I crumpled to my knees as the seven plus Calypso come in. I hear a gasp and a thump of another body hitting the floor. Green mist swirls around me and I gulped, knowing what is about to happen.
"The son of the sun
Will go on a quest
To save what's important
And is put to the test
One will survive
Or two, it depends
On the choices that are made
When he reaches journey's end."
There's a groan and Rachel Elizabeth Dare sits up groggily. Tears pour down my face as I realize what must be done. My first quest is to save my boyfriend, or fail. My mind is all over the place, and I can't think straight. To many things were swirling around my brain. Leo is the first to break the silence. "What just happened?" "Nico, taken, Eurynomos, kiss, bye bye!!" I giggle. "Move!" Chiron's voice is heard even over the shouts of everyone, but to me, it sounds muffled, like I have my hands over my ears. Oh wait, I do! OOPS!! I remove my hands, but don't get up from the floor. An isle is formed and Chiron clops forward a look of gloom on his face. I keep giggling and spouting out random things. "Child," He whispers, bending his front legs so he's kneeling beside me. I look up at him blinking. "Poof!" I laugh. Chiron sighs and stands back up. "EVERYONE WHO IS NOT ONE OF THE SEVEN, CALYPSO and obviously Will, GO BACK TO YOUR CABINS AND STAY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!" Shouts and complaints are heard, but eventually everyone leaves. "Mr. D!" Chiron shouts, before the god can escape. "What? You didn't say my name." I giggle, and mimic him. "My name! Nico, bye bye!!" I start to rock, knees tucked under my chin as I continue to laugh. Mr. D sighed and rolled his eyes. He snaps his fingers and I immediately stop giggling and uncurled from my position. I blink confused, and look up at Chiron innocently.
"Will, can you please tell us what happened?" We were all sitting in Nico's infirmary room, I was on the bed, Chiron was kneeling in the doorway in his horse form, Percy was in the chair with Annabeth on his lap and everyone else was on the floor with their girlfriends' in their lap. Mr. D was long gone. I recounted what happened, editing out both kisses. (And how Eurynomos called me cute). Chiron seemed disturbed when I mentioned Eurynomos, but no one else had ever heard of her. Not even Annabeth. "She called herself the 'daemon of rotting corpses.' " Chiron took a deep breath. "She didn't call herself that Will. That is who she is." Chiron took a deep breath as we looked up at him expectantly. "She was said to eat off the flesh of corpses, leaving only bones." I paled. If she kills Nico. . . . I shuddered and Chiron continued. "Now the prophecy talks of a son of the sun.-" "It's me!" I interrupted. "I have to go." All eyes focused on me. I gulped, but continued speaking, my voice shaking. "I-I, want to do it alone." My friends faces were surprised. Then Annabeth nodded. "We'll help you partially, then you can go on your own." She glanced around, silently daring someone to argue with her. Not even Chiron spoke up. Instead he cleared his throat and spoke, grimly. "Very well. Take as much time as you need and good luck." We all left the infirmary and since we had missed dinner, I stumbled drunkenly to Nico's cabin, tears blinding me so I stumbled into the door. Hazel and Frank came up behind me and Frank opened the door, since Hazel wasn't any better than me. I fell to my knees and crawled over to Nico's bed, where I climbed onto it. I snuggled under the gray, black and white checkered comforter and breathed in Nico's pomegranate smell, tears staining the sheets. I cried myself to sleep, Hazel's whimpers harmonizing with mine. I didn't leave the cabin the next day and neither did Hazel. I knew I should be packing for the quest. But I couldn't. I just couldn't bring myself to get out of the dam bed! Hazel and Frank had been coming for a visit, same with Rachel and they happened to be here during this. . . . time. . . . I didn't eat all day, just staying huddled up in Nico's bed. I had cried myself out of tears and my chest throbbed from the dry sobs.
