I'd always been an only child.. my entire life, I'd had to stay in the shadows as I watched everyone else play with there siblings. I wanted a sibling.

I wanted a lot of things.. I'd never been into a wealthy family, so I'd always be different.. I couldn't just say I wanted something then I'd magically have it.

I had to work for it. Every time. All the time. Even when I did work. It would only be enough to get a scrap of food on my plate.. and even then that was never enough for me.

I'd gotten bullied at schools, my grades suffered poorly because of it.. but.. why would it matter anyway? My entire life was shitty so this was just adding to thin air.

The tight-rope I'd been walking along was slowly breaking.

I didn't care anymore.

I couldn't care anymore.

What was the point of caring at all?

My parents gave zero fucks about my well-being. It was man for themselves for us. While everyone lived in luxury I could only daydream about that laid back life.

"Mom.. I.. I finished.. I finished chopping the logs for the fire.. " I said.. heavily breathing.. large sweat glands running down my face.."Very well. Here.", she handed me several nickels and one quarter..

'This is enough to by a loaf of bread from the bakery down the road..'

"Go buy yourself something then come back.", I nodded as I grabbed my worn down bag and headed out of the tiny, wooden house.

"Sister!" I heard someone call out.. "____.. you know you can't come with me.." I said disappointedly..

"But... I.. I have money to spend too!" She shouted out.. anxiousness and desperation in her voice.. I smiled, scratching the back of my neck as I grabbed her hand and started to walk..

I could feel her face light up in happiness as she skipped to the rhythm of the song singing in her head. Even though my entire life was full of despair and loss of any kind of saving..

Atleast she was in my life to brighten it up a little..

Her smile was the only thing keeping me from ending it all..
