Chapter Six: [Edited]
Chapter Six
In the evening of the month of August, I was writing a trial brief that is based on one of the legal documents about a defendant named Kirsten Sophie, case number 18-07-C-0216. A formal written statement that addresses a complaint and outlines the defense's reasons in a civil action is called a defendant's trial brief.
This legal document is a brief summary about Kirsten Sophie versus the People of North Dakota, in the year of 2021, where the Supreme Court affirmed the Conviction of Sophie as a police officer who had been charged with carrying a concealed handgun. As I was writing my legal document before the Sophie versus the North Dakota trial, I moaned as I rubbed my eyes and I was getting tired.
I've been stuck at the office since the morning, because of so many cases in the past morning. Then (as I was writing my trial brief), I heard a text message go through my iPhone. I sighed and I really needed to focus on what I was doing. Until another text message came through, and I stapled away from my laptop and I paid attention to the text messages. After looking at my screen, I realized it was a text message from the anonymous person, because I recognized the number.
They'd kept on telling me repeatedly that Heather was innocent. I sighed and I paid back attention to reading my legal documents. Until I heard footsteps coming outside from my office. I frowned after turning my head and since I was the only one at work, trying to finish up a legal document, I said, "hello?" After I said hello, things just got quiet. I turned around facing my laptop and then typing more information on the legal document.
I cleared my throat this time. I went back to typing my legal document. After I had finished working my last two pages of my trial brief, I gathered it together with my laptop and put it away in my briefcase. After I zipped up my briefcase, I hung the strap over my left shoulder. I then turned off the lights and I started to leave my office. I walked away from my desk and I went up to the door.
After I opened the door, stepped out of my office, then shutting the door, I started walking away from my office. It was quiet inside the courthouse. Everyone had already gone home and I was the last one to leave. After I had walked out of the grocery store to get some groceries, I opened the trunk of my car and I started grabbing my groceries and putting them in my car. After closing the trunk, I put my cart away back into the store. I then turned around and walked out of the store, then to my car.
I opened the door after unlocking it with my keys and I got inside my car. Then I shut the door and I turned on my car with my keys. I sighed and I pulled the gear in reverse. I turned facing the back windshield and I pulled out of the parking spot. I faced the front windshield and I looked down at my gear and pulled it in drive. I pushed on my gas pedal as I adjusted my steering wheel. I left the grocery store eventually.
While driving on my way back home, I was driving down the road in the middle of nowhere. I looked at my rear view mirror and I noticed there was this car behind me. That car was real close to my rear end. The car kept on following me. I sort of pushed on my gas pedal and sped up a little bit. I looked at my rear view mirror and I noticed the car felt ok following me.
"What?" I said.
Then the car was close to my rear end. I sighed. I turned on my right blinker and I pulled to the side of the road. But then the car passed through me and I let out a relieved sigh. For a moment there, I thought the person behind me was gonna try to hurt me. I then pushed on my gas pedal after looking in the rear view mirror on the side of the door and I started to drive once again. I did more research on the article of Izza's death. I saw more pictures of the blurred out person in the picture and I kept on wondering why they were blurred out. Just that one specific person though.
Back at court, I was doing my direct examination to the defense witness named Moana Morne. She is testifying against the defendant named Sawyer Madje who is under a criminal charge for committing a Class A felony. He was being charged with kidnapping a young girl in the head of passion. I sighed as I continued my argument in court.
When I was in my office, I was talking over the phone to collect information to be used against a defendant in court or as proof against them. For example, calls may also be made by prosecutors in order to obtain information that would support a longer sentence. Threats made over the phone against the judge, the prosecutor, or witnesses, for instance, may qualify as aggravating circumstances.
Until I couldn't focus on my work. I then found more results of Izza's death that the article said on the website and unfortunately as stated in the article, police say that Izza was murdered because of a false statement of Jacob being accused of a crime and I knew that already. Until I read more information about the death of Izza and I was getting the feeling that the anonymous person had been trying to tell me, "oh you can't find me, and put me in jail." I then found this sentence where the police also stated that Heather was forced into committing the crime and accusing Jacob for the crime.
Unfortunately the person is a woman. But no name was mentioned. So I decided to do some research on the woman who forced Heather into killing Izza and then accusing Jacob of the crime. But then I didn't have time to do more research on the anonymous woman who has been calling, texting and emailing me for weeks. I had to continue to focus on my work and focus on arguing my next case.
