Confrontation

Schlatt POV

It feels good. I've finally gotten revenge on the man who ruined my life. I thought I would have it all once I took over Manburg, only for it all to be gone, thanks to Wilbur.

I wonder what happened to him, if he's here. Does this mean he's dead too? If so, how did it happen?
What has come of Manburg, what could those scums have done in my absence.

My old chums too, what would they be doing? Tubbo is probably running Manburg. He better not have ruined it.

I wonder what Flatty Patty's up to, probably getting drunk. Geez, I could honestly go for a drink myself. I don't think they have anything good here, though. Maybe Ren and Doc had something...

I yawn, getting revenge on your enemies is tiring. I'm betting that Wilbur got killed by something stupid, like a falling anvil or something.

I pick up a book that I now notice is on the ground. When I look at the title I am instantly drawn in. "Members of the Dream SMP", the title read.

This must have been something Wilbur had put together. I open the book. Let's see the horrible things he wrote on me.

I skim through the book, looking for my section. While flipping through the pages I see a big picture of the L'manburg flag.

I stop on that page, eager to know what has since happened to my dear country. Since Wilbur died after me he would have insight as to what happened.

I skate through the parts where Wilbur ruled over the nation and get to my part. The first thing I noticed was that there was no Manburg flag. Seriously dude?!

Blah blah blah Schlatt ruined the nation blah blah blah. This man was just salty because I beat him, fair and square.

Then there I was, the Manburg festival. I skimmed through everything I already knew, fighting, and then my death. He even managed to get my final words in there! Flatty Patty, to Quackity.

Then after... Wilbur made a speech giving Tommy the presidency, and Tommy rejected it. Then Wilbur gave it to Tubbo, okay. Then Technoblade started killing everyone... okay, fine. That's completely normal for Technoblade, he is an anarchist.
Then... Philza logged on. I have no idea who that is, but according to this he's Wilbur's father. Wilbur then... pushed a button?! Come on! Mysterious missing father appears and the climax is that he pushes a button?! Boring.

Wait..then Wilbur quoted Eret, saying their iconic line, "It was never meant to be." Then the button he pressed BLEW UP MANBURG WHAT?!?!?!?!?

THAT SCUM BLEW UP MY NATION?!?!?! THEN HIS FATHER COMMITTED ASSISTED SUICIDE FOR HIM AND THAT'S HOW HE DIED?!?! Fine, if he can do that then I'll just have to make him suffer for it.

Forever.

Wilbur POV

"Where did you last see Schlatt?" Xisuma asked urgently. "We can sort out this problem quickly if we find him."

I sigh. I really don't want to talk to Schlatt. It's only a matter of time until he finds out about L'manburg's fate, and I don't want to face him once he knows.

"I saw him by that bench," I say, pointing to where I was sitting with Pearl. "But he could also be by that pole," I said. "One of those goats has his name on it."

Xisuma puzzled for a moment. "Well what pole? Who built it?"

I shrug. "I have no idea, can't tell you myself."

"Well Wilbur," Xisuma said. "I suppose you should tell me a bit about this Schlatt character. You mentioned that he exiled you and took over your country?"

This is where we get into the awkward part, Schlatt's reign over Manburg and... his relationship with Quackity...

I take a deep breath in. "Okay Xisuma, but promise me you won't overreact."

Xisuma nods. "Fine, just tell me."

"Schlatt took over my nation in a democratic vote. He combined his votes with his partner's... Quackity. Then Schlatt exiled me, and my brother. He... became an alcoholic, and abusive to Quackity."

Xisuma cringed at this. "I'm sorry, that's just... horrible."

"It's fine," I said. "Quackity and I aren't really even friends, but it's just horrible... His last words were 'Flatty Patty', which was his 'nickname' for Quackity. It's one of Quackity's triggers, so it hurt him a lot. Well anyways, then he died from a heart attack, and all is well!"

Xisuma looked uncomfortable at my last sentence."Not really, Wilbur. Anyways, where is this pole? Is it the Boatem Pole?"

"It's called the 'Goatem Pole', it said on a sign. It's on a little island off the coast," I said, pointing to it. Interesting, there were two people standing there, though I couldn't see who they were.

Xisuma swerved towards the Goatem Pole, starting to descend from the air. "Well it looks like we've found our builders," he said frustratedly, looking at two figures by the pole.

"Well, uh," I say. "Who are they?"

Xisuma sighed. "Docm77 and Rendog. They're good guys, but they probably don't realize who they've really taken in."

We land on the island, and Xisuma lets go of me, letting me sit down and rest my legs. I will never get used to flying, I think.

Docm77 and Rendog turned around, facing us. Docm77 was a half creeper and half some sort of robot, it seemed. He was wearing a pair of sunglasses that had different lenses for the different parts of his face. Rendog was a normal human with a pair of blue sunglasses, cool. Noticeably, it kind of looked like he had a mullet.

They looked surprised to see Xisuma, and just as confused as to who I was.

"Uh, hey Xisuma," Doc said nervously. "What's up?"

Xisuma sighed. It seemed he was as tired of this as I was. "Doc, where is Schlatt?"

Their eyes widened, shocked that Xisuma knew about Schlatt, I guess.
"W-who is t-that?" Rendog asked. "I-I've never heard of anyone named that, right Doc?" He said, turning to Doc.

"Don't lie to me, Ren," Xisuma said tiredly. "I've got eyewitness proof that you took him in, just tell me."

"Yeah, me," I interject. "I know Schlatt, and he's not who you think he is, trust me."

"Who are you?" Ren asked. "You're not a Hermit, where'd you come from?"

I smile sadly. "The same place as Schlatt. Like I told you, I know him. Jschlatt, normal human in a suit, red tie."

I could see the layer of secrets melting off of their faces as I described Schlatt. All I had needed to do was prove to them that I was real.

"Fine, you got us," Doc said, annoyed. "We took in Schlatt, but why does it matter? We were just being good people, taking in a random man wandering through the village. Not to mention that he seemed pretty out of it."

Xisuma looked at them sternly. "So you just found someone random and just took him in, and you didn't even try to find out anything about him?! You didn't even consider that he could actually be a drunk, abusive, and tyrannical man?!"

They looked horrified at that. "Is that really who he is?" Doc asked. "And where and when in Hermitcraft did that happen?"

"Well," I said. "That is really who he is. For the other question... that's a bit more complicated."

Ren bit his lip, as if he had something to say. I looked at him, puzzled. He looked right back at me, nervous to say whatever he had on his mind.
"You can ask it," I said to him, assuringly.

Ren took a deep breath before speaking. "I hope this isn't intrusive," he said awkwardly. "But were you the one he abused?"

"No," I said firmly. "It was not me, but I can tell you that his abuse was so bad that his nickname for his partner was one of his partner's triggers."

He cringed at that, it was a truly awkward topic to have to talk about.

"So," Xisuma said, breaking the silence. "Doc, Ren, this is Wilbur. He showed up here a bit after Schlatt did. Basically he's from another world, and the only reason he's here is because he's dead."

"What. The. Heck," Ren said, he was clearly shocked. "So you're telling us that we picked up a random stranger who happened to be from another world?! Wait, another world?! There's another world?!"

"Ya," I chimed in. "Schlatt kind of took over my nation and exiled me and my brother. Then I came back in and won it back, but then I died. There was also an anarchist pig man somewhere in there."

Everyone stared at me, faces blank. It was probably because of my mention of Technoblade. I guess I put it pretty weirdly. "But yes, I am indeed from another world."

Ren and Doc looked at each other seriously, as if they were communicating by telepathy. "Xisuma, do you know where Schlatt is?" Doc asked. "We should probably find him and talk to him."

Xisuma sighed again. "That's what we were coming to ask you about, so I'll take that as you don't know where he is?"

He nodded, looking slightly embarrassed.

I smiled a bit. Ever since I got here things have been going from great to horrible back to great and on and on. It was always nice to meet someone new, and Doc and Ren seemed like good people.

"Well," Xisuma said impatiently. "What are we waiting for? We kind of have a crazy drunk and abusive man to catch!"

Grian POV

Well I guess Xisuma just... flew out of here. Taking Wilbur with him, no less. Great, now I'm standing here alone. I wonder what Wilbur had to tell me before Xisuma came in... He'll probably tell me later.

I walk out of my starter base, I should probably work a bit on Midnight Alley. Maybe I'll add a few more shops, maybe a pet store reflecting the Magical Menagerie! I could totally capture some llamas or glow squid to sell. Though I don't know how Pearl would feel if I sold llamas, but I'll worry about that later.

The moon is starting to come out now, that's how I know it's about midday. The moon is so big that we can literally see it during the middle of the day now.

"Hey Grian!" I heard a voice call. Turning, I saw that it was Mumbo. "Now that the moon is coming out I'm going to measure it in my observatory, you want to come?"

"Sure Mumbo," I said, jumping in to the sky. He then flew off into the sky, and I followed him. We landed on his mountain, right in front of his copper observatory.

He entered it, leading me in. The moon wasn't in the actual sky yet, so we had some waiting to do. "So Mumbo," I said. "What's up?"

"Pearl," he said. "Pearl is having some... problems." He looked like he was about to cry. "She's broken, Grian. Wilbur broke her, with the truth."

"Well what's the truth?" I asked Mumbo. "Did Pearl tell you what he said?"
Anything hard for Pearl could either be the smallest and least relevant thing ever, or it's a really big matter. Pearl can either be really fragile or really strong.

"So you know how Wilbur told us he was killed protecting his nation? The truth is, he blew up his nation and then asked his father to kill him..." his voice trailed off.

"And what happened?" I asked "What did his father do?"

"His father did it, Grian. His father killed him," Mumbo said. "Wilbur committed assisted suicide, from his father."

That was a lot of information to take in. I take a deep breath in, closing my eyes.

"You okay Grian?" Mumbo asked, concerned. "It's a lot, right?"

"I can't believe he was telling the truth," I muttered. "I thought he was just going crazy."

"You knew?!" Mumbo asked, shocked. "How did you find out? Did Wilbur tell you?"

I swallowed, remembering the moment he told me. "It was right when I met him," I said. "He was really shocked, he still thought he was in his own world. He said it as a threat, he was almost boasting it."

The ground shook again. Mumbo turned to me sadly. "Hermitcraft really has been on a downhill, hasn't it Grian? First we got a psychotic stranger-"

"Well actually, not exactly," I said, interrupting him. Mumbo was annoyed but patient.
"What is it?" He asked.
"So," I said. "Long story short, another man from Wilbur's world died before him and is apparently also here, he's also pretty psychotic, from what I've heard."

Mumbo stared at me, with his jaw dropped.

A bright light then flashed through my eyes. The moon was out now.

"Quick Grian!" Mumbo said tensely. "Align yourself and measure it!"

I stood on top of the correct block and looked up. "Uh, Mumbo," I said, worried at what I was seeing. "The moon is going past the glass."

Mumbo pushed me aside, looking up. "Grian," he said worriedly. He looked at me straight in the eyes. With a rare show of emotion, a tear dripped from his face. "I don't think we have much longer."
