Byeol POV - present
Jungkook's mouth dropped open as I finished summarising him the story.
"THAT MEANS YOU- killed the president's son, that's like a huge fucking deal," he whispered.
"I figured you should know that I'm a disgusting person, a bad person you shouldn't trust," I replied, looking down.
"You're not a bad person, and I already trust you, I know you," he smiled, tucking a piece of my hair behind my ear.
"No you don't Jungkook, you don't know me," I told him, literally on the verge of tears because of how guilty I felt.
"Excuse me, the time slot you payed to be here for is over," a staff member walked in to inform us. We changed into clothes suitable for sleeping from our suitcases before walking out.
What I changed into:
We found a place in the forest where others were also setting up tents, we put ours next to theirs. Better to blend in than stand out. We finally went inside the tent and it was a lot, smaller, than we expected it to be.
We still managed to lay down just, closer. We carefully took out the contacts from our eyes, while taking off the makeup on our faces with wipes.
"How can you still believe in love, when your experience with it ended so, tragically?" Jungkook questioned, facing me. "Because, in this pathetic life of mine, love acts as hope. If I ceased to believe in love, why would I want to live?" I responded.
"I agree," Jungkook spoke.
"I thought you-"
"I thought so too, but you, gosh. What have you done to me?" He asked, taking me by surprise. "To change a view I've believed so strongly in, my entire life. How did you do it? How did you make me fall for you?" He confessed, staring deeply into my eyes. "Jungkook-"
"Just answer this, at this moment, do you still love me?" He cut me off, "I'm still under the effect of the drug-"
"Yes or no," he sternly stated.
"Yes. Yes Jungkook, I love you, I'm so fucking in love with you I want to see you every second and it literally suffocates me to think of a life without you, even when you've only been in it for such a short period of time," I replied. "But what meaning of such love that is fabricated?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What if I told you it isn't?" He said while a small smile appeared on his lips. "Do you recall flipping me over in the martial arts academy?" He asked out of the blue.
"Yeah, it was hilarious to see you underestimate me, why?" I responded, confused at his statement.
"When you hurt me, it didn't affect your heart, did it?" He tilted his head. "What do you mean?" I went into deep thought, extremely puzzled. When I hurt him, a sharp pain didn't run past my heart like it used to.
"What I mean, my love, is that you've truly fallen for me," he let out his full smile, stretching ear to ear.
"Don't lie to me Jungkook, this isn't funny," I spoke, everything was slowly piecing together.
"The food I bought for you, I mixed in the antidote of the drug in it."
He explained, making me release a breath, that's not possible. I punched him in the arm multiple times, thinking of killing him every time, but nothing. No pain. "Are you just taking out your anger now?" Jungkook groaned, I'd punched the same place about 7 times.
"We can't be together, it's not possible Jungkook you don't understand, we're, we're world's apart," I told him.
"If you trust me, I can show you that we can make this work. So, do you?" He asked, looking into my eyes with a loving gaze I hadn't noticed before. I slowly nodded without even realising what I was agreeing to.
I was too surprised to even react to the kiss, Jungkook seemed to take this in a negative way since he pulled away.
"Too soon?" He asked awkwardly, I smiled at his flushed face. "No it's not your fault, I'm just, scared. The last time I fell in love," I sighed, not able to finish my sentence.
"I promise I won't do anything like that to you," he assured me.
"But I'm afraid I will..."
"What do you mean-"
"Nothing, I'm just talking crazy," I smiled, letting myself fall flat. I turned around the other way to sleep. I felt Jungkook's arms snake around my waist, pulling me back closer to him. He snuggled himself onto my body, resting his forehead on my neck. His breath felt tingly on my back, but it was rather soothing. That stupid mad in love smile took over my face.
How long would this feeling of normality last?
next morning
I awoke to a sweet scent running up my nose, it was his cologne. So addicting, like him. Waking up to his face was something I wished to get used to, but I wouldn't. He shouldn't become a habit.
"Have you finally realised how handsome I am? Is that why you can't get your eyes off of me?" Jungkook asked, smirking with his eyes still closed. First thing in the morning and he can't stop teasing me.
"Zip it," I said, "or what, you'll stitch my lips together?" He mocked me jokingly, "ha ha, very funny," I rolled my eyes as I got up to walk out of the tent, I immediately flinched seeing something I never expected to.
"Uh, Jungk- Jackson, come out," I shook the tent aggressively to get his attention.
"What Byeol, miss me already- oh shit."
He got out and cut his own words off seeing what was in front of him. A huge crowd of North Korean troops standing around our tent with long guns.
"Can we help you?" I asked in english, trying to stay calm.
"We've gotten a report of suspicious behaviour from the both of you, we're here to investigate," a soldier replied.
"Suspicious? Us? How?" I questioned innocently. They ignored my words and barged past us, going inside the tent to look through our belongings. They finally found the bag with our passports inside, they thoroughly checked through them.
They walked out again with unreadable faces, but considering how normal they looked we had guessed they hadn't noticed anything off.
"See, now we're free to go right-"
"GET THEM!"
"Oh for fucks sake," I cursed, quickly grabbing our bags. I yanked on Jungkook's sleeve to start running, they chased after us, shooting bullets, so we both ran at our fastest to make sure they wouldn't have enough time to aim. We made it to corner and they seemed to not come here.
"Oh fucking hell that was close right- Jungkook? Shit," I internally face-palmed noticing he wasn't by my side, god knows where he ran off to. I slowly got up and looked around, quietly searching the area to find him.
"YOU!" Someone screamed from afar, it was a solider who noticed me, my bright ass hair colour wasn't hard to spot. Right then my hand was pulled into an alleyway nearby, my heart skipped a million beats in fear.
Jungkook was wearing the uniform of a soldier, one he had probably stolen off of someone he killed, "so my survival skills are better than yours, noted." He smiled.
"Oh thank the lords you're alive," I sighed in relief. "Don't be so thankful, that soldiers walking here with a gun and he's not scared to shoot," Jungkook spoke, peeking to see where the soldier had gotten to.
"So, do you like have an idea on what to do?" I asked.
"North Korean or South Korean, British or American, there's one thing all humans have in common. One thing that makes all of them so uncomfortable that they have to turn their head and leave." He started, I glanced around the corner and that man was getting closer by the minute.
"Ok what is it?" I raised my eyebrows.
"Before I tell you, I need you to be prepared, I need your permission," he spoke. I nodded quickly, anxious of how near the man was.
"Yeah yeah you have my permission now what is it?"
"Sex."
"Wait what-"
He cut me off by smashing his lips onto mine, pressing his body onto mine while he shifted my shirt off of my shoulder, to make it look like we were doing, you know, it. He turned me to the side to make sure the soldier wouldn't be able to see my face at all.
"PUT YOUR HANDS- oh I'm so s-sorry... I think I got m-mixed up," the young solider lowered his gun, and fixed his hat to cover his flushed face of embarrassment. He turned around to leave but Jungkook seemed so into the kiss he didn't notice.
"You know you kids can like, stop with the dirty shit now?" A bored manly voice beside us spoke. I quickly pushed Jungkook off of me, fixing up my shirt again, slightly glaring at Jungkook for his 'plan.'
"What, have you like not seen that one Captain America movie? Public displays of affection make people very uncomfortable, it worked perfectly, and I enjoyed it." Jungkook shrugged, running his index finger across his lip while I was just trying to get a good look at the man's face, but he'd already turned around.
"Excuse me!" I screamed to get his attention, I was curious as to why he didn't expose who we were even though he was very obviously also a soldier. As the man turned around, and I identified him, tears filled my eyes without hesitating to plummet down my face.
"Uncle Jeon?"
