25:Worried

Okay first of all, I might have screwed up the last chapter, and it doesn't line up with the one before it at all. I just re-explained the whole Sierra being Kid's mom thing again (and for those of you skipping a bunch of chapters, yes, Sierra is Kid's mother) even though he explained it in the chapter before to the exact same person. Even though I went through and edited all the chapters, that's going to just remain the same, because I'm too lazy to change that.

I read the note laying next to me where Maka should have been, and it only had one sentence on it:

I'm taking my daughter back.

"Dammit." I whispered. "Why the hell do Maka and I have to both apparently have psycho mothers?"

I walked into the hallway, down to the room Maka told him to go into to sleep in, since I got the enrollment for him to go into the DWMA done the other day, and today was supposed to be his first day there. I didn't know if Gerard would want to go to the DWMA or not, so I left a note on his door saying if he wanted to enroll there to go to the school with Frank and meet me in the death room.

I walked to the DWMA with Mikey after we got ready to go, and I showed him to his class. If it weren't for the fact that I had to go and work at the DWMA today I'd be looking for Maka. I didn't know if I thought anyone else would be responsible enough to do my job for a day while I looked, except for people who were too submissive, like Tsubaki and Crona. Soul was okay to do it at times, but if I told him I was going to leave work to find Maka he would insist on doing it himself, since she was his meister and in technicalities it was partially his job to protect her. Black Star and Patty weren't  really responsible, considering at times, not to be mean but, they were as dumb as a box of rocks. Liz was a bit ignorant of what I did in the death room all day, since she never really came there since we all graduated, so I wouldn't trust her there with my job. Plus, if she came in there and Soul was there too, well, I'd bet they would get pretty distracted with each other.

So I decided on trying to find Maka after school. I'd just have to try and play it cool until then....

And hopefully I could.

I walked into the death room after making sure Mikey went to the right class, since he'd only been there three times before, all of which were just visiting the death room and maybe going to the bathroom.

"Man I can't believe our kids are going here now. It feels kind of weird." Soul stated, since Ray was also enrolled now and starting in the same class as Mikey, being each others meisters, since that's the way it had apparently been to them for a while now.  I didn't really want to change what they were used to, since that would require me finding two meisters for them, which we didn't have very many meisters without weapons, and most of the ones we did have were brand new to fighting, and a lot younger than Ray and Mikey.

"I know. It seems like just yesterday we were graduating from here, and now we're running the school with our kids going here." I replied. A little pause came after that, and Gerard came walking in.

"Hey dad. Hey Soul." Gerard said, and not too far behind him, Frank walked in.

It's hard to believe someone as scrawny as Frank could even be related to Black Star, but the scrawniness was one of the only differences in their appearance, with the exception of style. They both had messy blue hair, tan-ish skin, green eyes, and even their facial expressions seemed the exact same, from what I had seen.

"Hey you two. I take it your here to enroll?" I asked.

"Heck yeah. I've always wanted to go here!" Gerard exclaimed.

"I think it would be pretty cool to go to school here." Frank added.

"Either way, I think it's about time that I go and get some friends other than Frank and Ray." Gerard said.

"Wait you don't have any other friends?" Soul asked.

"Not really. Back when we were with Sierra we were all homeschooled, and I would always clean around the house because my OCD always got the best of me, and I would read a lot if there wasn't really any cleaning to do, so I didn't get out much." Gerard stated.

"Oh god not another one." Soul said sarcastically.

"Hey!" I said with a fake offended voice. "It's not like you have to deal with two extreme OCD people at once or anything, I mean, I'm practically over it unless I'm nervous about something."

"Yeah I noticed. It got really bad when you found out you were going to be a dad." Soul pointed out.

"Oh shut up. Like you weren't nervous when Liz got pregnant with Ray." I said. "And all this is beside the point. We need to get Gerard and Frank enrolled."

"Whatever. You just want to change the topic." Soul said. "And your OCD wasn't all I was talking about I meant the whole books thing too.

"I'm serious, Soul." I replied. "I'll grab the papers."

"Okay." Soul said. "Not like you can enroll Frank without Black Star or Tsubaki's signatures."

"That's why I'm going to send the papers home with Frank. I'm not stupid." I told him.

"Okay, whatever." Soul said as I grabbed paperwork to get Gerard and Frank enrolled.

"Here you go. Just fill out any information on there that you can and sign anywhere it says student signature, and I'll do the rest." I told Gerard. "Frank, you're going to have to take that home to get your mom or dad to sign it and bring it back here as soon as you can."

"Okay." The two of them said together.

"I'm going to go with Frank. I kind of want to go grab some food anyways. I kind of got a bit hyped about getting enrolled here that I forgot to eat breakfast." Gerard said.

"Wow I didn't realize how excited you'd be about enrolling here." I chuckled.

It's something I've always wanted to do, but back when I lived with Sierra she obviously always said no when I asked to enroll." Gerard stated.

"I can see why. If she had said yes we would have found you all a lot sooner." I said. "Though I wish we had found all of you all before you had grown up so much... Or rather that you never got kidnapped in the first place. That would have been better."

"No kidding." Gerard replied with sarcasm. "By the way, if your old enough to be my dad then why in the world do you and mom both look about 18 years old? And why do Frank and Ray's parents look in their 20's?"

"Because I'm a  shinigami, and when a shinigami gets married they and their spouse stop aging and become immortal. Your mother and I got married just before I turned 19. As for everyone else, I found out about another shinigami ability around the time that Mikey was born, and it allowed my friends to become immortal too, and I kind of somehow accidentally used that ability on them." I exlpained.

"So I'm biologically only two years younger than you and mom?" Gerard asked me.

"Yup." I said. "Though hearing it sounds kind of weird."

"No kidding." Gerard chuckled awkwardly.

"Anyways," Frank budded in, "I think we should go so Gerard can get some food. I don't think he's even eaten since we started looking for Mikey and Ray on Saturday."

"That's not-" Gerard started, and paused for a moment to think. "Nevermind I guess that is true."

"That's not very healthy, Gerard." I said. "Just go and get some food. there's plenty of food at home if you want to stop there to eat. Help yourself to anything in the kitchen. Or you could just get some food in the cafeteria here."

"Okay. I'll see you later dad." Gerard said.

The second Gerard walked out the door with Frank my mind immediately turned back onto Maka, and that not that was left this morning, I assume by her mother. I couldn't help but worry about her after reading that note, but school had just started, and it didn't let out for another seven hours. I felt useless, not being able to help her because I was stuck here for the time being.

"You okay Kid?" Soul asked. "You look worried."

"I-I'm fine." I lied.

"You know, you stutter pretty badly when you lie." Soul pointed out, which made me think of back when we all went to the DWMA, just after Soul died and Maka and I were trying to keep our relationship a secret (read "After the Party" if you want to understand that.) and Black Star pointed out the exact same thing.

"Kid, do you like Maka?" Patty asked curiously at lunch, the day Maka had gotten assigned to a new weapon.

"W-what makes you think that?" I asked, worried that if Patty caught on, that pretty much anyone could.

"I guess I wasn't the only one who caught onto how jealous Kid looked when Maka and Carter were introduced to each other." Tsubaki giggled.

"I-i-i-I wasn't jealous!" I said, panicking, while Maka sat next to me giggling.

"You know, you stutter pretty badly when you lie." Black Star pointed out. Maka sighed and pulled out her phone.

"Do you think we can tell them about us?" Maka texted me. I pulled out my phone and tried to hide the message from everyone else, then replied.

"Yeah, they're closer to us than anyone in this school. They would understand."

"Are you two seriously texting each other? Your literally a foot away from each other!" Liz said. Both of us ignored her.

"Do you want to tell them or should I?" Maka texted.

"I don't think it matters who tells them" I texted back.

"Okay seriously why are you two texting each other if your right next to each other?" Black Star questioned.

"Because we're having a private conversation." i said blandly.

"What's so private that you can't even tell us?" Tsubaki asked.

"Well....... Uhhhhhh......" i tried to figure out how to tell them about Maka and I

"If we tell you, do you promise not to be mad at either of us for keeping secrets from you?" Maka asked the group. Sure, she wouldn't be able to tell Crona or Carter yet, but she would get to that later.

"Okay" everyone said.

"You guys can't tell anyone about this, not until this whole thing about Soul blows over." Maka said sternly.

"What, are you two secretly dating or something?" Black Star said as a joke, and started laughing at his own joke.

"Yes...." Maka and I said together, both lowering our heads and blushing. Black Star stopped laughing as soon as he heard both of us say that.

"Earth to Kid." Soul said, waving his hand in front of my face, and I snapped out of my flashback.

"Sorry, just started thinking about something that happened a long time ago." I said.

"Are you going to tell me why you looked so worried just a minute ago?" Soul asked.

"Look, it's a long story, and I think I should wait until after school hours to tell you." I told him. "Besides, we have that long list of missions that seriously need to be done to send students on."

"Yeah, okay. But you'd better tell me what's up the second that bell rings." Soul stated.

"I will, I promise. Just get the list of missions so we can get started on sending students on them." I said, hoping the work would help me to stop worrying so much about Maka.
