Chapter 3 - Hogwarts Letter

That night it rained. Molly insisted Lee spent the night at the Burrow. He slept on Ron's bed because the couch would be very uncomfortable in his conditions.

Next morning everyone had already come down for breakfast before Harry, Ron and Lee. George's head snapped around when he heard Lee's voice say "Good morning." Then he turned to Molly and said "you let him spend the night??"

"I don't see why not. You and Fred need to sort things out." Molly said, adding three more plates to the table. "Fred dear, talk some sense into George." She added to George.

George stared. He did not realise that Molly was in denial. She would often talk to George as both twins. George was so busy wallowing in his own misery that he didn't notice before. He looked around the room in surprise. Arthur who was eating his bacon opposite George, nodded sadly.

"She is been like this since the Funeral." Arthur said, quietly while Molly went back to the kitchen for more bacon.

"Lee dear, draw up a chair and join us." Molly said kindly, holding a plate full of bacon and eggs.

Lee limped forward and waved his wand for a chair. George looked at him up and down. His expression softened after he saw Lee limping because of his twisted leg.

George swallowed a bite with great difficulty before asking Lee "What happened your leg?"

"A curse hit me from behind. Blacked out from the pain and lost track of everything." Lee said.

"And St Mungos couldn't help?" George asked surprised.

"No, I spent weeks in the hospital getting my leg straightened out, but it would only twist again. They think it's irreversible." Lee added sadly.

They ended the meal in silence. Then Arthur went up to Ginny and said "Do you want me to stay home? Keep an eye on Mum?"

"No dad, you need to go to work. Harry, Ron and I can manage. I think Hermione is joining us after lunch." Ginny said.

Soon Arthur, Percy and Charlie left for work. The others left George and Lee sitting in the dining room in uncomfortable silence.

"What do we do if they decide to kill each other?" Asked Ron.

"It's not funny Ron!" Ginny snapped. "This has to work, it's our only chance."

"Yea rite, you just want to go fly off and become a quidditch star." Ron said, rolling his eyes. There was a moment of silence because Ron dint realise Molly was behind him.

All eyes were on Molly. Realising what happened Ron turned to look at his mother, wide eyed.

Molly looked at Ginny, tears in her eyes. "Quidditch star?" She said.

"I - They chose me to tryout for the Holyhead Harpies." Ginny said, nervously.

Molly ran to Ginny and pulled her into a giant bear hug. "I'm so proud of you darling!" She sobbed.

"C-can't breath m-mum." Ginny gasped, pulling away. Everyone one else laughed in relief and joined in the hug.

Suddenly somebody cleared their throat at the door. It was George.

"Lee is leaving now." He announced.

Wiping her eyes, Molly said "but George dear, wouldn't it be better-"

"No mum. It's fine. Lee just needs to sort things out before moving into the flat above the shop. We agreed it would be easier, because of his leg." George said.

"I thought you dint want anyone living there?" Harry said. Ron elbowed him in the ribs.

"I don't know how to live without Fred. But I know I cannot live like this. Not anymore." George said.
"I want to help make people laugh again." He added looking at Lee, who stood by him quietly.

"Fred will be back soon, George. And then the three of you can run the shop, just like old times." Molly said, putting an arm around George.

George stared. "Mum" he said , putting both hands on her shoulders to make her sit down.
"Fred is dead!" He said bluntly. He died a hero fighting against Voldemort.

Molly looked confused. She was crying again.
"But I saw him this morning. And he has been dropping in for a while for weeks now!" She said. She said, looking around for someone to agree with her.

"No mum that was just George." Ginny said.

"Fred is dead, we had his funeral weeks ago!" Ron chimed in.

Molly was crying harder than ever. It seemed like it was finally sinking in.

"All these years and you still can't tell us apart, eh mum?" George said, grinning. Molly let out a chuckle through her sobs. George put an arm around her and took her to her room as Ginny made some tea to calm her down.

"Does this mean things are finally going back to the way they were now?" asked Ron, throwing himself back on the couch.

"Things will never be the same, Ron. But change does not have to be a bad thing. Look at Ginny!" Harry said.

"What about Ginny?" Ginny said, joining them with tea.

"You are going to live your dream, you are going to become famous." Harry said.

"Not as famous as you." Ginny said, blushing.

"My point is that you are going to be everything you want to be which wouldn't have happened if Voldemort was still around." Harry said. "Yes it's going to be different because of all the things we went through that year and because of everyone we lost. But that does not mean we can't find happiness again."

Ginny hugged him. Just then an owl swooped in and dropped a letter on Harry, Ron and Ginny.

"Late post today." Ron commented, picking up his letter. He looked up to find Harry and Ginny just staring at the envelope. Following suit, Ron looked at his. Turning it over he saw it.

The Hogwarts seal.

They tore open the letter and began reading,

Dear Mr.Potter,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry to attend your final year and to complete your NEWTS.

Please find enclosed a list of necessary books and equipments.

Term begins on September 1st. We await your owl by no later than 31st July.

Yours sincerely,

Filius Flitwick
Deputy Headmaster.

Harry looked up, surprised. "I dint think they would take us back."

"Sounds fair, most of us did not get the chance to study. Busy fighting for our lives." Ginny said.

"All those poor muggleborns on the run from death eaters, education was probably the last thing in their mind." Ron said.

"What do you think though?" Harry asked waving the letter. But before anyone could answer, there was a flash at the fireplace and Hermione jumped out. She was completely out of breath and was clutching a letter in her hand.

"We get to go back to Hogwarts!" She cried happily.
But nobody joined her. To Harry's surprise, he dint feel so excited either.

Hermione's face fell when she saw how everyone lacked any enthusiasm. "Don't you want to go back?" She asked, eyes stopping at Harry.

"I do, but what is Hogwarts now?" Harry asked. "No Dumbledore, half are classmates are dead, for the first time I wish Snape was around."

"But there are other reasons to go back. Looks like Flitwick is deputy headmaster which means McGonagall is Headmaster." Hermione said, indicating the letter again. "What about NEWTS? Don't you want to finish that?"

"Those are reasons you want to go back." Ron said. "For Harry it's different."

"And you?" Hermione asked.

"I'm helping George, once Ginny goes, someone needs to keep an eye on mum." Ron said.

Hermione turned to Ginny, who was her last resort.

"Sorry Hermione, can't turn down the HolyHead Harpies." She said, sadly.

Hermione sat on the couch slowly sighing. "So no Hogwarts this year." She said. Nobody said anything.
