Chapter 20

Which led to Chan being alone. He had very rarely been alone in the last two weeks and somehow the silence felt strange.

He really didn't know what to do with himself, even if he actually had an incredible amount of things to do.

On the one hand, he wanted to get through the conversation with Changbin as quickly as possible, on the other hand, he was somehow afraid of what the younger would tell him.

Well, maybe he wouldn't talk to him at all.

Brooding, Chan shook his head and decided to take a shower first. But in the bathroom, the chaos of blood and shards received him.

Sighing, he set out to collect the shards, vacuumed away the rest and washed away the blood.

Then he undressed and stood under the warm water. Which felt good, but his head was full of thoughts of Changbin, which was why he hasted to finish.

He didn't want to have to think about all this anymore. He wanted to have his head free for Jisung and for his work.

A short time later, he was sitting in the car on the way to Changbin. His thoughts were still spinning in circles, but he stared concentrated at the street.

He would have liked to have held Jisung in his arm and cuddled up to him, but it was of no use.

When he stood in front of Changbin's front door a little later, he had to take a few breaths before finally pressing the bell.

It took quite a while until he heard muffled steps and the door was finally opened a bit.

"Chan...?"

Chan stared at Changbin with his mouth open. He looked tired and incredibly sad. As if he had slept far too little and cried only recently.

Without a word, Chan pushed the door open, entered the apartment and pulled Changbin into his arm. "Oh Binnie..." he muttered unhappily and gently stroked the back of the younger.

He could feel him being shaken by his sob before he heard it.

Sighing, he closed the door and pulled Changbin into the living room with him. But since the younger clung to him, it wasn't that easy to sit down with him.

"Binnie, come sit down and let's talk..." he said quietly and continued to caress his back.

But Changbin only shook his head and pressed himself closer to Chan.

"I'm so sorry...," he finally pushed out sobbing and clung to Chan, who finally dropped on the sofa with the younger one in his arms.

"Binnie talk to me... I'm sure we'll find a solution..." Chan murmured and changed his position so that he lay on his back and Changbin accordingly almost on top of him.

Who took a deep breath, which didn't actually help anything. He only sobbed more violently and his tears soaked Chan's shirt.

Chan suppressed a sigh, held him tight and simply continued to caress Changbin's back. He wanted to know what was going on and be able to understand why the younger behaved like that, but it looked like it would take some time before he would get his answers.

He knew the younger for almost five years now, but he had never seen him like that before.

"Binnie... I'm here... calm down..." he murmured helplessly and gently stroked through Changbin's hair.

"But you won't forgive me," the younger one whispered sobbing.

"I will... if you apologize to Jisung, I'll forgive you baby...," Chan said quietly, which led to Changbin getting up almost shocked and staring at Chan with a tear-soated face.

"What?" Chan asked confusedly, gently wiping the tears of Changbin's cheeks.

"Don't say something like that... you're with Jisung... you shouldn't say something like that to me," Changbin whispered and started sobbing again. Again, tears ran down his face and Chan just felt incredibly overwhelmed and perplexed.

Sighing, he pulled the younger one back to him and even if he briefly resisted it, he finally let himself be pulled into Chan's arm.

"I apologize to him.. But I want you to go now..." Changbin murmured at some point after they had cuddled up to each other for quite a while.

"Binnie, please talk to me. I'm happy if you apologize to Jisung, but I want everything to be okay between us too. Nothing in the last five years has managed to tear us apart.. you are my best friend and I love you... we can get through everything together, you just have to talk to me..." said Chan quietly.

Changbin took a deep breath. He couldn't tell Chan the truth. He wasn't even really sure what he was feeling, how should he explain it to Chan.

It would destroy everything if he told him the truth. Their friendship and probably also how they worked together.

And he actually needed Chan so much. His life was anything but smooth and if he also lost Chan and his work, there would be nothing left.

Sighing, he decided to tell him at least a little bit of the truth.

With trembling hands, he reached for Chan's hand, but didn't dare to look at him.

"I... I so was jealous. There have been only the two of us for so long and then Jisung came and it kind of felt like you were replacing me. Not that it apologizes for how I behaved... But I was kind of so angry and hurt... when you didn't get in touch when you were back and Jisung just slept at yours without telling me... it really felt like you just parked him here until you came back and forgot me..."

Tears ran down Changbin's cheeks again. He hadn't want to reveal that much, but somehow the words had simply come out of his mouth without him being able to stop them.

"Oh Binnie..." Chan murmured sadly and at the same time felt quite guilty. Changbin wasn't entirely wrong.

None of this had been planned or intended, but had simply turned out in the course of the events. And yet he could understand why Changbin felt that way.

"I'm so sorry.. I didn't plan to replace you or park Jisung with you! He urgently needed a place to sleep and I was hoping that it would work for both of you. When he woke up the morning after I came back, he felt incredibly guilty because he didn't texted you Binnie... he had a breakdown after you yelled at him... and was in the hospital because id everything that happened afterwards. He didn't want to hurt you. He wants to be friends with you and blames himself insanely... it may be that I behaved wrongly, but Jisung didn't do anything wrong!" said Chan and noticed again how, despite all the concern for Changbin, some anger appeared on the surface again.

"He was in the hospital?!" Changbin whispered in shock and sat up abruptly. "I didn't want that!"

"Yes, he was! And damn it, Binnie, you can talk to me about anything, but you acted like an absolute ass to him!"

"You're right.. I absolutely have to apologize to him..." Changbin murmured and was quite horrified at himself.

He had spent the last two days bathing in self-pity and above all blaming Chan, but also Jisung for everything. He had been so angry and disappointed with the two that he hadn't thought at all about how he had behaved himself.

"I... oh God I have to talk to him and apologize... Can we go to him...?" Changbin asked quietly and hardly dared to see in Chan's eyes.

"No... at least not yet. He's working and I don't want him to have to deal with it at work... But maybe we can pick him up together..." Chan replied brooding and pulled his phone out of his pocket. "But I'll ask him first."

"Okay..." Changbin whispered, chewing nervously on his nails.

Jisung had always behaved very kindly towards him. Had almost instantly accepted him as a friend, even though they had hardly known each other and he could simply have spent his time with Hyunjin alone.

And he had yelled at him and insulted him. He would have liked to slap himself. He had behaved like a complete idiot.

"Binnie, don't do that! Otherwise I'll let Hyunjin paint your nails!" Chan growled and pulled the younger one to him, even if he was still a little mad at him.

They remained like that for quiet a while and waited for Jisung to answer.
