Chapter 2: After the Concert
She was a mess. Her blonde hair was disheveled on her head, and her heart-marked cheeks were stained with dry tear tracks.
Star Butterfly lay on the floor of her room, too exhausted to cry any longer. She had just gotten back from the concert, and much to her surprise, it was a disaster. All she intended was to have a good time with the both of her friends, but then her feelings got in the way. It was always feelings.
When they kissed, she felt betrayed, envious, angered. Why did she feel these things towards them? They were happy together. That's all she ever wanted for them, especially Marco Diaz, her best friend in the whole wide world.
But he didn't feel like a friend anymore to her, and she was trying to dodge this thought. Did she have a crush on him?
Star groaned and rolled onto her back, wiping a few more loose tears that were leaking from her eyes. Her mind was running wild, and she couldn't do anything to stop it.
"Yes, I have a crush on Marco Diaz."
The princess got up from her spot on the floor and walked over to her Closet of Secrets, opening the door. She pulled out a little purple book, complete with little doodles on it and a lock and key. She sat down and opened it up, flipping to a new page.
Laying on her belly, and pulled out her wand, eyeing it closely. It glowed faintly, and the Magic was a shade of green. It was weird, but she ignored it. She was used to her wand doing weird things at this point.
She unscrewed the bell and made the wand a pen, and began to write.
Chapter 12: Even More of My Thoughts on Marco
Today I found out that I like my best friend, Marco Ubaldo Diaz. He's so adorable and caring, and I love his cute little mole. It's so cute and I want to kiss it.
But he has a girlfriend, Jackie Lynn Thomas, who looks surprisingly good for someone who looks like she just woke up. I'm not sure exactly what she sees in her, but whatever it is it must be great.
But honestly, I want to be his. But I'm sure he doesn't feel the same...
Tears were dripping on the page. She stopped. It hurt so bad, and she knew she was the only one to blame. She waited so long to realize that she actually had a crush on him, and she completely missed the opportunity to tell him.
Star sighed softly under her breath. She knew she wouldn't stand a chance with him anyway. After all, she was some weird magical princess from another dimension, who happened to begin living with his family after sucking his room into a black hole. Who would have feelings for someone who does something like that anyway?
She felt a wave wash over her, and her self hating thoughts turned into envy. Her eyes flashed green as she growled and gripped her wand-pen tighter.
I hate her so much! She practically stole him from me and I was the one who fell for it! Why did I hook them up? I could have had him all to myself, but nooooo, I had to be stupid and..
No, I could still get with him, all I have to do is narwhal blast her! Yep, then she'll be gone for go-
"Star, where are you?"
The blonde flinched as she recognized that voice. She put her pen down and stopped writing. She couldn't let him see that, it was awful what she wrote about his girlfriend.
She quickly closed her book and put it back in her pile of junk. She heard the door creak open.
"Star?" Marco poked his head in. "Are you alright in there?"
Star forced a smile as she turned her head to face him. "Oh, yeah. I'm fine. Just chilling." She flopped on the floor on her back.
"In the closet?"
"Yeah, I was just looking for one of my stabbies."
"Really? Why are you on the floor then?" He pointed to the blonde princess who was limp on the floor.
"I uh... like the floor?" She got up and dusted herself up, forcing a toothy smile.
Marco blinked at her. "Uh, okay then. Look, Star, can we talk?"
"About?"
"What happened tonight. I feel awful." He went and sat on her bed, putting his head in his hands.
Star frowned and went over to him, placing a hand on his back. "Aw, Marco... you shouldn't feel bad about me. I'm fine, I just wanted to leave you to have fun with girlfriend."
Marco looked up at her and frowned as well, sighing. "But still, I got carried away with Jackie, and made you leave. I didn't mean to, I just wanted to have fun, the three of us together."
She sat next to him. "Really Marco, it's fine. I'm fine. You're my best friend. I want you to be happy."
Marco looked at her and grinned. "...Really?"
"Really."
Star "eeped" as she felt him hug her tightly, putting his head in her chest. She twitched and gently stroked his back and embraced him too.
"I'm so lucky to have you."
Those words, they hurt even more than the kiss she watched them share. She wanted to be his so badly, but at the same time she wanted him to be happy with his girlfriend. She pat his back. "It's nothing really."
"Yes it is, your amazing."
"Heh."
Marco stood up, and put his hands on his hips. "The concert wasn't that great anyway. They were slightly off key. How about I make us some nachos and we watch a movie, best friend?"
Star looked up at him, careful not to let her tears slip. "That sounds... great."
He ran to the door and looked back at her. "Alright, let me go change into my ballet slippers than I'll make the nachos." The door shut behind him.
"Okay, I'll be there. Give me a sec." she winked at him. She got up from the bed and went over to her mirror, eyeing herself. The tears she was trying so desperately to hold in started to fall again, staining her cheeks. She ripped her concert T as she took it off, and threw it on the ground before blasting it with a ray of green magic.
She then went over to her bed and started to cry again into her pillow.
