Chapter 1: The Concert
It was the night of the Love Sentence concert, and everyone was having a blast. The smell of roasted hot dogs filled the air, and intermingled with the sweat of the excited fans. The lovers and friend were among the crowd, singing and dancing along to the iconic song, "Just Friends".
Star got carried away with her performance, and had her eyes closed for a split second as she lip synched the lyrics:
"And now we'll be....just friends...."
As the blonde princess opened her eyes, the awkward feelings grew in the pit of her stomach. Her pupils became smaller as all around her, couples began to touch lips. Inside her mind, she began to panic, and it forced her to think... did she actually have a crush on her best friend? No, of course not. He was only her friend, and will forever be her friend. Best friend. Nothing more.
As she looked around, her eyes focused on something that magnified the awkward feeling, and it morphed it into a feeling of melancholy that struck her deep in her chest.
Her best friend was kissing his girlfriend. Nothing wrong with that. Why did it hurt?
Quickly, Star gasped and pulled her hand away from her friend. She felt like she was intruding. They wanted to be alone, they were a thing now, and when you are a thing, you kiss each other and show affection. She got up from her seat and walked to the door, a eerie smile forming on her lips. She had to be happy for him, she cared about him deeply, and this is everything he ever wanted since he was small: to be with Jackie Lynn Thomas.
"Are you alright?" The voice behind her rang closer.
She looked back, and saw her friend.
"I'm sorry about the...uh... it just kinda happened." Marco rubbed the back of his head. He didn't mean to make her feel uncomfortable.
Star twitched and turned around the face him, the eerie smile growing wider on her face. "Oh don't be silly. I just wanted to be down here by the stage so I could feel the sweat spraying on my face. Hehe, sweat."
She didn't want to show the least bit of resentment to him. He was happy with Jackie and that's all that mattered to her. She didn't want him consoling her. Or did she? Her mind was in shambles.
"Are you sure?" Marco looked at her. She didn't look well and he was genuinely concerned. He reached out a hand to touch her, and Star gently grabbed them and pulled them up.
"Duhhh, what are friends for?" She smiled softly at him, a noticeable twitch forming in her left eye.
Marco, as much as wanted to stay with her, trusted her words and smiled back. He felt hands pushing him.
"No go up there and be with your girlfriend!" She wanted to get him away from her quickly, she could feel the rage building up inside of her, and she didn't like it one bit. She jumped as she felt him embrace her tightly.
"You're the best friend a guy could have!"
Star patted his back then pushed him away. "Yeaaaah. Now go. She's waaaaaiting."
The young princess watched as he ran back up to his sit, and her mind began to race with blinding anger, insane energy, the smile begun to appear on her face again as she watched them share another kiss. She blinked and turned to walk away from the stadium.
The envy was at its peak. She pulled out her wand and fired a single blast of dark energy, blowing up the billboard in her wake.
Nothing could tear us apart, till the day you broke my heart. Now it's a little too late~
