Chapter 6: War

Third POV.

The place was destroyed. The rainless storm goes on. Almost half of the forest was dead. And debris and craters littered the forest ground.

Death stared down at his mess from the sky. He was levitating high above the forest trees. Its hasn't even five minutes yet and look at the damage he had done.

And he regretted none of it. They deserve it. They killed him. So he's going to kill them.

The barrier was still up and Life was still there. Asgore had stepped out after reaping Geno's soul.

Death growled at the thought. He watched as Asgore, Undyine and Papyrus got back on their feet. A few reapers from under Undyine's command had come but quickly taken out.

Then suddenly, a childish laughter rang out the whole place. Everyone perked up and tried to locate where it was coming from. The childish laughter morphed into demonic.

Realization dawned on them. Just as then, Reaper!Chara materialized behind Death.

"That's right, Death. Kill them all." Chara said.

Death didn't even turned around nor he did care. Geno is dead and nothing matters anymore. And he wasn't against the idea of killing them all.

"Death, don't listen to them!!" Asgore shouted from down below.

"They killed him. And now he's all gone" Chara said in obviously fake sympathy. Like she was mocking Death.

Death's eye sockets darkened even more. The wind picked up again and blew past them all. Blowing their cloaks as thunder rolled but not as loud as before. Like it was giving a warning.

"They're trying to trick you!! Geno is not dead!!" Asgore shouted again.

Death felt his soul leaped when he heard that but he knew better. Death saw Geno turned to dust right in front of him. Tears formed on the brim of his eye socket but he refused to let it fall. Instead he bowed his head to hide his face.

"Pfft... Ahahaha!!! I'm trying to trick you?! You hear what he's saying? He said Geno is alive? AHAHA!! What a load bull crap! He's dead!! Isn't he, Death?" Chara said as they held their stomach as they laughed.

Death shifted his gaze toward the small dome barrier. Life was in there the whole time. There's light coming from the bed. What's she doing? Death thought.

"Hey, you there?" Chara nonchalantly said as they perked over Death shoulder but not touching him.

Suddenly, something knocked Chara down and they fall from the sky impossibly fast. They hit the ground with a loud crash and dust cloud exploded their perimeter.

Death stared in awe before looking behind him. Asgore was there, levitating behind him, with his scythe.

"Death, listen, this is all just a misunderstanding-" Asgore was cut off when Death snapped.

"What is it that I don't understand?! You killed Geno!! Right in front of me!!" Death screamed.

Undyine and Papyrus had gathered enough strength and went to apprehend Chara who was barely conscious but still fighting.

"He must die-!!" Asgore began but didn't get to finish.

"I don't CARE about your f*cking rules!! He's not a threat yet you still killed him!! He's helpless-"

"Its not about the rules!! It is what must be done to help him"

"HE'S GONE!!!" Death screamed as tears finally falls down his face. "AND ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!"

"Death, he's not gone." Asgore began, more calmly and sympathetic this time. His voice soft and gentle.

"Stop feeding me lies!!" Death said, his voice sounded exhausted and completely devastated as he held back his sobs.

Geno is gone. Forever. He might as well be gone too.

Death raised his scythe and brought it near his neck. Who says reapers don't die?

Asgore's eyes widened in horror at what Death was planning. "No! Death!! Don't!!!" The king almost shouted as he reached out a hand but afraid to come any closer.

"Why shouldn't I ?!?!" Death shouted back. Tears still falling from his face.

"Because Geno is waiting for you!!" Asgore said.

"GENO IS GONE!! HE WILL NEVER BE REINCARNATED BECAUSE HE'S GONE FROM EXISTENCE!!!" Death screamed and raised his scythe. He closed his eye sockets firmly and sliced his own neck.

Clang.

The sound of metal against metal rang out. Death snapped his eye sockets opened and found his scythe gone from his hold. It was falling from the sky but disappeared before it hit the ground.

Death looked up to find Asgore with his scythe raised. Then it clicked. Asgore had deflected his scythe. He prevented him from killing himself. He stopped his suicide.

It made him mad. Why? What wrong with him? Anger build up inside him once again. Why?

"WHY WON'T YOU LET ME BE HAPPY?!?! WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LET ME DIE AND BE OUT OF MY MISERY?!?! DO YOU LOVE SEEING ME SUFFER TOO?? IS THAT IT??" Death continues to screamed as he sobbed.

"I KNEW IT!! YOU HATE ME!! THEN MAYBE YOU'D BE GLAD TO KILL ME!!!" Death raised his arms to his side. Showing Asgore that he wouldn't fight back.

"Death, its not-"

"GO ON!!! KILL ME!!! And we both can be happy..." Death was sobbing again.

******okay, you're good*****

Asgore wanted to hug him. They were best friend after all. But with Death's current state of mind...

Asgore opened his mouth to say something but someone beat him to it.

"DEATH!!" A familiar female voice echoed and Death glace down at the direction. He instantly noticed the lack of barrier in his sight.

Replaced by the sight of Life with a bundle of bloody mess in her arms. Death squinted to get a better look and subconsciously levitated closer.

Death could make out a small figure drenched in crimson, black shorts and red scarf-

Death quickly flew down without even letting his thought finished. He didn't need to. But at the same time he wasn't sure. He didn't want to believe but something was urging him.

His soul raced as he landed and immediately ran the rest of the way. As soon as he got closer to Life, relief and pure joy swelled inside him that he started crying again.

Its Geno. He's alive. Geno is alive! Death chanted in his head.

He quickly but gently took Geno from Life's arms and hugged him firmly as he sobbed. He couldn't describe how relieved and grateful and blessed he felt as he sunk down the ground.

Life backed away to give them privacy.

Death briefly pulled away and inspected Geno. He was still unconscious but at least he's alive. The glitches over his right eye was gone and his skull is not melting. Death lifted Geno's bloody shirt and found his bones were completely healed. No scars or scratches or crack. Its like Geno was a new born baby.

He pulled the bloody shirt back down and summoned Geno's soul and he gasped at the sight. He expected the soul to be a shard. But instead its a whole soul. Burning bright blue. The same exact hue that Geno's soul always had.

Death placed the soul back and caressed Geno's face. He still couldn't believe that Geno is alive and in his arms right now. He hugged Geno once again and rocked them back and forth as he sobbed.

"NO!! THIS WASN'T HOW IT SHOULD BE!!! YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO KILL THEM!!!!" Chara shouted in the background as they were held back by Undyine while Papyrus holding their scythe. Death just ignored them. Or he just couldn't hear them because he was in utter bliss.

Asgore raised his scythe to Chara's neck and they immediately went silent. "So you were behind all of this" the king concluded. He ordered Undyine to take them away and be ready for interrogation.

"Tori?"

Life perked down when she heard Death called her name quietly. She knelt down in front of him. "Yes?" she inquired.

*sob* "I'm sorry" Death apologized but he kept his head down. He didn't know how he could ever face Life again. Not after all those things he said. "I'm really really sorry" he felt so ashamed of himself.

Life signed in understanding as her expression soften and she smiled warmly. She reached out and lifted Death's face so they were eye to eye.

"I understand. We knew this would happen." Life said gently.

*sniff* "I should've listened. I'm really sorry." *sob*

Life shushed him and wrapped her arms around Death. Rubbing soothing circles on his back. But it only made Death cried more as he subconsciously tighten his hold on Geno.

"C-can -hic- can you ev-ever forgive me?"

"Of course. And I assure you everyone also does. Everything's okay now." Life soothed.

Death burst into tears when he heard Life's last word.

"You should take him home. We'll handle everything from here." Life said after pulling away.

Death nodded. This time, he'll listened to Life. He stood up and teleported away with Geno safely tucked in his arms.
