Chapter 37

We finally made it to the park after a ten minute drive. James and I are currently watching Christian play with the other kids here.

"Are you ready to go to Columbia?" James asks me as I see Christian slide down the slide.

"Yes and no." I answer honestly and he gives me a confused look.

"Why yes and why no?" he asks me and I look at Christian think back at him.

"Yes because I'm ready to be in New York where there's so many more opportunities than there are here, and I said no because I'm not all that ready to leave my family. I know we will have holidays to come visit, but it wouldn't be the same." I tell him and he nods his head understandingly.

"Exactly how I feel." he says grabbing my hand and interwining our fingers.

"We still will have each other, so I guess it's not too bad." I tell him playing with our connected hands.

"I guess you're right." he says letting a smile form on his beautiful face.

"Sissy come push me!" Christian yells from the swings.

I get up letting go of James hand. I walk over to my baby brother with James hot on my heels. As I begin to push him on the swing I start thinking about how things change with age.

"Higher!" he yells kicking his feet back and forth.

It's interesting how kids can easily make friends whereas when you get a certain age it's less likely. Maybe it's because little kids don't care about how much money your parents have or what you look like while when you are a teen those things matter.

I don't understand why, but I hope it changes in the near future.

"Can you push me?" a little dark skinned girl with two puff balls asks.

She was so cute and look around Christian's age. I looked at James, and he nodded.

I felt a little unsure about this because I felt as if someone brought their child to the park would be playing them or watching them carefully.

I went to the little girl and pushed her on the swings as James did the same for Christian.

"Thank you um.. what's your name?" the little girl asks while swinging her feet forward.

"Chloe, what about you?" I ask her still pushing her softly.

"My name is Nyla." she says with a smile and I silently aww.

I've been wanting to ask her who brought her here because I was wandering why she would be talking to a stranger.

I would never dream of harming anyone's child, but there are other people in this world who would do it an a split second.

"Nice to meet you sweetie. How old are you?" I ask the cute little girl with a smile on my face.

"I'm this many." she says holding up five fingers.

"Who brought you here?" I ask her the question that has been on my mind.

She looks up then around in search of someone.

"My big sister, but I don't see her." she says as she stops swinging on the swing.

"What does she look like?" I ask looking at her confused as to why someone would leave their little  sister all alone.

"She looks like me, but she's bigger." Nyla tells me looking at me with fear in her eyes.

"Let's go look." I tell her and she jumps off the swing heading over to me grabbing my hand.

"Where are you going?" Christian asks once he sees the two of us walking away from the swings.

"Find my sister." Nyla answers with a smug look on her face.

This little girl is too cute. I have a word or two to give this chick who decided that it was smart to leave her sister behind to go do God knows what.

Also the fact that she would leave her sister to possibly be kidnapped. She should know that this world is no longer a place where kids can just walk around freely without being snatched up.

This is a cruel place we live in, but we all have to endure it. I'm glad Nyla came up to me and not a strange perverted individual.

"We can help too." my little brother says to her with a bright smile on his face as he jumps off the swing and coming over to us with James right behind him.

"What happened?" James asks me once he gets to me.

"I think her sister left her here, I'm not too sure." I tell him and he look angry.

"Anybody could have took her!" he exclaims with a deep frown on his.

"Baby, standing here talking about it is not going to make the situation any better." I tell him trying to get him to calm down so we can find this girl.

I feel the same way as he does, but I didn't want to freak out Nyla anymore that she might already be.

"You're right let's go." he says grabbing my hand as Christian and Nyla do the same thing.

If this wasn't a serious moment I would be seriously fangirling over the two kids that stood in front of us.

"Is that her D?" Christian asks pointing in the direction of a taller dark skinned girl.

"Yes, that's my sister Desaree." she says still holding onto Christian's hand.

I look over to the direction Christian pointed in, and seen the girl was not alone. She was with a guy and they were holding into each other like there lives were depending on it.

"Who is that guy?" Christian asks looking at the mysterious teens.

"I don't know." she says her beautiful smile no longer showing but in it's place a deep frown.

Even though I'm new to the whole big sister thing I knew how Penny would handle this situation if it was me.

"Come here sweetie." I say letting go of James' hand and bending down to her level.

She walks over to me with Christian right beside her. I can tell even though we all knew very little about this girl, we were already very fond of her.

"Do you want me to talk to her?" I ask her hoping she would say yes because this girl really needs to know to never do something like this again.

"Yes, but I want to play with Christian before I have to go home." she says glancing at Christian and he smiles making her cheer up.

"Well you two go play we will be right over there." I tell them pointing to where Nyla's sister was now sitting.

"Thanks Chloe." she says running over to the swing where Christian began to push her.

I can tell this too will become inseparable, and I loved seeing my little brother happy.

"What are you going to say to her?" James asks before I started to walk over too the girl.

I don't what got into me, but I wasn't going to let anyone treat a child this kind of way.

"I don't know, but whatever it is she deserves it." I tell him and he nods his head understandingly

I finally reach the girl to see she is on her phone texting furiously.

"Hello?" I ask standing in front her making her look up at me with a confused expression on her face.

"Who are you?" she asks rather rudely make me roll my eyes in annoyance.

"My names Chloe." I answer with a blank expression on my face.

"Okay, and what do want Chloe?" she asks looking at me up and down making me want to slap her.

"I want to know why you left your sister in the park." I say and she looks guilt seeping through her pores.

"How would you know that?" she asks still not admitting what she had done wrong.

"She came up to me, and after a while I asked who brought her here." I tell her and she brushes her curly black hair back with the palm of her hand.

"I was still here I never left." she says trying to somewhat defend herself.

"Someone could have kidnapped her;  almost anything could have happened. I seen you with a guy nottoo long ago. I'm not one to tell you what to do with your life because I don't know you, but don't go risking someone's life for a hookup." I tell her and she puts her hands over her face.

"I'm a horrible sister, I know. I didn't know what I was thinking I was just thinking about myself. I'll do the right thing maybe then she can forgive me. I just hope she doesn't hate me." she says taking her hands off her face to look at me.

I just look back at her hoping she was being serious about doing the right thing.

"Thank you for keeping an eye on her while I was being stupid. I'm Desaree." she says then holds out her hand for me to shake.

I want to be petty and just look at her hand in disgust, but I knew that was not the right thing to do.

I took her hand in mine and briefly shook it. No telling where her hands have been.

"Being a sister is not an easy job, but it's manageable. Take care of that adorable little girl." I tell her and she nods looking off to where she was.

"Looks like she's having fun, but who is that guy?" she asks more to herself than to me and I turn around and look at this girl.

"That's my boyfriend." I say getting a little possessive.

"I meant the little boy." she says with a laugh and I soon join in.

"Well I they look happy in each other's company, so how about o give you my number. Just so they can hang out." she says hesitantly.

"Sure, I'd think they'll both love that." I say taking down her number in my phone.

"Thanks again." she says before calling Nyla over.

Christian and Nyla come running over to us with smiles on their adorable faces.

"We can still be friends right?" Christian asks looking at Nyla as she was getting ready to leave the park.

"Of course." she says looking at her sister before she gave Christian a big hug.

Soon after that they left, and so did we. Today wad quite an eventful day, but Christian and Nyla were so cute together.

Christian was happy to have a friend, and I was happy for him. Now I won't have to worry about him being unhappy while I am away.

I know he has the rest of the family, but now he had a friend his own age, so I guess you can say I'm glad this small dilemma occurred today.
