Chapter Ten: [Edited]
Chapter Ten
In court today, a defendant named Alikah Parker found out her destiny on Friday morning following the jury's judgment in her murder trial. The Cass County judge sentenced Parker to life in prison with the possibility of parole on the murder charge of malicious intent after hearing arguments and witness testimony.
She will also serve an additional five years for possessing a firearm while committing a felony and eight years consecutively for the charge of false imprisonment. This came about following the death of a young lady who had followed her from the vehicle crash. Although the case received widespread media coverage, I understand that the murder was not thought to be racially motivated. I referred to the sentence as a win and stated that Parker will still need to serve at least 43 years even if she is granted parole in the future.
After the sentence hearing was over, Parker was sent to jail. I felt like I had no choice but to tell the judge I recommended a longer sentence even though Parker's defense attorney said she wanted a deal. But the deal was off the table. Until I was back in my office, I was sitting behind my desk, I was planning on calling back my private investigator Benjamin Kyle. He helped me finding who would accuse Jacob into killing Izza, and I think he would be able to help me find answers to Ella Magen and why she forced Heather into accusing Jacob for killing Izza and then committing suicide. So I did. I called Benjamin Kyle.
After grabbing my iPhone, I dialed his phone number. I waited for Benjamin to answer the phone and after he answered the phone call I first said hello and told him I needed to talk to him about Ella Mogen. After having a conversation with Benjamin, I hung up the phone. Since Benjamin was going to help me get more information on Ella Mogen, I decided to continue investigating Ella Mogen and I opened my laptop and decided to look for any other classmates who Ella graduated from high school with and I find out that one of her best friends Marcy Dash is currently working as a teacher at a middle school in Cass County and so I decided on another Sunday morning to go visit her, since I was off work that day to talk to Marcy about Ella and her and how their relationship was like in high school.
After arriving at Marcy's house, I knocked on the door and I waited for Marcy to answer.
After Marcy answered the door, she said, Can I help you?"
I answered back and said, "hi I'm Ryan Morgan, I wanted to talk to you about Ella Mogen," I said to Marcy. Marcy nods her head. Marcy didn't know what to say to me. "Um, right now it's not a really a good time to talk about this, because I am number one have to go pick up my daughter from daycare, and two, I have a meeting at my middle school, and I'm already running late," says Marcy, sighing, and looking at her watch.
"Oh I understand," I answered back to Marcy.
"Sorry that I showed up unannounced," I said, once more to Marcy, before turning back around and just before I was about to leave and head back to the car, Marcy had stopped me and said, "Wait. I think I can take five minutes to talk about Ella." I sighed and nodded my head. I turned back around and I walked up to Marcy. After stepping into her home, Marcy shuts the door.
"So can you tell me a little bit about how you knew Ella Mogen," I said to Marcy.
"Um. We used to be best friends. I met her during my freshman year of high school. Um. Ella had just transferred to my high school my first year of high school, she was fifteen and I was fifteen at the time. We became super close friends. She had everything in her. She was smarter than me, she was funnier than me. Everyone adored her," says Marcy.
I nodded my head, understanding Marcy. "So, around our second month of my sophomore year of high school, Ella just one day, I guess she changed. She started to act strange around me. She started to avoid me. She stopped talking to me. And she started hanging out with this girl named Heather, Heather Baker," says Marcy.
I got even more suspicious. "Olay. So, what was their relationship like?" I said.
Um, unfortunately Heather had found out Ella had accused someone of sexual misconduct in high school. I never knew who it was. But it was all a hoax," says Marcy.
"And this was after Ella had stopped talking to you?" I wondered.
Marcy nods her head.
"Yeah. She apparently decided to be friends with Heather. And Ella never got caught for accusing that person for sexual misconduct. The police decided to let it slide," says Marcy.
"Why?" I said.
"Ella told the police that she wouldn't accuse any one of anything. But I kind of just thought it was weird that she would accuse someone for misconduct," says Marcy.
I nodded my head once more. "So, how did Heather feel about that?" I asked.
"She decided one day to not be friends with Ella anymore because she didn't feel like she needed to hangout with Ella anymore after what she did to the other person. Ella sort of got mad and said that Heather was making a big mistake by calling off their friendship. And after that, Ella never got to see Heather ever again. Apparently she decided to drop out of high school and never graduated along with Heather and I. I haven't seen Ella since she dropped out. That was the last time I saw her," says Marcy.
I sighed and I said, "Well, thank you Marcy, for telling me all this. Apparently I have the detectives investigating the death of Megan York, and I'd think Ellla Mogen has something to do with her death," I explained.
"Megan York? Yeah, I heard about what happened to her on the news," says Marcy.
"Yeah. She told me exactly what you told me," I answered back.
"She knew Ella?" wondered Marcy.
"Yeah," I answered back.
Marcy nods her head. "Well, I better let you get back to what you're doing. I'm sorry to show up unannounced once again," I said.
"No problem. I hope they'll be able to find the person who forced Heather into accusing this young boy. I guess his name is Jacob, or something," says Marcy.
"He's my little brother," I answered back.
"Oh. Well, I'm sorry for what happened to your little brother. How has he been doing?" wondering Marcy.
"Great. He's doing good," I answered back.
Marcy smiled at me. I smiled back at Marcy. "Well, I better get going now. It was good meeting you," I said to Marcy.
I then walked to the door. I opened the door and Marcy just stood where she was, watching me leave. After stepping out of her home, and then shutting the door, I walked up to my car. Marcy just stood where she was and she sighed.
