ruthless on those men.
While Jungkook seemed to be handling the men well, I sneaked into the pilots section. It was on autopilot with a location typed in.
"But that's... the blue house," I couldn't help but furrow my eyebrows in confusion. Why would he choose to activate a nuke being sent to North Korea from the president's building? I immediately called Taehyung's number, realising Shadow must have all control over government authorities, and the way they had managed to do all that by holding the president of South Korea hostage. His daredevil actions have gone off the charts. Kim Jaechan really has lost it.
"I've sent you the address, GO! GO NOW-"
I was cut off by a huge punch, it was so hard I was physically thrown to another dimension. I came to my senses, flipping up onto my feet. "I've worked as the head of security for 17 years, give it up, I'm Shadow's best man," he proudly smirked, trying to intimidate me failed miserably. A person with nothing to lose cannot be scared by anyone except their past.
"And I'm Agent fucking 001."
"A fate worse than death."
I smiled, wearing blood like perfume as I punched his chest in a way that would momentarily block his air pathway, it was an ancient technique I worked hard to perfect. While he choked I used a chair as a stool, jumping off it to wrap my legs around his head, not wasting time as I snapped his neck. Having no hesitation in times like this was why I won all my fights, I didn't feel the need to stop and have a whole hero monologue, it wasn't necessary.
I jumped off of his dead body, exiting the pilots section to return and help Jungkook. "Don't move or I'll kill him!" A man screamed at me, holding a gun to Jungkook's head, I raised an eyebrow at the situation he'd managed to get himself in. "He came outta nowhere," Jungkook shrugged tiredly, he had all the ability to free himself of the man's grip but he was too lazy to. That's Jungkook.
"What makes you think I need to move to kill you?"
My body stayed completely still as I put my arm out, wearing the bracelet Taehyung was working on weeks ago. The one where knives shoot out mentally. I shut my eyes, putting all my focus to make sure the knives heeded to my brain waves properly. The small metal pieces released from my wrist, embedding themselves into that mans neck. He fell to the floor as Jungkook finally let go of the breath he was holding. When I shut my eyes to shoot he'd already started imagining his funeral.
"Yah what if you missed and accidentally hit me?" He asked, we both paused. Nostalgia hit us as we cracked into smiles, remembering this exact situation back from when we'd just met. This happy scene didn't last, joyful situations never do, not in my life at least.
The man I'd just shot a knife at was still alive, nearing his death but still eager to destroy. "If I'm going down, you both are coming with me," he uttered, pulling out a grenade with the pin already extracted from it. Both mine and Jungkook's eyes flew wide, quick to react but not quick enough. I paced towards the grenade, grabbing it and throwing it at the crack in the jet door. But before it made it all the way out it blasted.
The impact made us fly back first but then with the jet half open in mid-air, the wind speeds pulled us towards the outside. I wasn't ready for the heavy winds, in a hurry I'd grabbed onto something unsuitable to sustain not only my weight but the pressure that was pulling me. The thing I was holding onto broke, preparing me to free fall all the way down.
"When I said I got you forever, I meant it,"
Jungkook's hand firmly wrapped around my wrist. The only way to save me from falling was by jumping out himself, and he'd done it without hesitation. He was holding onto a piece of the jet, and using the other one to hold me. His muscles flexed hard through his black t-shirt, to hold on with such an immense pressure of winds requires more core strength than you can imagine. Along with that he had to hold his weight and mine, something tells me this won't end so well.
"Stay with me Byeol," he groaned, trying to pull me up but it failed as soon as he attempted it. The thing he was gripping on had started to falter, "I'm starting to think, we should've turned the car around," I huffed, sadly chuckling, watching his arms numb out. "They can't do it alone, at least one of us has to survive, to get there and help them," I said, but he ignored me and continued an earnest attempt to save both of us. "Your brother's need you," I yelled, "so do you, what's your point?" He asked, gritting his teeth in pain.
"JUNGKOOK."
"You have to let me go,"
It seemed like his mind had paused, like I'd stood as an obstacle in his train of thoughts. "Byeol..." He was struggling to make a decision, millions of lives, or me. He looked down at me with his eyes empty. His grip around my hand slightly loosened as he had stopped trying to lift me up.
"I'm sorry."
