"J, I'm ready." I say once he answers the phone.

Mel and I just got back to the diner after walking around talking. She had just got picked up by Cody who wanted to hang out with her before school tomorrow.

"I'm just around the corner, so I'll be right there." he says and I hear him start up the car.

"What were doing?" I ask sitting on front of the restaurant loitering.

"You'll see in due time." he says hanging up.

This not did not just hang up in my face. Before I could call to curse him out he pulled up. He didn't have to hang up without saying bye, that was uncalled for.

"Babygirl, why you look mad?" he asks looking at me with concern.

I didn't say anything I just got in the car and buckled up. I'm not really mad, but I didn't feel like it was right to do that. I may be being overly dramatic, but that's just me.

"Chloe, what's wrong?" he asks looking at me for an answer.

"Why did you hang up in my face?" I ask him.

"I saw you when I hung up, so I just thought it was pointless to be on the phone. Now I see that I was wrong, so I'm terribly sorry babygirl." he says looking at me for a minute then putting the car in reverse.

"It's fine J, I'm just in a weird mood." I say frowning a bit a my predicament.

"It will be over soon C." he says grabbing my hand in his.

"I know, but there was something that happened at the diner." I tell him remembering the run in with my uncle.

"What happened?" he asks looking at me then back at the road.

"I seen my uncle, and I went over to confront him." I tell him and his eyes change to a darker brown.

"He didn't hurt you did he?" he asks through gritted teeth.

"Babe, I know he is weird and all, but he knows not to put his hands on me." I tell him squeezing his hand for reassurance.

"I know, I just don't want anything to happen to you." he says making a left turn and I nod my head.

"He told me he has something to tell us." I tell him looking out the window at all the trees and buildings.

"Do you know what it is?" he asks pulling into Walmart.

"Not a clue, but I have an idea of what it could be." I tell him looking at him curious as to why we were going to Walmart.

"Well if you need anything just know I'm still here even though I have a few problems myself." he says parking in an empty space.

"Same goes for you mister." I tell him looking at his appearance.

He was wearing black jeans, a white t-shirt and a black button up shirt that was open. His outfit complimented his tan complexion.

"Done checking me out?" James asks snapping me out of my little trance.

"Not really, but want to tell me why we're here?" I ask him looking at the time.

We are supposed to be at the movies by three, and it is currently two. We had some time to kill, but what did we need at Walmart?

"I want snacks, and the theater stuff too expensive." he says unblucking his seat belt and I mirror his actions.

"Can you get me some too?" I ask holding on to my stomach as I get out the car.

"Of course." he says cousin his die coming over to me.

"Well come on we don't have that much time." I tell him while he looks at me curiously.

"Baby, get on my back." he says lowering his body so I can jump on.

"Why J?" I ask not doing as he said.

"I see you holding your tummy, so do it please it will make me feel better." he says and I nod and lift my body onto his.

"Thank you J." I say wrapping my arms around his neck as he stands up.

"Mhm. Now whose ready for some snacks!" he yells causing an elderly couples' eyes to fall on us.

"Me!" I yell laughing making the couple smile.

"Alright let's go." he says walking us towards the entrance.

"What you want to get J?" I ask him once we make it in the store.

"Oreos for sure." he says and I can't help but laugh.

People to this day call me this because I am not fully black or white. It honestly didn't bother me much because Oreos are great.

"Well let's go get them." I say putting my chin on top of his beautiful brown curls. Ugh his hair smells and looks so good.

"Baby, what are you doing to my hair?" James asks when we make it to the snack aisle.

"Can I have some of the products you use because it smells really good." I say smelling his hair again like the weirdo I am.

"Sure, just stop smelling my hair people are looking at us." he says grabbing the cookies.

"Maybe because I'm on your back." I tell him unwrapping my arms from his neck.

"What are you doing you're going to fall?" James asks trying to keep me on his back.

"Stop it J people are staring." I mock him and he laughs. I guess he gets what I'm doing.

"I don't care baby let them stare, but get back on I can't have you in pain because these strangers." he says and I wrap my arms around his neck again.

"I'm not heavy to you?" I ask him as he wraps his arms around my legs holding the cookies.

"Not really." he says walking to the frozen food section.

"Babe, you know we can't get ice cream because the movies." I tell him knowing from experience that you can't do that.

"Damn, I was going to get it for you because I know how much you love it." he says and I'm weak.

This boy will be the death of me I swear.

"Oh my gosh where have you been all my life?" I dramatically ask kissing his cheek multiple times.

"Around." he says laughing as we go to check out.

"So on a serious note do you think your brother and sister will like me?" I ask him as he grabs all types of candy.

"I'm sure they will because you make me happy." he says putting the items down to be checked out.

"Hello beautiful couple." a cashier who looks to be in her mid 30s says with a warm smile.

"Thank you." James and I say in unison making the cashier awe.

"Y'all remind me of my son and his girlfriend. I wish y'all the best." the lady says.

I just smile at how polite and kind she is compared to the rest of the world.

"Thank you ma'am." James says as she rings up all the items.

"No problem, and your total will be $10.02." she says and James hands her eleven dollars.

"Thank you a lot ma'am hope you have a great rest of the day." I tell her once J got his change back.

"You do the same." she says with a beautiful smile.

James walks us out the store, and to his car.

"Time to get down princess." J says bending down allowing me to jump off.

"Thanks for the piggyback ride." I say to J with a smile.

"That's what I'm here for, but we have to go like now or we're going to be late." he says opening the door for me to get in then he runs over to his side.

"Way to ruin the moment J." I say jokingly.

"There will be other moments." he says winking at me getting in the car.

"Just start the car weirdo." I tell him with a slight laugh as he obliges.

"What movie do you want to see?" he asks after it's been silent for a minute.

"I don't know." I tell him honestly as we make it down the road.

"Well my sister is a little bossy, so she might have already picked a movie." he says with a smile.

"What's their names?" I ask out of curiosity.

"My brother's name is Matthew, and my sister's name is Heaven." he tells me and I smile and silently pray that Heaven is actually like her name.

"You have nothing to worry about they're not going to be anywhere near rude." he says reassuringly like he knew what I was thinking.

"If you say so." I say leaning my head against the cool glass.

After a few minutes of looking out the window we finally made it to the movies.

"Can you put the snacks in your bag?" James asks grabbing the bag from the back seat after he parks the car.

"Sure." I say placing the items in the big part of my bag.

I had my pads in here too, but when J wasn't looking I put them in a different section.

"Ready?" he asks once I finish putting all the snacks in my bag.

"Yeah. " I say opening the car door and getting out.

As I walk to back of the car I get a sharp pain in my side. I swear I hate being a girl sometimes.

"You okay?" James asks pushing the button that locks up his car.

"Not really, but I'm here." I say and he frowns.

"I don't like seeing you in pain tell me what I can do to make it better." he says taking my hands in his.

"I don't know, but let's go before the movie starts." I say and he just looks at me giving a small nod.

I let go of James hand, and start walking. I just really want to sit down already. I feel arms wrap around my waist, and turn around to see a worried James.

"What you doing there buddy?" I ask trying to keep walking.

"Helping my girlfriend out." he says spinning me around picking me up bridal style.

"J, I'm not a baby I can walk. " I tell him as he continues to carry me.

"You're my baby, and I can tell it was hurting you." he tells me as we reach the theater's building.

"Do you know if they are here yet?" I ask him laying my head on his shoulder.

"Yes, they're walking over here as we speak." he says and I can feel my heartbeat pick up.

"Put me down J." I say nervously. I don't want them to get the wrong impression of me.

"No, princess they aren't going to judge you because I'm carrying you. Don't be nervous love." James says kissing my forehead.

"Hey J." I hear a deep voice say.

"Hey Matt." James says smiling.

"This must be Chloe." a soft voice says.

Ugh I want to see what's going on, but I really can't see anything except James' smile.

"Can you put me down now?" I ask James almost inaudible.

"I guess." he says placing my feet on the ground.

As soon as I get down I see a group of people staring at me. There was this girl with pretty black hair, a light makeup, and pretty tan skin just like James'. She's beyond beautiful.

"Hi." I say with a small wave.

"Hey I'm Heaven, James' sister." the girl I was just looking at says.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Chloe." I say holding out my hand for her to shake,  but instead she leans in for a hug.

"I'm Matthew, and this is my girlfriend Violet." a guy that looks like an older version of James says.

His girlfriend is tall, pale and has beautiful brown hair. She was pretty.

"Jason, I've seen you around school." a lightskin guy with black curly hair, grey eyes and cute glasses with a gold brim.

"Well what movie are we seeing?" James asks to no one in particular.

"Secret life of pets." Heaven says laughing. I think she's about fifteen or sixteen.

"Let me guess you picked the movie?" James asks Heaven and I smile.

"Well duh." she says with a smile.

"I've been waiting to watch that too: good choice." I tell Heaven and she smiles hooking arms with me.

"I like her." she tells James as we walk into the theater.

"I do too, so don't steal my girlfriend." he tells her laughing as he throws his arm around my shoulder.

"No promises." she says winking at him letting me go.

"Sorry about her." he says and I laugh.

"I really didn't mind, she's cool." I tell him honestly.

"Glad you think so.'" he says smiling kissing my forehead.

"Cut it out lovebirds, and let's go watch this movie." Jason says walking behind Heaven.

"You heard him." I say looking at J and he smiles grabbing my hand pulling us in the theater.

We walk into the theater, we take the seats that were in the back. Jason sat next to Heaven throwing his arm over her seat.

"They together?" I ask James being nosey as always.

"Nah, but they like each other." James says sitting down.

"Aww that's cute." I say and he laughs.

"Your acting more girly than I've ever seen you before." he says and I laugh.

"Probably because of my cycle instead of making me mean I'm actually nice." I tell him.

"That's the first time I've heard that." he says with a faint laugh.

"Sorry." I say sheepishly.

"It's not a problem babygirl." he says sitting back in his seat.

The movie was starting, so I leaned onto James chest. I don't know whenever I did it I just felt safe.

"Can I have a cookie now?" he asks into my ear as I try to control my laughter.

"You can wait." I whisper to him still laughing.

"Oh my gosh you're mind is so dirty." he says with a soft chuckle.

"I mean I am me, Chloe." I say with a smile.

"Cookie though?" he says with a smirk.
