Chapter 47
After Hyunjin and Jisung returned from their trip to the beach, Chan made them to get dressed properly cause he was had plans at trip, of which he claimed that they couldn't postpone it under any circumstances.
So they sat in the car around lunchtime and Chan drove them all together to their destination - the zoo.
Or rather the Taronga Zoo. And although Hyunjin and Jisung looked at each other a little skeptical at first, they were quickly taught a better one.
Because the zoo was of course "just" a zoo, but had special animal encounters, as they quickly noticed. Animal encounters Chan had booked time slots for.
And so it happened that they sat together in the meerkat enclosure and the small, fluffy animals swung wildly around them and climbed on them, while a zookeeper explained to them everything worth knowing about the small mammals.
Jisung could only listen halfway closely, because one of the meerkats had laid down on his lap and Jisung carefully stroked his fluffy fur with his fingers.
He was blissfully happy. The memory of previous zoo visits as a child was incomparable to this one and he was so incredibly happy that Chan had insisted on coming here.
Especially because Chan had told them in the meantime that they also had a time slot to visit the capybara enclosure.
Jisung could hardly believe his luck. He suspected that Chan had paid a whole lot of money for it, which was bubbling somewhere in the back of his head, but in any case the small, fluffy guys around him made any negative thoughts disappear for now.
He looked at Chan, who watched one of the meerkats climbing up his arm, smiling happily.
"So, since you now know everything important about our meerkats, you can feed them with a piece of veggie before our time is unfortunately up again," said the zookeeper and gave them a bowl of veggies. "But be careful, the little rascals are damn fast and like to steal the veggies."
Gently giggling, Jisung held an apple piece to the little guy on his lap, which the cute guy immediately grabbed and stuffed into his mouth.
Overjoyed, Jisung gently stroked his fur again before the zookeeper gently lifted the meerkat from his lap.
"Thank you very much, that was a very wonderful experience!" Jisung said, reached for Chan's hand and together with Felix and Hyunjin they left the enclosure.
As soon as they had left the enclosure, Jisung jumped up and down with exuberant joy. "That was madness!" he shouted enthusiastically and kissed Chan stormily.
"I'm glad you liked it, baby," Chan said smiling and kissed him again before he turned to Felix and Hyunjin. "We now have about two hours until our time slot with the capybaras. Do we want to walk around the zoo together, or do you want to go alone?"
Felix simply looked at his cousin with raised eyebrows, while Jisung and Hyunjin grinned at each other. "What a question... of course we go together!" Hyunjin replied with playful indignation. Shaking his head, he grabbed Jisung's hand and pulled the younger one with him, even if he didn't know where exactly.
Grinning, Chan shook his head." I don't even know why I thought it was a good idea if you would come to Australia with us," he giggled, for which he received a punch against his shoulder.
"Dumbass," Felix laughed and linked arms with his cousin. "Come on, let's follow them. Before they disappear somewhere and we have to have them called up via loudspeakers because they got lost."
Laughing, Chan let himself be drag along.
He was pleased that his idea had been so well received by the others. He knew the zoo and its attractions from his childhood and had begged his parents as a child until they had let him go to the meerkats for the first time at some point. Since then, he had been in love with the animal encounters, but hadn't had the opportunity often.
He was all the more pleased to be able to offer Jisung and Hyunjin the opportunity now and to be able to fulfill at least a part of his own childhood dreams.
"Thank you... for taking us with you! And for the fact that you have organized everything so well. Even though I know that you actually only did this because of Jisung," Felix said with a grin and wrapped his arms around the elder.
"Little brat," Chan laughed, wrapped his arms around Felix's waist and squeezed as hard as if he wanted to crush the younger one. "You pretend that the holiday is the first time we do something together."
"Ouch! Okay okay, you're right. Let go of me," Felix pushed out and tried to free himself from the arms of the elder, but Chan simply was stronger than him.
"All right," Chan shrugged his shoulders, loosened his grip and pressed a kiss on Felix's forehead before he finally let him go.
Grinning, Felix shook his head again, but then paused and looked around almost in panic. "And where are they now?!" he asked nervously.
Chan suppressed a giggle and pulled Felix with him.
What the younger hadn't noticed was that Jisung and Hyunjin had climbed on a hippo statue and were now taking selfies.
Inconspicuously, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and took some pictures of them before switching to video recording and recorded how the two, more or less successful, tried to take selfies and at the same time tried not slip off the hippo
"I don't even know what you have. To me, it looks like the little ones are having fun," he said loudly to Felix when they were within hearing distance of the other two.
Jisung only frowned, while Hyunjin sparkled badly at the elder. "Look at yourself, old man."
That was too much for Chan. With great effort, he tried to climb the damn slippery hippo, while Felix just laughed at him.
Finally at the top, Chan allowed Felix to take several photos of them and then pushed Hyunjin down from the statue.
Giggling, they finally went on, looked at the various animals and read through information boards.
Since they had not yet eaten lunch, at some point they stopped at one of the many takeaways of the zoo, bought fries and cola and continued to stroll with their prey after they had agreed that they would rather see more of the zoo than sit down to eat.
When they left the zoo later in the evening, all four were quite tired, but incredibly happy.
The visit to the Capybara enclosure had been incredibly cute and Jisung had fallen directly in love with the friendly rodents.
Happily smiling, Chan reached for Jisung's hand as they walked side by side across the huge parking lot. "Did you like the day?" he asked quietly.
"That you even have to ask l," Jisung boxed against Chan's shoulder laughing, but immediately grabbed his hand again. "It was one of the most beautiful days in my life..."
Surprised, smiling, Chan pulled the younger to him and kissed him gently, while behind them Felix and Hyunjin whistled and clapped.
On the way home, Jisung's eyes closed more and more often until he finally fell asleep. Hyunjin and Felix were also tired, but stayed awake and talked quietly while Chan focused on the street.
He looked over at Jisung from time to time and couldn't help but smile happily.
Pretty much everything was perfect. Jisung in Sydney, where he could show him where he grew up. Where they could spend a wonderful time together carefree without having to really worry about anything.
And yet, buried deep in his head and heart, he missed Changbin. They had worked so long as a well-oiled transmission and now there was just a big void in the part of his heart where Changbin had lived for so long.
Sighing, Chan looked out of the side windows and had to take a deep breath.
