Reaper's P.O.V
Reaper sat at the edge of a tall building, watching the sun set. His tail flicked lazily as he watched people move around below him. They looked like ants from up here. His ears were hidden by his hood so others weren't able to see them.
A small hum escaped from his mouth. It was a old melody his mother used to sing to him when he was still a baby bone. She died when Papyrus was born, and somehow Reaper and Papyrus were separated when they were still young. Now, Reaper was all alone. The darkness was his only company.
Darkness was like his only friend. It would welcome him with open arms. It never leaves. It seems to follow him everywhere. It was like his own little world.
It's not as bad as it sounds. That is if you liked being alone. And being alone is Reaper's thing. But sometimes Reaper wished he had somebody by his side. It would be nice, but it was just a thought.
Soon, the sun disappeared and the stars started coming out. The city lights turned on, keeping the place bright. The various colors shined brightly in the dark.
Smiling sadly to himself, Reaper glanced up at the stars. He knew the legend. If you wished with all of your heart, your wish would come true. Reaper had never tired it before, so he didn't know if it was true or not. But tonight felt like the time.
"I wish I had somebody with me," Reaper whispered quietly, pouring out his heart. The breeze flew by gently, like soft hands touching his face. Just like how his mother would to comfort him.
Pushing away the sad memories, Reaper stood up and went home. When he pulled off his hood, his ear perked up. Probably tired of being flattened all day. Nekos weren't very common in the city. And that means there's only about a handful of nekos and the rest are people or monsters. So walking around with ears and a tail is pretty awkward.
Reaper wasn't exactly sure how a skeleton can be a neko, but he went with it. There wasn't anything he could do anyways. Once he closed his eyes, darkness washed over him faster then the ocean waves.
And just like every night, he slept without dreams.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into a month. Reaper was starting to doubt that his wish would come true. And with each passing day, he would loose more hope.
Hope was funny, in a way. It could make you strong and help you push forwards, or it could be completely taken away and leave you broken.
Reaper haven't cut for weeks. Almost a month clean. That was a new record. Everyday, the urge to cut was almost overwhelming but he somehow always found a way to avoid it. But cutting himself once won't hurt, right?
~Self-harm Starts~
Finally, Reaper decided to give up and feed the darkness a bit more. Grabbing a small blade, he sat in the bathroom. He rolled up his sleeve, and revealed all of his scars from the past cuts. Thankfully, he wore a cloak to covers his entire body so nobody could see his scars. Even if someone saw his scars, why would they care? He would be a complete stranger. In addition, nekos appeared to be 'attention freaks.'
Taking a deep breath, Reaper slowly ran the blade down his arm. A small smiled appeared when blood started to run down his arm. Watching his blood reminded him that he was a living being, not a ghost. All of his sorrows and depression was lifted away and replaced with relief. Everything was going to be okay.
Reaper repeated the process a few times. He almost felt happy. He almost forgot what it felt like to cut himself. It felt so good, like walking back home after a long day and being welcomed back by your loving family. And of course, Reaper had lost that family.
Of course, that welcoming sense of relief didn't last long. After a few minutes, the relief faded away and left him feeling empty once again. His sorrows returned, and his heart blackened all over again.
~Self-harm Ends~
After Reaper had gone back to cutting, he have been doing it more frequently. Cutting was like a drug, only worse. All it took was one cut to start an addiction. He was eating less, and staying up at night.
His mind was a mess.
And now his body.
Reaper sat on the rooftop again, watching the sun slowly rise. Its's tip was barely visible. He couldn't sleep, so he decided to watch the sun rise.
His tail flicked back and forth over the edge. He listened to the non-stop activity going on in the city. Cars running, people talking, businesses at work, the usual.
Soon, the sun's rays washed over the city like a blanket. The once black sky brightened into a soft shade of blue.
His soul ached when he remembered the times when his mother would take them to watch the sun. Without thinking, Reaper brought out his blade. The sunlight reflected off the small blade that was slightly stained red.
Tears threatened to spill when Reaper rolled up his sleeve. Biting his lip, he was about to cut himself when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Flinching at the sudden contact, Reaper glanced up and found a skeleton with a red scarf.
Reaper quickly rolled down his sleeve to hide his scars but the skeleton already saw them.
"Y-You saw nothing," Reaper growled, looking at the ground. "You think those are scars? They're fake. They're for attention, so don't bother. Nekos are suppose to seek attention anyway."
"If they're fake, why is the blade stained red?" They asked, rising a non-extent eyebrow. "You know, cutting yourself isn't the answer to all of your problems. It brings nothing but ugly scars."
Reaper gave a dry laugh. "Oh yeah? Then what do you suggest I do?"
They sat next to him, and gently took the blade away. "Well, talk to somebody. The pain won't go away if you keep it all to yourself."
"I have nobody," Reaper replied sharply. Expect for my blade. "Now go away." Please don't leave me here alone.
They shook their head. "Nope, I'm staying. And since your now stuck with me, just call me Geno."
For some reason the tears Reaper was holding back decided to fall. "Why do you care? I'm nothing but a stranger that lost the war with myself."
Geno gave a small smile and gently wiped Reaper's tears away, just like how his mother would. "Because I knew somebody that cuts themselves, and they couldn't handle the pain anymore so they killed themselves. I don't want that to happen to you."
"I'm fine," Reaper lied, hoping Geno would go away and leave him to suffer alone. I'm not okay. "I don't need anyone." Please... take the pain away.
Geno saw through the lie easily and pulled Reaper in for a hug. Reaper stiffened, but soon melted into the hug and cried in Geno's chest. Geno rubbed Reaper's back comfortingly, whispering that everything will work out.
"Come on buddy," Geno murmured softly. "Let's get you home."
Maybe Reaper's wish came true after all.
...
When Geno found Reaper holding his scythe that night he freaked out and though Reaper was going to stab himself, when Reaper was just putting it away. Months later and Reaper had given up on cutting and Geno visits Reaper often and makes sure he's okay.
Ever since Geno came into Reaper's life, everything was getting better. Reaper was more confident and outgoing. But at the same time he grew feelings for Geno. Strong feelings.
Right now Geno was waiting in the living room while Reaper was getting dressed. While he was digging around, he found small razors that he didn't even know he had. He just added them to the collection of 'Random Blades/Razors I Didn't Know I Had.'
Suddenly the door slammed open. "Reaper the pizza guy is here where's the money?"
Reaper looked away from the cloak he was holding and blushed a bright blue. Reaper was still shirtless, and his slightly scarred ribs were exposed. Geno blushed even more and just stared.
"See something you like~?" Reaper smirked. Geno's blush darkened and he slammed the door closed. Outside of the room, Reaper heard muffled screaming.
Reaper was tempted to walk out without a shirt but then he went against it. After he put on his cloak, he found Geno sitting on the couch. His entire face was blue and on the table was the pizza box.
Reaper chuckled and poked Geno on the cheek. "Come on, they're just ribs~"
Geno jumped and blushed even more. "S-Shut up!"
"Aww, is Geno embarrassed~?" Reaper teased.
"Yes! I am!" Geno cried, hiding his face. "It's not everyday I see my crush shirtless!"
Reaper froze and blushed slightly. "C-Crush?"
Geno looked up and looked at Reaper as if his shirt disappeared. "UHH- LET'S JUST GO EAT PIZZA, YEAH?"
"Of course." Reaper replied. "But first..." Reaper grabbed Geno face and placed a kiss on his head. Geno blushed so much, Reaper could almost feel the heat coming off his face.
Reaper winked, and teasingly flicked his tail in Geno's face. "I love you to~"
