Chapter 2

"I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you."

-Starving (Hailee Steinfeld)

It was in the darkest of hour had consciousness wash over the figure layed on white mattress. Everything around her stilled motionless. Only the air circulating throughout the four corners of the untidy room seemed to be moving. Sakura Haruno, weak as a mouse, forced to open her eyes. Even she wasn't used to this dead silence. Her eyes squinted, adjusting her vision only to find shadows lurking the empty space around her.

Where the hell am I?

Slowly, she moved her fingers and felt a shear pain course from her forearm. When she managed to move the rest of her body, Sakura instantly sat up, and examined the damage on her arm. Her eyes narrowed, realizing what happened before she went unconscious.

Whoever that bastard is, he better not cross paths with her again.

She weakly traced the carved words on her skin, wincing at the small jolts of pain it brought her. Her mind then ventured to what the man said. Someone's going to kill me? And what frightens her more is that whoever this 'someone' is, he/she knows about Sakura's little 'curse'.

Then again, that cloaked guy could be some psycho. The logical part of her brain argued, but much to her dismay, logic seems to not be an option anymore. When was 'seeing the future' a logical notation to begin with?

"You're awake.."

The pinkette was taken aback when a familiar voice spoke. She looked up and saw Sasuke Uchiha, standing before her with a tray of food in hand. She almost forgot about him.

"Sasuke."

He sat on the edge of the bed, and placed the tray ontop of a bedside table. Sasuke stared at her for a few minutes, knowing he interrupted her sea of thoughts.

"Are you feeling any better?"

"Yeah.. I guess so."

He nodded. An eerie silence fell upon them before Sakura broke the ice,

"Is this your..?" Motioning to their surroundings. Sasuke got the meaning and smiled. "Hn. Where else would I take you? I don't even know where your apartment is." He glanced outside the window and sighed.

"I saw you in an alley yesterday.. That guy.. Who is he? Then the next minute, you passed out."

Sakura can detect the confusion and hesitation in his voice. Well, she couldn't blame him! Even she was confused. But, can she tell him what truly happened? Green eyes darted to the raven-haired teen, studying his features. Something's telling her that she could trust this guy. Well, here goes nothing..

"So what you said yesterday.. About you being able to see the future.. Is true?" Sasuke asked after a long explanation. He had his eyebrows furrowed still. Sakura nodded, glad that he managed to sink in all the information she just provided him with.

They sat on the edge of the bed in silence. She was just about to eat her toasts on the tray when she heard him sigh and placed a hand on top of hers. The pinkette immediately felt bolts of electricity coursing through her the moment their skin made contact. But more to this, she felt comfortable by his mere touch.

Sasuke darted his eyes on the carved letters on her forearm, fresh with hints of red from the wound.

fata

"That's the Greek word for fate, isn't it?"

She nodded, helplessly trying to hide the bloody reminder that cloaked man left her. Sasuke stared intently at Sakura and spoke in a soft voice, "I believe you.."

Again, her heart made a summersaut. He does? She then shook her head. A bad thought came to mind.

"I'm not dragging you into this Uchiha. I-I can manage.."

The courage in her voice faltered. The raven-haired teen smirked at her and leaned closer, his eyes never leaving hers.

"Whether you like it or not, we're in this together now, Haruno." And with that, he closed the gap between them, claiming but only her lips but also her fragile heart.

Sakura Haruno couldn't deny it any longer. She needed him and deep inside, she knew he needed her just as much.

A two days passed since Sakura and Sasuke got together. Neither of them noticed the critisizing stares they get whenever the two walked hand in hand down the school premises. Some people say Sakura hypnotized the boy, others say she bewitched him. Rumors were spreading like wild fire around the campus but Sasuke didn't mind.. Well, as long as they mean no physical harm, they could all die in a hell hole for all he cares.

Nothing else matters to him but Sakura Haruno. That weird little pinkette who has the ability to see the future.

And right now, a blush was creeping up her cheeks as he kept an arm slung around her shoulders.

"S-Sasuke, this is PDA!"

The raven-haired boy chuckled and snuggled his head in the crook of her shoulder, inhaling her intoxicating scent. He was long gone in the sea of love and there's nothing he can do about it.

"Having you next to me feels like the most natural thing on earth." Said Sasuke in all honesty.

She sighed, knowing her boyfriend's stubbornness rivals that of hers.

"Hmm.. Say, what will happen to Kiba?" He suddenly asked out of boredom, lazily glancing at the brunette's direction. Sakura followed his gaze and spoke in a whisper,

"He'll die single."

"Ouch." Black orbs stared at her, questioning. "Are you serious?"

She nodded.

Truthfully, seeing other people's futures has it's ups and downs. Sometimes she couldn't help but feel sorry for some. Sakura Haruno, with her cursed visions, has seen death many times before. Yes, that's the disadvantage of being able to see past time. She can see people's deadlines. Some even die young..

"Can we do anything about it?" Asked the Uchiha, a tad bit curious.

Sakura shrugged. "I don't know.. But as far as I'm concern, meddling with one person's fate will affect the others.. So I never tried."

"Affect the others?"

Jade green eyes drifted off someone in a distance.

"Yes, kinda like a rippling effect. Once you get involved in someone else's business, the people around him or ger will get affected too. Say for example, I prevent a certain event from happening and to do that, I have to change a few things. Like setting Kiba up with a certain girl and advise him to marry her for his own good..who knows what will the consequences be? So I'd best not meddle with stuffs like these."

Sasuke looked perplexed. His eyebrows were furrowed when he spoke,

"But wouldn't it be worth the trouble to save someone's life? I know where you're coming from, but if I were you, I'd prefer to die doing something good than sit down and do nothing at all.. No offense, love."

She managed a weak smile.

"None taken.. But, Sasuke, that's the point. You're not me."

The day went by in a blur. Night time fell upon them and soon enough, the pinkette found herself staring at her room's ceiling for more than twenty minutes now. Her mind was flooding with endless possibilities and something in the pit of her stomach told her tonight wasn't any ordinary night. She remembered what Sasuke said, contemplated even. He's right. Maybe she was just scared to admit that. Heck, she was even scared to meddle with other people's lives!

She's weak.

That's very clear to her now.

If only I can do something more than just read their fates. She heaved a deep sigh and just when she was about to turn off her nightlamp, pain sheered from her forearm.

"G-Gaaah!"

She sat up and pulled up her sleeves to gaze at the carved words. Sakura's breath hitched when she realized the words were bleeding again! Her head started to spin and a gust of cold air swept past her. What? But I closed the window! Panic raised in her chest. Sweat trickled from her forehead.

Something was definitely wrong!

Before she could reach her phone to call Sasuke, the lights went out.

Darkness enveloped her entire being and the silence was killing her.

Just then, the silhouette of a man appeared standing on the edge of her bed. Her eyes shot wide open. Sakura tried to run away, but her body froze on the spot. It was like something was keeping her in place.

In three days' time, judgement will fall upon you, the one who holds the curse of fate.. He will kill you mercilessly. Until then, be warned: reckless actions to escape the inevitable will fall useless in the hands of time, Sakura Haruno..

Her heart thumped wildly. How could she forget?! Today's the third day since the cloaked man warned her. She was so hooked up with disregarding the matter, thinking it will never come. Thinking he will never bother with her. She was so blinded with the fact that Sasuke's keeping her safe that the warning never crossed her mind.

Stupid! She mentally screamed at herself when the man advanced.

"P-Please.. S-Stay away.." Her voice came barely audible.

But the dark figure ignored her pleas.

Is this the end of me?

Sakura took in a deep breath and closed her eyes tightly when she saw a glimpse of the blade he was holding. The only thing she heard was the slicing of the sword through thin air, and soon enough, Sakura felt it's blade puncture her heart.

It stopped beating instantly and tears trickled down her cheek.

Sasuke..

She anticipated a blinding light to greet her. She waited for that eerie feeling of her soul leaving her body, but none of which came. And the funny thing is,

She couldn't feel anything at all.

No pain.

No ragged breaths.

No blood.

Nothing.

Until..

Dub.dub.

Her heart started beating again. It was racing inside her chest and then the blade she felt coursing through her damp skin disappeared. Sakura opened her eyes and looked around.

Tall glass walls surrounded her.

She stood up and took in her new surroundings. "Where am I?" She mumured, feeling the cold glassed flooring beneath her bare feet. She looked down herself and noticed she was still in her pj's. No red tint can be seem on her chest; not even a wound.

She hurriedly rolled up her sleeves again and saw the mark still there, though no longer bleeding.

What the heck?

Beyond the glass walls, she saw a large door. The pinkette took a few steps towards it but halted midway.

A figure slumped on the floor caught her attention.. And not just any figure..

"S-Sasuke?!"
