Chapter 1
When love works its magic, not even fate itself can stand in its way.

It was a fine day in Konoha City and Sakura Haruno was peacefully resting under the shade of a tree near the park. It was Saturday and her apartment is just a few blocks away. Clearly, she really had nothing else better to do than read a good book on a sunny day and let the passersby wonder why she was there.
Their occasional weirded stares would make her feel uneasy but in a matter of seconds, the pinkette would brush it off and remind herself that she wasn't breathing to please anyone.
Sakura Haruno wasn't your average teenage high school girl. Well, she wasn't normal as far as normal can be defined. Not unless having visions of the future can be considered, of course.
Her emerald green eyes darted off into a distance where she spotted a couple having a fight.
The girl would attempt to walk away but unfortunately, some kid will leave his toy car on the ground, making her trip.. But of course, the guy will rush to her aid and catch her before she fell to the ground. They would stare in each others' eyes and kiss, completely forgetting about their earlier issues. Sakura sighed and averted her eyes back to her book. And in two years' time, they will get married and have a baby boy named Stephen.
"Well, thats about it." She muttered to herself and continued her reading trance.
She was used to this stuff. Seeing other people's future is like reading a book for her. A book her she can easily predict the ending. My life sucks. "Seeing the future before events can actually unfold is making me hungry." She managed to close the book again and started gathering her belongings when someone spoke.
"Who are you talking to?"
Sakura sat straight and looked around. No one. Damn.. Can she talk to ghosts now too? Oh, can things get any worse?
A soft thud interrupted her sulking thoughts and when she looked up, she had an idea things are gonna get worse.
There infront of her stood a raven-haired boy who clearly jumped down from the tree she was resting at. His jet-black locks accompanied by marvelous deep obsidian orbs contrasted his pale skin color. He was wearing a Green Day shirt and some pitch black jeans...and was staring right at her.
Sakura scoffed. "Well, surely I wasn't talking to you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some pebbles to count."
The pinkette clutched her bag and got up, but before she could even get as far as three feet, the raven-haired boy called after her,
"You're weird!"
What the heck? She spun around and glared at her. The nerve of this boy to even insult her! Well, yeah. She was used to being called "weird" all the time.. But he didn't have to point it out as if it was the most obvious thing on the planet!
"I am! Thanks for the reminder." Sarcasm laced in her tone. Sakura only got infuriated more when the guy chuckled at her reddened face. She squinted her eyes, trying to get a glimpse of what this bastard's future is. Maybe he'll get run over by a truck. That'll be hilarious. But to her amazement, she saw nothing.
Her eyes widened. What? Nothing?
"Staring is rude, honey. I'm Sasuke, by the way."
She drifted her gaze at his outstretched hand but instead of shaking it, she shook her head and turned the other way, muttering 'maybe I'm just tired. Yeah that's it.' And walked off.
Meanwhile, Sasuke Uchiha frowned at her rudeness. She seriously has some nerves to reject shaking my hand. But even so, he couldn't help but feel amused at her antics. Clearly, she wasn't like the other girls which sparked Sasuke's curiosity for her, and that's saying something.
Finally, he smirked, shoved his hands in his pockets and walked the other way.
Who knew climbing a random tree for fun would lead him into meeting an interesting pinkette?
*
Sakura Haruno met a lot of people before in the past. Yes, she was the anti-social type of girl that would literally spend half of her time reading away with books authored by J.K. Rowling or Dan Brown.. But she had a fair share of aquaintances, much to her dismay. That, and reading other students' futures became a past-time for her so it's hard not to be familiar with a face or two.
But never, ever had she been familiarized before with the face of a certain boy, smirking arrogantly beside her. Heck, she didn't even want to see him for the second time around!
"Are you stalking me?" Sakura asked, annoyed.
Sasuke raised an eyebrow at her. "Just because we've met the past weekend and I, unexpectedly, got my signal to transfer here today, means I'm stalking you. Don't flatter yourself too much, Ms. Haruno."
In that moment, Sakura almost pulled her hair out in utter frustration.
Nope, I'm positive! He's a stalker. A part of her mind argued while the other part still lingered on one thought: Why couldn't she see his future? As if on cue, their teacher, Mr. Hatake, turned to write something on the board. Which gave her the opportunity to practice her little curse. Yes, that's what she calls it.
She looked at Naruto who was sleeping two tables away from her.
In a few minutes, Sir Kakashi will throw a board eraser at him, yelling about sleeping in class again and how this generation sucks. In a week, he'll be confessing to Hinata. In a month, he will be able to manage his own ramen restaurant and within the time span of five years, Naruto Uzumaki will be the richest man who ever walked the earth, being the CEO of his own ramen-product company.
Sakura rolled her eyes. Geez, what a future this kid has! But first thing's first,
BOINK!
"Ow! Kaka-sensei, what was that for?!"
He has to be pelted with the board eraser. At this, the pink-haired girl smiled.. Completely ignoring the smoldering look Sasuke was giving her. His eyes studied her face, as if she was the most educational thing he had ever seen. And maybe, just maybe, he'd be a little more motivated to study this year. Oh, what are the chances?
The bell rang throughout the hall. Lunch break. At this, Sakura instantly got up to her feet and exited the classroom. She was timidly walking down the hall with her books when she felt someone walking beside her. At first, ignoring the person seems like the wisest thing to do, but unfortunately, Sasuke Uchiha made it a difficult task.
"Hey."
Ignore her Sakura.. Just ignore this jerk and everything will be alright.
Sasuke rolled his eyes when he got a grunt as a reply. The boy boldly grabbed her arm and made her face him. A smirk playing on his lips. The pinkette glared hard at where his hand grasped her forearm. "What?"
"You were acting strange earlier.. Smiling without a reason. Who was that blonde anyway?"
Sakura nervously freed her forearm from him and reasoned out, "None of your business, you loathsome little bastard."
That made him laugh, causing several bystanders to look their way.
"You say 'loathsome little bastard' like its a bad thing, Sakura."
She scoffed. "We're not on first name basis. Now, leave me alone!"
Sakura started walking to the direction of the school library. Leaving Sasuke behind who only stared at her back..
*
It's been one month after Sasuke's transfer and things between them weren't making any progress. Their daily routine would involve annoying each other to no end and for Sakura's part, it isn't that appealing. Turns out, the Uchiha boy really had a talent and that talent appears to be 'irritating the crap out of a certain pinkette'.
Though they never lasted a day without making the other burst, Sasuke and Sakura couldn't deny the fact that they, unexpectedly, got closer. But of course, neither of them would say that out loud or even admit it to themselves.
Everything about them screams undefined until that one fateful day at the library..
"Haruno,"
The pink-haired girl looked up from the book she was reading and lazily gazed at the boy sitting opposite of her. "If you're gonna tell me my hair looks like a bird's nest or comment on how my monthly period is getting the best of me again, then stop."
Sasuke blinked. Well, that was accurate. He mused but to his dismay, she started ignoring her again. He took in a deep breath and lightly pushed her book down, making her avert her eyes back at him for the second time around.
"If you don't have anything to say Uchiha----!"
"Ilikeyou."
Sakura Haruno blinked rapidly. What? Well, you can't blame her! Sasuke spoke too quickly which made the words sound almost like a mumble to her. She set her eyes on his reddened cheeks and wondered how was that even possible for an egotistical Uchiha? He's blushing? No, that must be an illusion. Yup, an illusion.
"D-Do you have something to say, Haruno? Come on! Don't just s-stare at me like that.."
"Err.. Uchiha, if only you spoke a little slower, I'd be more than happy to give you a piece of my mind."
At this, Sasuke Uchiha frustratedly banged his head on the table. Why is she so dense?! After a few moments, he raised his head and gave her an expressionless look, with his cheeks still tinted a shade of red, and spoke.
"I..l-like..you."
There! Oh, thank heavens they were the only ones in the library. He seriously gathered all the courage he had to say those embarrassing words! I mean, Sasuke freakin' Uchiha, confessing to a girl? That'll make it to Daily News' headline without a doubt. Flushed, he watched her process these words in her head. Sasuke could almost hear the gears turning when Sakura finally realized the meaning behind those words as if he said something extraordinary.
"O-Oh... Y-You mean.. This stuff isn't about 'friends' anymore, right?"
He shook his head, dead serious. The truth is, he's been liking her eversince. And it's hard to ignore that fact when half of the student population can read between the lines. Sasuke Uchiha likes Sakura Haruno. That's that.
"So?"
She sighed. "So what?"
"Do you like me too? Look, I know you do. I just want some confirmation or something."
"Sasuke, I-I can't..."
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Why?"
"T-There are complications... a-and.. yeah."
"Hn. Then tell me all about it. I'm sure whatever it is, it won't change the way I feel about you, Sakura."
Sakura bit her lower lip. This is the first time he called her by her first name since she banned him from doing so. Should I tell him? But her thoughts ventured back to reality when Sasuke held her hands in his. He was looking expectantly at her and it made her heart flutter a bit.
Maybe there's no harm in telling him my secret.
"S-Sasuke.." She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, "I can see other people's future."
"Well, that's amazing. Is that it?"
She opened her eyes and looked at him, shocked. "Huh?" That wasn't the reaction she was expecting from him.
Sasuke, on the other hand, shrugged and stood up, his hands still holding hers. He then leaned towards her and planted a soft kiss on her forehead before releasing her shaking hands.
"I don't really care what you can do. I like you. That's final."
He left her gaping. Dumbfounded. Sakura grunted, knowing that Sasuke didn't believe her one bit.
*
Sakura Haruno was walking down the street one Sunday afternoon. Grocery bags in hand. People were buzzing about the streets, mind their own business at which Sakura was appreciative of. Just when she was about to round a corner, someone grabbed her from behind and pulled her into a dark alley. Her grocery bags splattered on the sidewalk.
She trashed and attempted to scream but her attacker had a strong grip on her shoulders, pressing her against the cold stone wall. She glared at the man, who had a black cloak over his head.
Something wasn't right.
That was undeniable.
And just when she thought some lame kidnapper had her, the man spoke in an utterly deep and velvet voice that sent shivers running down her spine.
"In three days' time, judgement will fall upon you, the one who holds the curse of the fate.. He will kill you mercilessly. Until then, be warned: reckless actions to escape the inevitable will fall useless in the hands of time, Sakura Haruno.."
Sakura's heart was thumping wildly and her head started spinning. The guy then fetched a golden knife, and carved something on her left forearm. Sakura yelped in pain.
"SAKURA!"
Someone from a distance called her. The cloaked man released her and vanished in thin air. Sakura then fell on the floor, shivering. The last thing she got a glimpse of before unconsciousness ate her, was Sasuke Uchiha's handsome and worried face.
