Jungkook POV
Byeol suddenly erupted into an uncontrollable flood of tears. She ran up to the man and hugged him so tight he looked like he couldn't breathe.
"Miss, do I know you?" He raised his eyebrows. "Come on old man, don't tell me I'm this forgettable?" She tilted her head, watching the man come to a realisation, quickly cupping her face, not believing who was in front him.
"Oh my god what are you doing back here?" He asked, worried, but still smiling from ear to ear. We sat on a bench nearby, they seemed to know each other so I let them catch up on old stuff while Byeol explained our reason for being here.
"Do you remember your promise?" The old man asked. "Which one uncle?" She replied, the man chuckled sadly, shaking his head.
"No it's fine if you don't remember, I didn't completely expect you to keep it," he looked down, unable to hide his disappointment.
"Oh the one I made about finding your son?" Byeol suddenly remembered, he nodded but his expression stayed the same, seeming like he had no hope anyways.
"You're making it sound like you found him," he said. Byeol looked at me, hesitating on what to say, this girl didn't keep her promise did she.
"I did!" She exclaimed.
"Really?!" The man screamed in joy, she nodded innocently although her lie couldn't get past me.
"When? Do you have a picture? How is he?" He fired questions at her, happiness taking control of his words.
"Why don't you ask him yourself?" Byeol spoke, puzzling both the old man and me.
"Is he here?" He asked, she nodded and gestured in my direction, I turned around to see if there was anyone there. Making me realise, this idiot, was pointing at me.
"What are you trying to say?" The man said, looking towards me with doe eyes.
"Yeah Byeol, what are you trying to say?" I gave her a questionable expression.
"Uncle, can I have a word with him before you have him to yourself?" She spoke, pulling me to a corner.
"Look Jungkook, his face fucking dropped at the thought of me not finding his son. I had to lie okay, just, pretend to be his son, please," she begged me, eyes desperate for a positive answer.
"Alright alright but, what if he realises I'm not actually his son? Imagine how heart broken he'll be," I replied.
"He won't realise if you play along properly, and I trust you," she patted my shoulder, quickly pecking my cheek before pulling me back to sit down next to the man who had tears of happiness rolling down his face.
"That peck was for good luck, don't fuck this up Jeon," she whispered in my ear, sitting on the other side of the man.
"First of all, I am so sorry, to you, and your mum. We were people who fell in love at the wrong time, she was already married and everything we did was wrong," he spoke, genuinely looking apologetic.
"I-it's okay..." I replied, he pulled me into a hug, and a rush of euphoria hit me. His embrace made me feel so happy, but I didn't even know him.
"How's bumble bee doing?" He asked me. Shit, this is the downfall, I don't know who the fuck that is. Wait, wasn't bumble bee her nickname?
"Oh, right, you wouldn't know your mums nickname, how's Soojin doing?" He repeated his question. My breathing paused, as I dared to look into his eyes.
Soojin is a common name, it's only a coincidence that the name of his lover is the same as my mums. But bumble bee, wasn't that once her nickname too?
Byeol and the man both stared at me, waiting for my response. "She, uh, passed away," I said, instead of making up a random story, I figured I should just tell him mine.
"Oh no my poor boy, I'm so sorry you had to go through something like that," he replied, putting his hand over mine.
"Do you possibly have a picture of her? I was wondering how your mum looked after all these years, the only picture I have is this one and it's from decades back," he said, pulling out a polaroid picture of a young woman who looked, familiar.
"No," I got up, confusing both of them.
"No," I repeated, shaking my head while muttering the same thing under my breath again and again.
"What's wrong?" Both of them asked me. I had so many thoughts yet words couldn't form in my mouth, I felt suffocated, inches away from having a mental breakdown. My breaths were pacing up, Byeol noticed how not ok I was, and excused the both of us out.
"No no no," I said again and again, I was so shocked, confused, not in the right state of mind.
"What happened? Breathe, I'm here for you," she spoke, holding my shoulders. I fell on the floor so- I don't even know what feeling this was. She kneeled down by my side.
"Look at me," she whispered softly. Tears filled my eyes as it felt like I was struggling to breathe.
"I can't handle this, it's not possible, I'm not believing this, no fucking way-"
"Breathe, relax, you're okay, tell me what's on your mind," she told me. Her voice was able to calm me down, just like mum.
The person Byeol reminded me of was my mum, that was what made her so different, what made her stand out from the rest. She lived. Didn't just exist, but lived. And a fire like hers, the fire set home in her eyes, that was in my mother's eyes too. So admirable.
"The picture of his lover, it's the same," I gulped, not wanting to believe it. "Same as the picture of my mum," I finally said.
"What?" She spoke in utter disbelief, "what a small world, god this really must be hard to handle," she threw her confusion out the window, focusing on me as she pulled me into a hug.
"This isn't fair, I can't even stay here for long," I cried, letting out tears for the first time in years. The only time I had gotten close to it was when telling her the story of my mother but even then, I managed to contain it. But now? How could I possibly be calm?
"Jungkook do you realise how lucky you are?" She wiped my tears with her fingers, grabbing my face.
"You're able to meet the man your mum probably yearned to see every single day of her life, it's like you're fulfilling her wish right now. But I can't tell you how to tie your shoelaces if I'm not wearing your shoes. I can't feel what you're feeling right now, so if you're not ready to go back and talk to him, that's okay, I can tell him for you-"
"No. My mum was, and will always be, the most amazing person I've ever had in my life. I trust her, more than myself. So if she took part in something like adultery, throwing her entire marriage out the window, then she must've seen something unique in that man." I finished, wiping my tears and getting ready to go back to meet the man- my dad.
Byeol POV
We talked the night away, feeling like a real family. It's like life was, perfect. At last I felt happy.
But happiness is temporary. Feelings are temporary. My life will always be controlled by them. It's like my actions are supposed to reflect what type of a person I am, instead they reflected how disgusting those people were. What they wanted me to do, I had to do soon.
Before my love for him would stop me.
Meanwhile - BTS POV
"Fuck fuck fuck," Namjoon panicked. The boys crowded around Taehyung's laptop as they found a chip underneath it.
"It's a bug, someone's been able to listen to every single thing we've been saying," Yoongi spoke.
"Where the hell is Tae, this is his laptop he should know something about how the fuck a bug got underneath it," Hoseok said.
"He's still sleeping," Jimin replied.
"Oh shit," Jin muttered under his breath realising something.
"Byeol hacked into the CIS CCTV system. She had the laptop all to herself while us fools talked amongst ourselves, she had all the time in the world to place a bug in the laptop," Jin continued.
"So you're trying to say she might have been working for them?" Namjoon raised his eyebrows. Jin didn't reply to what he asked, instead he picked up the sketch of Agent 001's eyes, and compared them to the picture of Byeol on her driver's license which she had probably left here on accident.
"We made Jungkook hide in a dangerous place like North Korea to keep him safe from Agent 001, but how could we forget Byeol was the one who suggested going there in the first place?" Jin continued.
"Oh my god hyung get to the point already," Namjoon screamed in frustration, extremely impatient and on edge, as were the rest of them.
"Long story short, we're fucking idiots, because the agent we've been looking for, was living under our roof this whole time,"
The boys paused in one place, not even the sounds of their breathing could be heard. They were so, shocked they just stood, frozen.
"Hyung, Byeol is a girl, there's no way-"
"How many times did she try to tell us it didn't have to be a man? We were just too ignorant to see she was trying to hint things at us," Jin yelled in annoyance.
He realised how he loud he raised his voice at the boys he considered family, he apologised and calmed himself down, giving them the pictures he was looking at before, the rest of them stared at the pictures carefully.
"We can't be completely sure yet-"
"Denying it won't change anything."
"Those eyes belong to Byeol."
