Chapter 46
This is the funniest thing I've ever read. Like I nearly died laughing, no joke
So I was bored and decided to go online and look up a 'story generator' cuz I wanted to get some ideas right. So I clicked on the second one and it was one of those generator websites where you have to enter in a bunch of things (like name, how does the secondary character feel about the protagonist, name five verbs, name something fragile, name three animals, how would people describe your protagonist etc.)
So I filled them all out randomly, using Mitch and Jerome as the two characters
And just
Just
read 😂
It named the story 'The rough sword'
And I can't even rn 😂
Warnings: Mentions of death
~Preston's P.O.V.~
The structure of the Rogue kingdom looms into view, nearly everything built of cobble and stone bricks. Many of the stone bricks have murky green mould growing on them, accumulated over years of poor maintenance. Of the hundreds of fighters standing behind me, no one speaks a word. Everyone knows what to do. Everyone knows why they're here. And everyone knows this is where it all ends. This war that's been going on for twenty-seven, going on twenty-eight, long, gruesome, violent, years.
Looking back I realize none of this would have ever been possible had Rob not saved my life. When I first proposed to do this, at first I was doing it for myself. I wanted out of the Rogue kingdom so badly, that I'd do anything to get Rob to help me out. But after all that's passed, after everything we've done, now there's truth behind the words. And now here I am, hundreds of warriors from five different kingdoms behind me, storming in to finish it once and for all. Rage boils inside me at Roxanne, for kidnapping my frie-no. My family. And knowing her, she's probably torturing them as well. I promised myself I would never kill anyone unless absolutely necessary. Today I think I can make an exception of it comes to it.
Letting out a furious cry, I charge forward, hundreds of voices behind me echoing that cry and rising like a tidal wave. Seeing the huge wave of people swarming towards them, the guards at the gate flee in terror, shouting warnings. We pass through the gates with ease, and it's from there the battle begins. Everyone fans out, people from the Spell, Dimensional, Mutant, Royal, and Hidden kingdoms spreading out to engage our foes. I make a straight line for the castle, Warriors clearing a path for me as I charge my way through, skin bubbling in heat and repelling anyone within six blocks of me. Behind me I have two Knights from the Royal kingdom, who go by the name of Jordan and Taylor. The two men are both close with Mitch, and enthusiastically offered to come with me to confront Roxanne, both also wanting their revenge against her for imprisoning their King.
Out of the corner of my eye I watch as a quarter of us breaks off to the side, towards the dungeon. Lead by Enderlox, WitherMU, Skybrine, Ian and his pet dragon, Seto and his friends, And a mutant named Quentin, their job is to rescue Rob, Jerome, Mitch, Lachlan, and Vikk and bring them to me. And with a team like theirs, along with a large sum of warriors, I have a hard time believing they'd fail. Recognizing who I am, a foolish Rogue warrior tries to step out and intercept me. Bad move, as soon his clothing bursts into a blazing inferno of flames, and he runs off wailing in agony trying to find water. Seeing the fate of their comrade, the guards protecting the entrance to the castle dive out of the way, unwilling to get anywhere near me.
And it's the same for anyone else that tries to stand in my way as myself, Taylor, and Jordan storm though the halls, making our way quickly to the throne room. Either they stand their ground and fall victim to my fire, or they make the smart decision and step aside. As anger continues to bubble inside me, threatening to explode, I feel my skin heat up even further. Soon droplets of lava drip off my skin, leaving a smoking trail behind. Taylor and Jordan dodge around the boiling pools. A final turn and we come to a skidding stop in front of the doorway leading to the throne room. No doors stand in the entrance, instead a large archway bares entrance to the throne room; a large, flat, undecorated square room with a simply throne in the middle, and an open roof.
"Ah Preston. I was wondering when you'd show up. Though I must say I'm surprised with all the backup you've brought. How did you ever manage that? I guess it's doesn't matter." Roxanne greets, a stupidly fake smile plastered on her face as she stands from her throne, arms spread.
Roxanne is a beast of a woman, with short hair, muscular everything, and a firm jaw. She wears long cargo pants and a tank top, old and new scars littering almost every part of her body. The most prominent scar is a large one crossing over her right eye, which is glazed and the pupil white. There's a hiss as lava drops from my skin onto the floor, steam rising as it burns through the stone.
"Give it up Roxanne. You're outnumbered by hundreds, and you're kingdom will fall if you don't surrender, and give me the ownership."
She gazes at me calmly, a smirk on her face. "Oh but Preston, wouldn't you rather challenge me? I think given the circumstances, you may want to reconsider and accept, rather than continue on how you are."
I glare suspiciously at her. "What are you talking about?"
She smiles deviously. "Well if my best friends were in mortal danger, I'd listen to what I have to say, too."
Panic shoots through me. "What are you doing to them?!"
"Oh... Nothing much...."
I scowl. "It doesn't matter! I have some of the strongest people alive going to rescue them. So surrender, or you leave me no choice but to kill you!"
She turns to me, face suddenly serious. "What if I told you, that within a second, I could have them killed. There is no way your friends will be able to save them, they'll see the deadly trap. So here's the deal. Keep this up, and I'll kill your friends. Challenge me, and they have a chance of surviving. Capiche?"
I glare at her, my lips pressed into a thin line. She could be lying, but I can't risk their lives. Not now.
"Don't do it Preston." Taylor whispers urgently.
Jordan nods several times. "She's trying to trick you."
I glance at them. "I'm not risking my friends lives." I turn to Roxanne. "Fine. Roxanne, I challenge you for the ownership of this kingdom. What is the challenge."
She smiles widely, eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. "Wise choice Preston. The rules are simple. It's a fight to the finish; a battle to the death. The only one who leaves is the last one left."
"PRESTON NO!"
Jordan, Taylor, and I jump back at the shout, accompanied by a mighty roar. Roxanne turns calmly, a maniacal grin on her face as Enderlox, WitherMU, and Ian with his Enderdragon swoop through the open roof, carrying Rob, Mitch, Jerome, Lachlan, and Vikk. My eyes widen, and my mouth gapes open. Only to be quickly shut, anger fuming inside me.
"You were bluffing! And what did you do to Rob?!" I shriek, pointing at the large gash on his face.
"I didn't to anything. He brought that upon himself. And yes, I was bluffing. But I'm not leader of the Rogue kingdom for nothing, darling." She sneers.
"Surrender Roxanne. We've killed or captured almost your entire kingdom, save a few who fled." Jason hisses as he and Ty revert back to their normal forms, Ty panting heavily.
"You're to late!" She yells victoriously. "Preston's already challenged me."
